Refresh categories and mail headers in Outlook - outlook

Through EWS I set a category for the email and I modify the header. The category and the changed header appears in Outlook after a few minutes and sometimes you need to restart Outlook to refresh the e-mail box. How can I force a refresh for the categories and headings in Outlook?

No. Outlook caches the data displayed in the preview pane - it only sees changes made through the UI or the Outlook Object Model on the same machine.
Changes displayed in the Explorer view (message list) will be displayed immediately as soon as the data is synchronized with the server.

Display voting results directly in reading pane of outlook

An email dispatcher should have control about emails that are redirected by him. Therefore all emails redirected have custom voting buttons "Accept" and "Decline". User now has to "vote" if email is processed by him, dispatcher should have a easy way to check which emails are accepted/declined.
So I need a solution like:
- attach automatically voting buttons to new email (MailItem.VotingOptions Property)
- User should have a easy way to "reach" voting buttons (e.g show voting buttons directly in reading pane without hover over the information row)
- Dispatcher should see voting results of redirected email directly in reading pane (now you have to open the email an click Status button).
I use Outlook 2016/Exchange 2016 ...
Thanks a lot in advance

Outlook Message webLink with ispopout=0 working only with Inbox

I'm currently building an integration with Office 365 Outlook thanks to the Microsoft Graph API. I retrieve user messages data, along with the webLink, which is a direct URL to the message in Outlook Web App.
By default, it opens in a popout window displaying only this message. My goal is to display it in the full Outlook Web App. In the documentation of a Message resource, Microsoft states this:
You can append an ispopout argument to the end of the URL to change how the message is displayed. If ispopout is not present or if it is set to 1, then the message is shown in a popout window. If ispopout is set to 0, then the browser will show the message in the Outlook Web App review pane.
Doing this works well if the e-mail is in the Inbox mail folder. However, if it is in another folder (like Sent Items or a custom one), it always redirects to the Inbox and opens the first message in it.
Is it a known limitation of this parameter? Is there a workaround to achieve this?
Best regards!

Outlook plug-in

I'm looking build an outlook addin that can do the following. Would like to hear tips from anyone who might have done this before.
Upon install, read the person's profile in outlook and call a service which will create an account for that person in my app
When person sends an email from outlook with a .pptx/.ppt file(s) attached, it calls a service to automatically upload that file(s) into my app.
Upon install, read the person's profile in outlook and call a service which will create an account for that person in my app
You can use Namespace.CurrentProfileName property introduced with Outlook 2007.
When person sends an email from outlook with a .pptx/.ppt file(s) attached, it calls a service to automatically upload that file(s) into my app.
The Application.ItemSend event is fired whenever an Microsoft Outlook item is sent, either by the user through an Inspector (before the inspector is closed, but after the user clicks the Send button) or when the Send method for an Outlook item, such as MailItem , is used. So, in the event handler you can check the Attachments collection for the files specified and do your web calls.

Setting Activity Category on Email tracked from Outlook to CRM

I'm using Dynamics CRM 2015 (7.0.2.53) and Outlook 2016 (16.0.7766.7080) with the CRM for Outlook (7.1.1.3113) addin.
What I am trying to achieve is to give users the ability to specify an Activity Category against an email which they Track and Set Regarding from Outlook.
Currently, upon tracking and setting regarding on an email in Outlook, an Email Activity is created against the specified Entity record (let's say an Opportunity) in CRM, which is fine. The problem is that I cannot find any way to allow the user to specify an Activity Category for that created Activity either during the Track/Set Regarding process, or even after the Activity is created in CRM.
Is what I'm trying to achieve possible and if not, is there any other way to achieve a similar result, so that users can specify some value from a set of options against an email when they track it from Outlook to CRM, so that value can then be used for reporting purposes?
Basically there is no way of adding some custom functionality to Tracking Emails from Outlook. So you cannot add anything in Outlook plugin that will allow you to perform some operation on CRM side to set the Category right.
You can always make a plugin/workflow on Email creation in CRM and based on some email properties (topic, content, recipients etc.) set this category by youself - but of course users still will be unable to change it.
When email is created in CRM, it's disabled (because it usually already has been sent), but you can still modify it using workflows and dialogs. So you can always create a Dialog (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg509010.aspx) and there you can prompt for proper category and set it on the email. So I can see a scenario like that - you have a view of Emails that are not categorized (or a Queue, where you put them in a plugin when user is tracking email from outlook). You pick Email, click "Start Dialog" which will be called "Set Category" or whatever, and set the category. Of course after this operation Email will vanish from the view. You can always create a reminder for the users to set the category for their mails, this should be included in new users training etc. Without any hardcore custom coding I think that's the only thing you can do (because if you don't mind writing more complex stuff you can always prepare some custom HTML5 control on Email form that will allow you to set the category field).

Outlook Addin - Wait for a response

I have an Outlook Addin that creates a contact on a webpage by making an API call to that webpage. When the Addin runs (via the click of a button), the API call is made and the user is taken to that webpage to fill in the contact information. After the user has filled in the information and clicks on submit, I would like to catch that event in Outlook and get the user back to Outlook to carry out further actions. Any possible ways of getting this done? I've been looking online but haven't found any solution as such.
Try to display the web page in a modal dialog in your own form. When the form is closed, you can take whatever action is necessary.
You may find the ItemSend event of the Application class helpful. It is fired whenever an Microsoft Outlook item is sent, either by the user through an Inspector (before the inspector is closed, but after the user clicks the Send button) or when the Send method for an Outlook item, such as MailItem, is used in a program.
Also you may consider repurposing ribbon controls. See Temporarily Repurpose Commands on the Office Fluent Ribbon for more information.
