The program can't start because api-ms-win-downlevel-kernel32-l2-1-0.dll is missing - After UE4 update - windows-7

running Unreal Engine 4.26 on a Windows 7 machine. Recently updated from 4.25 to this version. Now getting this error..
"The program can't start because
api-ms-win-downlevel-kernel32-l2-1-0.dll is missing"
Anyone able to assist to advise please?

I found the solution, after a bit of digging and searching put it in this post and video:
https://www.georgenischal.com/blog/api-ms-win-downlevel-kernel32-l2-1-0-dll-error-unreal-4-26-2021.html
UE4 forum talking about the issue: https://forums.unrealengine.com/unreal-engine/feedback-for-epic/1850218-prgram-cant-start-cause-api-ms-win-downlevel-kernal32-blah-blah-dll-is-missing/page2
Msdownload page for DLL: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4507456
Seems its related to a windows security update. Please avoid downloading the DLL from dodgy search results on google or youtube which I almost did..
If you want to download a dLL, look on the links on my blogpost.. Google search is clearly broken, had to go down a few pages to find the result, all other links were spammy DLL download pages..

Where is WinAPI documentation?

E.g. I search “JetCommitTransaction”, search finds https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg269191(v=exchg.10).aspx which redirects to https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/
That API is available in all versions of Windows starting from Win2000 to the very latest Win10, and even available for Windows 10 UWP apps, https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/uwp/win32-and-com/win32-apis#apis-from-esentdll so it’s not deprecated or something.
archive.org works but it's slow and inconvenient.
Microsoft is moving all documentation from msdn.microsoft.com to learn.microsoft.com so I assume this will work itself out after a while but this is the first time I have seen a completely broken redirect.
I think Google cache and Archive.org are your best options for now. You could also try contacting #docsmsft/Github issues.
We are working on moving all MSDN documentation to learn.microsoft.com. Some of the redirects were accidentally deployed early - those have been rolled back, until the migration is complete. In the meantime, the documentation is accessible on MSDN on the links you specified above.

visual basic 6 offline api documentation

Does anyone have an offline visual basic 6 api documentation in pdf, chm or hlp format.
Any help is welcome, nothing is too OLD documentation..
PS: I don't know where else to post it. Please move the post to correct section if it is in incorrect section
The MSDN library for VB6 ships with the installer discs and can be downloaded from MSDN. The MSDN installation is available offline after installation to your machine.
I don't think there is an official download for non-subscribers. So you either need to find the discs that shipped with the original product, or download them from your subscription.
What I did is that I saved the content, API description from the website in docx. Yes it took time. about 20 mins

SIMILE Timeline - hosting on your own server

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with hosting MIT's SIMILE Timeline on their own server. I have been trying to do so for a few days now, following the instructions provided via http://api.simile-widgets.org/timeline/2.3.1/timeline-api.js?bundle=true, but have not had any luck. I have downloaded the zip file which contains the files the instructions tell you to reference. I have searched google to the ends but have not found anything that is helpful.
If anyone has any knowledge of working with the SIMILE Timeline, I would greatly appreciate some advice/direction. Everything I have found seems to be pretty dated.
The best place to ask SIMILE-Widgets questions is here:
https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/simile-widgets
This documentation worked for me:
http://simile-widgets.org/wiki/Timeline#How-Tos
There are plenty of experienced and helpful users in that group. You will need to be clearer about what you're actually having trouble with. For example, are you getting a blank screen, an error message, etc. Are you able to provide a link to your attempt?

Somebody have AccExplorer32.exe?

I tried getting AccExplorer32 from this link http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd631969.aspx and many others, but it says that Page cannot be found. Can someone please upload it somewhere, I'll appreciate it.
EDIT:
AccExplorer32 is not included in the current SDK (7.1). It's replaced with UISpy, which is also not included in 7.1. But you can download it from here: http://andrewtokeley.net/archive/2009/09/15/uispy-ndash-download-it-here.aspx (broken link)
As you say, UISpy.exe is not in the v7.1 SDK. It has been replaced by Inspect.exe which is in the v7.1 SDK Tools, works very well, and does both MSAA and UIA.
More details on Inspect is here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd318521(v=vs.85).aspx
Here is a forum with a valid link that might solve your problem:
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsaccessibilityandautomation/thread/81dbfae1-7f57-44e2-ac47-9fd20b1bef54
AccExplorer32.exe
I had great difficulty in finding this tool (among others from MS used for accessibility testing), so I have uploaded a copy to my GitHub repo.
Accessibility tools
AccExplorer32.exe
inspect32.exe
I am working on a legacy project where the newer tools like Accessibility insights are not that helpful. The older tools were focused more towards MSAA (Microsoft Active accessibility), while newer tools are focused more towards Microsoft UI Automation.

Guidance Automation Extension Installation - blank popup

i got this weird popup while installing GAE. Any ideas ?
alt text http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/f2fa08b9c7.jpg
I had this problem also, do you have an existing GAE installed? or GAT?
you can run the installer with msiexec -i /vi*x packageinstall.log to get a lot more information. I did all kinds of crazy registry edits and and other articles found on the web.
My question to MS is here
Finally after running the force uninstaller (as mine said it was installed but not functional) I finally got it going.
Guidance Automation without proper guidance, that is. I just uninstalled it. This is clearly a buggy software from Microsoft.
