I'm trying to analyse IIS logs for an existing web application which is running on DNN 9 (has been migrated along the years) and I'm wondering if anyone can help me understand what's the story with the /portals/portalID/0-system and /portals/portalID/0 folders. It seems like they're used for some sort of caching, but how?
I'm interested in these folders because I've found several requests for an URL on the form (on different days):
/Portals/17-System/Cache/Pages/some_resource.aspx
But there's no file with that name on the folder...
Can anyone help?
File based output caching will save content to the folder. As cache expires the file is deleted.

I uploaded a new .php file to GoDaddy via Cpanel. It works on my local, but when I try to run it on live, it shows 404 on console. Seems like it cannot see the new file.
Is there some sort of latency on Godaddy servers like uploaded files appear X hours later or something? Or what may be wrong?
Nope Cpannel is pretty close to instant. Be sure your .php file is named index.php and is in a folder that has the desired url. (This may not be what’s preventing you from seeing the file, just a common issue I’ve seen that’s on the quick check list.) do not use capital letters or spaces when naming your index file.
You also get hosting support over the phone with godaddy. This is there number. +1-480-463-8389.

I am confused about the deployment of the laravel project in the live server.
I searched for this and found many solutions.
There are many processes to deploy laravel projects in a live server.
Someone suggesting to remove all files and folder from public folder
someone saying to change .htaccess etc.
What is the perfect way to deploy laravel projects in the live server?
If, I have to remove public folder then, why laravel included it?
If I have to copy .htaccess to root directory and need to change it.
Then why it is not used laravel as default. Would someone explain it to me, please?
I want to prevent users access for my "~/Content/..." folder I wrote it as follow in "Global.asax.cs" and put this line of code at the top of every other routes
routes.IgnoreRoute("Content/{*pathInfo}");
but it does not work. in fact user can see every files in content folder by type the URL in browser.
am I missing something?
How did you figure out that it does not work? Give example.
You may have put it last in the Routing table. So try to move it up so that it gets added to the routing table first. The route collection is an ordered list of routes.
Also try this : Routes.IgnoreRoute("Content/");, but your version of ignore is also correct and it should work.
Lastly, I do not know what you mean when you say the user can see all the contents of the Content folder : Isn't that the point? User must be able to download files from the folder, and we usually just need MVC to ignore the requests from coming into the framework, and so that IIS can directly serve those files.
or did you mean Directory browsing is enabled, and you want to disable that : In that case go to IIS manager, and select your website and look for the Directory browsing option and disable it as shown here.
Your problem cannot be solved by routing constraints. There are 3 significant steps in processing request:
IIS got request.
IIS watch at filesystem and search for direct correspondence to file
If IIS didn't found any file - it gives request to ASP.NET MVC for processing.
So, you need to configure folder security to forbidden direct access to files, but allow access to application, as here.
But I don't recommend to secure folder, that should be shared. I don't believe that your site shouldn't have images to display :) If you have some secured content, you need to create another folder.
This is my first post to this Forum, please forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere--I did search and was unable to find an answer to my particular problem, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am working on a WP site for a client who wants to upload images to new posts (who doesn't hey?). In setting up the site I have done the following:
1) Enabled File Upload by CHMOD default dir to 777.
2) Changed max file size.
3) Changed allowed filetypes to include necessary file types.
When I try to upload anything I get the following error:
“Bobst Expertfold 80 110 (Dec 2010).jpg” has failed to upload due to an error
The uploaded file could not be moved to /var/www/vhosts/glossopcartons.com/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads/2010/12.
The above error mentions 'glossopcartons.com', this WP site is actually sat on glossopcartons.co.uk. It's obvious that there is some kind of virtual host configuration going on and the image is trying to be uploaded to a folder on a different domain (glossopcartons.com instead of glossopcartons.co.uk).
I don't manage the hosting, I have just been assigned with the build. However, I have access to the plesk cpanel but I dont know what I need to do?
Does anyone know what is causing this problem? The site has actually been made live and this issue has been spotted after the launch(everything worked fine on the test server), and I am scratching my head trying to figure it out.
Is there something I can put in my wp-config.php or .htaccess file to tell WP to upload to a different location.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First thing is 777 permisions are too loose and will get you hacked; they should be no more than 755. Hardening WordPress « WordPress Codex
For the difference in URLs: that sounds like a DNS or virtual host config, but try adding the full URL path in Settings>>Media Settings. Might not work.
Why are there sites at both domains? Why not domain forward glossopcartons.com to glossopcartons.co.uk?
Make sure PHP lets you upload files larger than what you are trying to upload.
Experienced the same problem on several old sites. This problem occurs sporadically and is not commonly occuring on other websites on the same server
Try going to your "Media Settings" page... do you see a "Store uploads in this folder" option with a long path to your uploads folder? If so... this is your problem... WordPress 3.5+ does not seem to require this long path, but more of a site relative path (which is great!)
Change your "Store uploads in this folder" to "wp-content/uploads"... when you "save settings" you should see that field disapear entirely, never to bother us again ;-)
This occured for me when my hosting provider changed the folder structure on the server making this long URL incorrect. Therefore WordPress could not find the "uploads" directory at all.

Here's some things you might want to check in case your still having problems...
Update to WordPress 3.5 +
Update all plugins
Check file permissions 755 on the uploads dir/
Check PHP version
So i have a client, who has a disc of an entire site. Root server files, all the way to /httphome/ files...
However, it looks like it was created using Joomla. Now, i know my HTMl and CSS but have never used a CMS like Joomla.
To get this site up and running, am i going to have to install Joomla on my clients server, and then upload the files?
i am going to assume its not that easy.... anyone got any insight into this process and what im looking at?

Keep in mind that Joomla content resides in a MySql database.
You need the following:
Database export
Create a DB on you MySQL server
Upload the files
Edit configuration.php to work with you db and also set your path there
Also, some components might need some more setup, as some of them have their own cfg files.
To get this site up and running (if the file is really the entire site) should be as simple as setting up a web server and pointing it to the directory with the index in it. Joomla should already be in that file. Let me know if i can elaborate on the process.
Since you are new to Joomla, you might want to try loading the disc contents up on your localhost first. Personally, when I'm trying something new, I hate for my first attempts to be somewhat public - I always feel a little safer if I do the first install someplace local where I'm the only person who can see it.

Do you have the related database? The files that make up Joomla are useless without the database. You could install Joomla and upload your files over the top, but any database changes made by any installed extensions wouldn't be made to that install. You'd also be missing all of the actual site content without the database.
If you do have the database, then all you need to do is import the database in you your mySQL, then upload the files you have on the disc and edit configuration.php file with the new database user and password.
