I use ECLiPSe 7.0 for run that script.
That's something Prolog/ECLiPSe beginners occasionally stumble over: The "less-equal" sign is =<, not <= as in many other languages. Best remembered by visualizing the shape of the operator:
It's actually more beautiful, isn't it? As to why it was done this way, folklore says that one wanted to reserve the <= as a left arrow or reverse implication symbol.

Here is my code:

I get: *nil can't be coerced into Bignum* error when I run the code.
The issue is with the range in countNumbers method.
0..list.count returns 0 to 100 with 100 included but list[100] is nil.
Change it to 0...list.count with return 0 to 99.

here's a practice question - Write a method that will take in a number of minutes, and returns a string that formats the number into hours:minutes.

the following are tests to see if this works. if they return true then it means my code works correctly.

sometimes i get true for the first two tests but the third test line shows false even though the code will print out exactly the required.
other times I get the following error:

please assist.
The error mainly refers to this line
time = hours + ":" + mins
hours & mins are Fixnum, whereas ":" is String
As the error message indicates, "String can't be coerced into Fixnum".
You could either do time = hours.to_s + ":" + minutes.to_s or time = "#{hours}:#{minutes}".
Because Fixnum#+ takes a Numeral argument, not a String.
I have the following code:

However, when I run:
term_to_packet("Hello").
I get an error:
exception error: bad argument in function term_to_packet line 20
where line 20 corresponds to the last line of the term_to_packet function.
I'm not quite sure what's throwing this error.
B is a binary, but in the binary construction on the last line you specify that it is an integer. This seems to work:
term_to_packet(Term) ->
B = term_to_binary(Term),
A = byte_size(B),

I am creating a basic image editor for a test (the image is just a sequence of letters).
I have written a Cucumber story:

This is the step code:

The function exec_cmd in the program recognizes the command and launches the appropriate action. In this case it will launch the following

However, this always fails unless I hardcode the values of the two local variables (pos and color) in the function in the program itself.
Why? It doesn's seem I'm doing anything wrong in the program itself: the function does what it's supposed to do and those two variables are only useful locally. So I'd think this is a problem with my use of cucumber. How do I properly test this?

It's not a cucumber issue.
The problem was that, in exec_cmd, split was called only in the "case" clause, not in the "when"s. This meant that, since the command's format was "a 1 2 b", cmd[1] in the "when" would call the second character of the string, a space, not the second value of the array, and the other functions would convert that to_i, returning 0.
I changed exec_cmd like this:

which fixed the issue.
