In Oracle customer portal (rightNow) I want to to change the selected value of the ProductCategoryInput widget dynamically which is already setup with attribute name="Incident.Products".
for example,if I had two radio buttons:
Employee.
Student.
So, if you clicked on employee, the ProductCategoryInput widget selected value changed to Information Technology.
and, if you clicked on student, the ProductCategoryInput widget selected value changed to Education affairs.
to sum up, I want ProductCategoryInput dropdown list value to be triggered dynamically using JS
If the subscribed events of the default widget don't work for your use case, which it sounds like they don't, then you can extend the default code with your own custom code (i.e. a custom widget) to create an event subscription that will update the value when triggered. This is a common practice to update and extend the capabilities of the default widgets. You can use the Customer Portal public documentation and the widget documentation in Customer Portal administration to explore the default functionality and plan for any updates that you might need in order to achieve your desired functionality.

Scenario/Context
I've got a drop down menu with two input elements underneath.
From the dropdown menu, are names of companies (with values set to the respective company id's), and another prompt to Add a new company.
If the option to Add a new company is selected from the dropdown, then the user is to fill out the 2 input field elements (i.e. company name and company email).
Otherwise, if an available company is selected from the dropdown,
then the 2 input fields (for company name and email are to be disabled).
My question
Is this possible to do without an AJAX call if I want things to happen without a page refresh?
Can anyone suggest some other alternatives??
Many thanks!
That is absolutely possible, though you'd need to use some JavaScript to make it happen and load a bit more data to the DOM on the initial page load.
For each option in your company select dropdown, add a data attribute for the name and email.
Then, watch that dropdown for the change event in JavaScript. Whenever that event is fired, if the data-company-name and data-company-email attributes are defined for the selected option, disable the input fields and populate them with those values. If those data attributes are not defined for the option (likely only for your 'Add a new company' option), then clear the values from the input fields and enable them.
I create a new Activity in Microsoft dynamic CRM for sending SMS. but i dont need the "Subject" field in Activity Form and want to ignore it.
I tried to hide the subject field but is require field.
first i deselect the visible by default option in field property. after publish the customization i open the form and subject field has been hide. but when i pressed the Save button, activity form alert me You must provide a value for Subject. and show subject field.
how can i ignore Subject or define a default value for it?
You just need to change the requirement level.
On the form designer double click on the field. This will show you the Field Properties where the Visible by default checkbox is.
Click on the Details tab and then click the Edit button.
Here you can set the Requirement Level from Business Required to No Constraint.
Now you can hide the field from your form.
Save and Publish your customizations.
Your other option is using JavaScript.
On Load of the form you could use the following:
// Change the required level
Xrm.Page.getAttribute("subject").setRequiredLevel("none");
On Save you could use the following:
// Set a default value
Xrm.Page.getAttribute("subject").setValue("This is your default value");
I have a Magento product page producing static select elements, to which the price mechanism is tied in to backend, so i can't touch those dropdowns. I am using an angular.js radio element to recieve user input, which should in turn update the static dropdown's selected option.
I don't know how to link the two, I have recreated the problem here: http://jsfiddle.net/ldn_tech_exec/smBdC/1/
I want the radio button to update the dropdown, but I can only manipulate the dropdown after it has been created, perhaps using jquery to insert any angular directives required.
UPDATED again: Your select list needs an ng-model and the options should be generated with ng-options. When you select a radio button, the controller method you trigger should update that ng-model, which will cause the select list to update.
See http://docs.angularjs.org/api/ng.directive:select
Another way to do this is to use ng-selected. See
http://docs.angularjs.org/api/ng.directive:ngSelected
UPDATE #3: I missed the fact that you can't modify the select list initially. See my fiddle in the comments below for a working solution.
It sounds like you have some product where the price depends on the options set.
If this is the case then updating the drop-down from your radio button is relatively trivial - or at least depending on your prototype/jquery skills.
However there is a gotcha: once you update the drop-down in javascript with an 'invisible hand' there is a whole lot more javascript code to update the price and availability. To do this you need to bubble the event. This doesn't happen automatically if using prototype.
I hoped I could rustle up the 'bubble code' but I don't currently have it to hand, besides, you aren't stuck at that point, yet...
I'm currently using jqGrid and ASP.Net MVC. With my current project, my goal is to provide a grid of data to the end user, and they can then edit this. The data is machine-generated, and the users will be confirming if the machine is correct or not.
I think ideally for speed, I'd like to provide a row per item, with a radio button group as the editable. The users could then pick from the values 'Unknown', 'Correct', 'Incorrect'.
As there will be a lot of data, I'd also like to provide a control of some type that can set all rows in the grid to one of the available radio button choices, for the user experience.
Given that there seems to be no native support for this in jqGrid, I wanted to ask if anyone has had any experience writing something like this, and whether this is achievable and reliable, or whether I should stick with the drop-down editable approach that is native to jqGrid.
To implement radio button as the editable instead of the standard drop-down editable approach you can use so named custom editing feature of jqGrid (see http://www.trirand.com/jqgridwiki/doku.php?id=wiki:common_rules#custom). This allows you to create any custom control to edit the cell value. An example of the implementation you can find here: Add multiple input elements in a custom edit type field.
To set all rows in the grid to one of the available radio button choices you can use either a control outside of jqGrid or add an additional custom button in the navigation bar (see http://www.trirand.com/jqgridwiki/doku.php?id=wiki:custom_buttons). If you search for navButtonAdd you will find a lot of examples how to implement this, for example, Jqgrid: navigation based on the selected row. Because you use server based data, you can just call a method on the server to make the changes which you need and then call trigger("reloadGrid") to refresh jqGrid data.
I have an application that is centered around a database (ORM is LINQ-SQL) that has a table called Assignment. I am using the repository pattern to manipulate the database. My application is basically going to perform CRUD operations. I am new to delegates and events and I am asking you what events I should create (like maybe AssignmentCreating, AssignmentCreated) and what kind of delegate to use (like maybe a custom delegate or just an EventHandler)? UPDATE: My application has a ListView with some columns that show some data. On the right side, I have a panel with textboxes binded to the values of the currently selected assignment. Like a textbox for Score, one for title, etc. and they are all editable. That deals with the Read and Update. Then I have a custom dialog box that has the same kinds of textboxes, and the dialog Creates new assignments. Then users can just select an assignment and Delete it via the Delete button, or a context menu.
