How do I get the Spotless Maven plugin to format all Kotlin source files?
<plugin>
<groupId>com.diffplug.spotless</groupId>
<artifactId>spotless-maven-plugin</artifactId>
<executions>
<execution>
<id>spotless-apply</id>
<phase>compile</phase>
<configuration>
<kotlin>
<ktlint/>
</kotlin>
</configuration>
<goals>
<goal>apply</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>
Not sure why your current configuration doesn't work, maybe its because the config is inside the execution block? If you move it up one level and then replace the apply with check it will work.
<plugin>
<groupId>com.diffplug.spotless</groupId>
<artifactId>spotless-maven-plugin</artifactId>
<configuration>
<kotlin>
<ktlint />
</kotlin>
</configuration>
<executions>
<execution>
<phase>compile</phase>
<goals>
<goal>check</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>

I'm working on a Project which uses the same Plugin Multiple Times in multiple Parent Pom Files.
Normally, if you use two Plugins in the same maven phase, it will execute the plugin which is first defined in the POM.
In my case Maven merges the Plugins which causes my Plugins to be executed in the wrong order.
I want my Plugins to be executed in the following Order:
first,second,third,fourth
But the order it executes them is:
first,second,fourth,third
These are my POM's:
ParentParentPom.xml
<plugins>
<plugin>
<groupId>com.google.code.maven-replacer-plugin</groupId>
<artifactId>replacer</artifactId>
<version>1.5.3</version>
<configuration></configuration>
<executions>
<execution>
<id>first-plugin-execution</id>
<phase>prepare-package</phase>
<goals>
<goal>replace</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>
<plugin>
<groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId>
<artifactId>exec-maven-plugin</artifactId>
<version>3.0.0</version>
<executions>
<execution>
<id>second-plugin-execution</id>
<phase>generate-sources</phase>
<goals>
<goal>java</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>
</plugins>
ParentPom.xml
<plugins>
<plugin>
<groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId>
<artifactId>exec-maven-plugin</artifactId>
<version>3.0.0</version>
<executions>
<execution>
<id>third-plugin-execution</id>
<phase>compile</phase>
<goals>
<goal>java</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>
<plugin>
<groupId>com.google.code.maven-replacer-plugin</groupId>
<artifactId>replacer</artifactId>
<version>1.5.3</version>
<configuration></configuration>
<executions>
<execution>
<id>fourth-plugin-execution</id>
<phase>compile</phase>
<goals>
<goal>replace
</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>
</plugins>
Effective Pom.xml
I looked into the Effective Pom of my Project and saw that Maven merged the plugins like this:
<plugins>
<plugin>
<groupId>com.google.code.maven-replacer-plugin</groupId>
<artifactId>replacer</artifactId>
<version>1.5.3</version>
<executions>
<execution>
<id>first-plugin-execution</id>
<phase>prepare-package</phase>
<goals>
<goal>replace</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
<execution>
<id>fourth-plugin-execution</id>
<phase>compile</phase>
<goals>
<goal>replace</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>
<plugin>
<groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId>
<artifactId>exec-maven-plugin</artifactId>
<version>3.0.0</version>
<executions>
<execution>
<id>second-plugin-execution</id>
<phase>generate-sources</phase>
<goals>
<goal>java</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
<execution>
<id>third-plugin-execution</id>
<phase>compile</phase>
<goals>
<goal>java</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>
</plugins>
Changing the Phases of the Plugins is not an option because these plugins rely on plugins which are executed in the compile phase and other plugins rely on the execution of the thrith and fourth execution too.
Is there any way I can prevent maven from merging these plugins together, so that they stay in the right order?
i have added a plug in like
<plugin>
<groupId>com.diffplug.spotless</groupId>
<artifactId>spotless-maven-plugin</artifactId>
<version>2.0.2</version>
<configuration>
<java>
<googleJavaFormat>
<version>1.7</version>
<style>GOOGLE</style>
</googleJavaFormat>
</java>
</configuration>
<executions>
<execution>
<goals>
<goal>check</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>
i want me code to be reformated automatically using this plug in. i have old project where i am trying to use this
but it just list down the violation it does not auto reformat it.
After builing it just faild the build wd violation
i tried updating goals apply
<goals>
<goal>apply</goal>
</goals>
but that is also not working
Try using goal apply within process-classes phase:
<plugin>
<groupId>com.diffplug.spotless</groupId>
<artifactId>spotless-maven-plugin</artifactId>
<version>2.17.4</version>
<configuration>
<java>
<googleJavaFormat>
<version>1.7</version>
<style>GOOGLE</style>
</googleJavaFormat>
</java>
</configuration>
<executions>
<execution>
<goals>
<goal>check</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
<execution>
<id>apply</id>
<phase>process-classes</phase>
<goals>
<goal>apply</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>
I am currently working on Jacoco code coverage for a Maven project with Cucumber integration tests.
My pom.xml file has jacoco and failsafe plugins as shown in the pictures, with reference from https://github.com/dimazelinskyi/jacoco-coverage-cucumber-unit-tests.
<plugin>
<groupId>org.jacoco</groupId>
<artifactId>jacoco-maven-plugin</artifactId>
<version>0.8.3</version>
<executions>
<execution>
<id>prepare-agent</id>
<goals>
<goal>prepare-agent</goal>
</goals>
<configuration>
<destFile>${project.basedir}/target/jacoco-reports/jacoco-test.exec</destFile>
<propertyName>failsafeJacocoAgent</propertyName>
</configuration>
</execution>
<execution>
<id>jacoco-site</id>
<goals>
<goal>report</goal>
</goals>
<configuration>
<dataFile>${project.basedir}/target/jacoco-reports/jacoco-test.exec</dataFile>
<outputDirectory>${project.basedir}/target/jacoco-reports/jacoco-test</outputDirectory>
</configuration>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>
<plugin>
<groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
<artifactId>maven-failsafe-plugin</artifactId>
<version>2.12</version>
<executions>
<execution>
<id>integration-test</id>
<phase>integration-test</phase>
<goals>
<goal>integration-test</goal>
<goal>verify</goal>
</goals>
<configuration>
<argLine>${failsafeJacocoAgent}</argLine>
</configuration>
</execution>
<execution>
<id>junit-integration-test</id>
<goals>
<goal>integration-test</goal>
<goal>verify</goal>
</goals>
<phase>integration-test</phase>
<configuration>
<testNGArtifactName>none:none</testNGArtifactName>
<argLine>${failsafeJacocoAgent}</argLine>
</configuration>
</execution>
<execution>
<id>testng-integration-test</id>
<phase>integration-test</phase>
<goals>
<goal>integration-test</goal>
<goal>verify</goal>
</goals>
<configuration>
<argLine>${failsafeJacocoAgent}</argLine>
</configuration>
</execution>
</executions>
<configuration>
<includes>
<include>**/CukeRunnerTest.java</include>
</includes>
<systemPropertyVariables>
<isMavenTest>true</isMavenTest>
<client.uri>${wipdm.app.base.url}</client.uri>
<cucumber.options>${async.option}</cucumber.options>
</systemPropertyVariables>
<properties>
<async.option>--tags ~#longRunningTest</async.option>
</properties>
</configuration>
</plugin>
And the CukeRunnerTest.java file looks like this: CukeRunnerTest.java
When I build with maven i.e. mvn clean install, all tests successfully pass, however I get a message saying
[INFO] Loading execution data file C:\Users\...\IdeaProjects\...\target\jacoco-reports\jacoco-test.exec
[INFO] Analyzed bundle 'wipdata-war' with 0 classes
The build is successful and jacoco-it.exec file is generated, but no reports are generated.
Is this expected behaviour? As I thought that jacoco would check the Cucumber feature files inside "src/test/features/v3" (which is stated inside CukeRunnerTest.java) to see which code in the java files they covered in their integration tests.
Any advice or help is much appreciated.
I'm using Mockserver maven plugin to mock some requests for integration tests.
My pom.xml looks like:
...
<plugin>
<groupId>org.mock-server</groupId>
<artifactId>mockserver-maven-plugin</artifactId>
<version>5.5.1</version>
<configuration>
<serverPort>1080</serverPort>
<logLevel>DEBUG</logLevel>
<initializationClass>com.mycompany.ExampleInitializationClass</initializationClass>
</configuration>
<executions>
<execution>
<id>run-mockserver</id>
<phase>pre-integration-test</phase>
<goals>
<goal>start</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
<execution>
<id>stop-mockserver</id>
<phase>post-integration-test</phase>
<goals>
<goal>stop</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>
...
Problem here is that I have to provide expectations using a class (com.mycompany.ExampleInitializationClass) and I want to provide expectations using a JSON file like described here:
http://www.mock-server.com/mock_server/initializing_expectations.html
I didn't find any way in the plugin configuration to initialize the Mockserver with the property:
-Dmockserver.initializationJsonPath
Is there any way to achieve that? Thanks in advance.
You just have to define initializationJson property specifying path to JSON file with expectations:
<plugin>
<groupId>org.mock-server</groupId>
<artifactId>mockserver-maven-plugin</artifactId>
<version>5.5.1</version>
<configuration>
<serverPort>1080</serverPort>
<logLevel>DEBUG</logLevel>
<initializationJson>expectations.json</initializationJson>
</configuration>
<executions>
...
</executions>
</plugin>
The catch here is that the file path is relative to testClasspath directory (e.g. ${project.basedir}/target/test-classes/), so you have to copy the expectation file there. You may use e.g. maven-antrun-plugin for this (as below) or
maven-resources-plugin.
<plugin>
<artifactId>maven-antrun-plugin</artifactId>
<executions>
<execution>
<goals>
<goal>run</goal>
</goals>
<configuration>
<tasks>
<copy file="your/expectations.json" todir="${project.basedir}/target/test-classes/"/>
</tasks>
</configuration>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>
I do searched for similar topics. But mine issue is different.
The background is that I've got an single spring boot project, and it became bigger and bigger. Then I split it into serveral modules following the guide from spring Spring boot - Creating a Multi Module Project.
Let's say, now I've got 2 projects: Web and ServiceLayer. All my previous integration test are in Web now, and it looks like that from sonar I can only see the coverage of proejct-web.
I am using jacoco maven plugin and here is the maven pom:
<plugin>
<groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
<artifactId>maven-surefire-report-plugin</artifactId>
<version>2.19.1</version>
<configuration>
<showSuccess>false</showSuccess>
</configuration>
</plugin>
<!-- JaCoCo configuration -->
<plugin>
<groupId>org.jacoco</groupId>
<artifactId>jacoco-maven-plugin</artifactId>
<version>0.7.5.201505241946</version>
<executions>
<execution>
<id>default-prepare-agent</id>
<goals>
<goal>prepare-agent</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
<execution>
<id>default-report</id>
<phase>prepare-package</phase>
<goals>
<goal>report</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>
How to configure and make the coverage of submodules available on sonar?
Thanks!
You can add the destFile tag after your goals tag
Something like this
<plugin>
<groupId>org.jacoco</groupId>
<artifactId>jacoco-maven-plugin</artifactId>
<version>0.7.8</version>
<configuration>
<append>true</append>
</configuration>
<executions>
<execution>
<id>default-prepare-agent</id>
<goals>
<goal>prepare-agent</goal>
</goals>
<configuration>
<destFile>${project.basedir}/../target/jacoco.exec</destFile>
</configuration>
</execution>
<execution>
<id>default-report</id>
<phase>prepare-package</phase>
<goals>
<goal>report</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>
This will aggregrate all the results in each of the modules into a file.
