Today, I updated a nuget package, and after this, my code behind for several content views was missing. I can't find the missing files in finder or in my solution. Using Visual Studio 2019 for Mac.
Tried:
Clean and Rebuild, unload, and restart Visual studio and Machine.

I am working on a Xamarin.Forms app in Visual Studio using Visual Studio Online Team Explorer. But whenever I try to build my main project or iOS project I get the following error:
/Users/test/Visual Studio/workspace/MyProject.iOS/MyProject.iOS.csproj(5,5): Error: This project references NuGet package(s) that are missing on this computer. Use NuGet Package Restore to download them. For more information, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=322105. The missing file is ../../packages/Xamarin.Forms.2.5.1.444934/build/netstandard1.0/Xamarin.Forms.props. (MyProject.iOS)
I tired looking for the NuGet store but couldn't find it on the mac version. It is already installed on my windows laptop that also uses it.
In Visual Studio for Mac, you can manipulate your packages using the Project menu. In your case, you'll want to use Project|Restore NuGet Packages.
While attempting to build or open a project in Visual Studio 2015 14.0.25431.01 Update 3 which I recently updated, I keep getting errors around nuget package management. Whenever I build the project the first time after opening VS, I get the error message below. I also get it when I try to open the nuget package manager dialog. Anyone else experience this?
An exception was thrown while initializing part
"Nuget.PackageManagement.VisualStudio.VSolutionManager".
GetFullVsVersionString must be called on the UI thread.
I had the exact same issue as you and I was able to get NuGet to work again for me by doing the following simple steps.
Completely close all versions and windows of Visual Studio
Reopen a blank Visual Studio window
Navigate to Tools -> NuGet Package Manager -> Package Manager Settings
Press "OK"
Open the project you were having issues with
Try opening "Manage NuGet Packages..." or running your project
Your issue should now be fixed!
I had originally tried uninstalling NuGet and reinstalling it through the "Extensions and Updates" under "Tools" to no avail. The solution I listed above fixed it instantly.
It appears reinstalling Nuget Package Manager for Visual Studio in the Extensions & Tools dialog may have fixed it.
-First
Delete all cache on C:\Users\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\14.0\ComponentModelCache
-Second
Reinstall Nuget package manager by Tools->Extensions and Updates. After that restart your visual studio
-Third
Go to Tools->Nuget Package Manager->Package Manager Settings of blank project (for create new cache), and after that, try on your project
I was getting this with a Visual Studio Extension from Telerik. Once I uninstalled it went away.
In VisualStudio 2015 -> Tools -> Extensions and updates -> Online: Search for the string: "Fix NuGet GetFullVsVersionString must be called on the UI thread"
and install the given fix.
Alternatively you can download the fix at :
GetFullVsVersionString fix
Now in February 2018, the latest NuGet Package Manager version 3.4.4.1321 does not have the fix included, so the patch must be applied.
As Steve Greene's answer describes, I also had the Telerik extension installed, so that might have caused the problem.
This problem can happen if you have Xamarin for Visual Studio installed. There is a NuGet bug reported about this.
If you have Xamarin component in one of your projects and then try to use NuGet then NuGet can be called on the wrong thread.
There is a separate Xamarin extension that can be installed to fix this problem with Xamarin for Visual Studio.
Run the Visual Studio as 'Run as administrator' mode.
If it does not work then, if you have other version of Visual Studio like 2013
then uninstall all and install again.
This is what worked for me (VisualStudio 2015):
Uninstalling NuGetPackageManager in Tools->Extensions and Updates.
Closing all open VisualStudio.
Deleting the cache on C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\14.0\ComponentModelCache
Restart PC
Install NuGetPackageManager in Tools->Extensions and Updates in a blank application or on the startup VisualStudio screen.
Close every VisualStudio again.
Finally it should work.
I had to follow this process or it did not work.
I downloaded PTVS RC today and installed it. After restarting VS, there was an error about importing Python Tools that said the following and solutions were not being loaded:
No exports were found that match the constraint
Based on this post here at SO, i renamed my ComponentModelCache file. Now although VS loads old solutions, all I see is an Attach button and no Run/Debug button. For new projects, it works fine. I am using Visual Studio 2013 Professional Edition. Any help?
It seems like the issue is not with PTVS RC. Although I had only 1 project in my solution, all I had to do was set the startup Project. This can be done by right-clicking on the solution. Once the startup project is set, the solution is good to run.
During visual studio startup I get lots of annoying dialogs about extensions package loading errors.
All the extensions that fail to load are those I uninstalled.
I checked all the places mentioned in this article (Bootstrapping of VS packages and VSIX extensions in VS2010) and none of the extensions I get error for is there.
Is there somewhere else I can check?
I would "just" like to see where visual studio finds these references and kindly delete them all :)
I found this folder in the windows registry:
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3990449039-760197492-1239349315-1121\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0_Config\Packages
It contains all the reference to extensions visual studio tries to load (mostly pointing to HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3990449039-760197492-1239349315-1121\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0_Config\InstalledProducts subfolders).
I just renamed the folder of the extensions I did remove and I do not see load errors anymore.
I'm sure this could cause some side effects so is anyone aware of a better way to avoid visual studio trying to load uninstalled extensions?
This is the correct answer:
Close Visual Studio.
Backup, and then delete Visual Studio's AppData folder. For example:
Visual Studio 2010:
%AppData%\..\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0
Visual Studio 2012:
%AppData%\..\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\11.0
Visual Studio 2013:
%AppData%\..\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\12.0
Restart Visual Studio and enjoy.
I had a problem like this after upgrading SmartBear AQTime where I removed IDE integration (which doesn't work well anyway, may as well run standalone). VS2010 complained no startup about packages which didn't load correctly.
I actually deleted the contents of
AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\Extensions
and this fixed things entirely.
I encount this problem after removing devexpress from my computer, and I cleaned the registries yesterday, then I delete the devenv.CTM file in
%AppData%..\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\1033 file and restart my VS, it works!
I have GAT 2010, GAX 2010 and SCSF 2010 extensions installed for VS2010 Ultimate. I had the Guidance Package templates for creating modules used CAB projects. Today I found out that they are now missing and I can't seem to get them back. I've tried running devenv /installvstemplates as suggested for other missing templates, but that didn't work. I've also reinstalled all three extension packages and that still didn't fix it. Any other ideas?
The Guidance Package somehow became disassociated with my project. By opening the Guidance Navigator from menu under View > Other Windows > Guidance Navigator, I was able to select the Smart Client Software Factory 2010 package and re-associate it with the project. After I did that, the templates reappeared in the new project wizard.
