We do not have admin access to Oracle DB, our sales system provider runs it.
On our BI server if I login to windows as myself and I install the SQL Developer and use the report account to access the sales db I can see the Product Table and other tables.
If I login as ADMINISTRATOR on the BI server and use the report account to access the sales db I cannot see the Product Table but can see other tables.
If a colleague logs in on the BI Server and install the SQL developer and use the report account to access the sales db he cannot see the Product Table but can see other tables.
If we create a new user based of my windows user, logon to the BI Server and use the report account to access the sales db and install the SQL developer we cannot see the Product Table but can see other tables.
If I install ODET v2 and use the report account I can see the product table on an windows account that cannot view it in SQL Developer.
It has to be something to do with SQL Developer and windows accounts?
Any ideas.. help appreciated.
You need to tell your sales system provider what you are trying to do and request that they grant select privileges on the tables to the user or at least to a common role.
SQLDeveloper is operating as expected and will only show you what you have privileges to see.

I'm trying to copy data from Oracle database table to MS SQL database using Azure Data Factory pipeline.
I have installed oracle locally and using the SYSTEM user, I have created couple of tables in oracle as seen in the screenshot below:
After connecting this local oracle instance with Azure Data Factory via Self Hosted Runtime, I am unable to see the names of these tables in the dropdown of Table names list while creating a dataset for one of these tables. Below are the screenshots of what I am trying to achieve:
But when I search for these tables SPENDREPORT and SPENDREPORTDETAILS, they are not found in this dropdown, as shown in the screenshot below. Any clues as to how I can solve this?
As commented by Justin Cave and also as per Oracle official documentation You must not create any tables in the SYS schema.
•SYS
This account can perform all administrative functions. All base (underlying) tables and views for the database data dictionary are stored in the SYS schema. These base tables and views are critical for the operation of Oracle Database. To maintain the integrity of the data dictionary, tables in the SYS schema are manipulated only by the database. They should never be modified by any user or database administrator. You must not create any tables in the SYS schema.
The SYS user is granted the SYSDBA privilege, which enables a user to perform high-level administrative tasks such as backup and recovery.
• SYSTEM
This account can perform all administrative functions except the following:
• Backup and recovery
• Database upgrade
You should also try to clear Data factory cache and then refresh Table name field.
i tried to update table wwv_flow_item_list in Oracle autonomus database on cloud but i get error insuficient privileges. I cant even select data from those tables (all wwv prefix). User is ADMIN. which user have rights to perform these tasks ?
I have a subscription to Oracle Cloud Database Schema Services ( Schema not full Database ) , I am trying to access the database instance using Oracle SQL Developer , I followed the below to make connection in SQL developer :
1 - From "Database schema Service connection"
2 - New Cloud Connection and enter my username/password/instance URL
3- The database connected and I can list all tables inside the schema
But When I tried to open SQL worksheet and write some select statements , I can't achieve this.
I know that this task can be done through APEX console , but is there anyway to do it by using SQL Developer?
This is not currently supported.
The SCHEMA service is only reachable via HTTPS. We have built several REST Services that allow SQL Developer to do what you see currently today, which includes browsing the schema and uploading data via the CART.
We have just built a SQL 'REST Service' feature into Oracle REST Data Services which allow us..or any authenticated user, to run an ad-hoc SQL or PL/SQL block statement via a POST. This would allow us to add what you're looking for - the ability to do a SQL Worksheet for your service.
However, instead of building this into the SQL Developer desktop, we're looking at releasing 'SQL Developer Web' which will be available in your Oracle Cloud Database Services' consoles.
I can't tell you if/when that will be available for you in your Schema Service, but it's on the road map.
In the mean time, the APEX UI and its SQL Workshop is the way to go.
I just downloaded the Oracle Database 11g and I can't select, create, update or do anything. Every command that I entered and run only results to "ORA-01435: user does not exist"
What are the things that i need to do in order to enable creating and running some commands?
Here is a picture of ORA-01435: user does not exist
Please look at right upper corner SCHEMA:XS$NULL:
From Securing Oracle Database User Accounts
XS$NULL
An internal account that represents the absence of a user in a session. Because XS$NULL is not a user, this account can only be accessed by the Oracle Database instance. XS$NULL has no privileges and no one can authenticate as XS$NULL, nor can authentication credentials ever be assigned to XS$NULL.
Expired and locked
You need to change it to some specific schema.
I am having some issues connection to an oracle DB using MS Access.
If I use SQL Developer to connect to the Oracle DB I see pretty much every table and view in the DB however when I connect using MS Access I only get a selected few.
I tough it was because the user didn't have Select privileges on the tables I need so I requested the privilege and after a moth of waiting I finally got it but I still cant see the tables on the Access tool.
This is what I see on SQL Developer vs MS access. I need SFMFG.PWUI_CHAR_DEF_EXT to show on access table manager. Any help to solve this mystery is greatly appreciated.
Using Access 2010, if I select External Data ==> ODBC Database ==> Link to the datasource by creating a linked table, I get a windows dialogue of all the available datasources. When I log in to the one I want, I see the names of all the tables I am authorized to select from.
The Linked Table Manager only shows the tables for which there are existing links.
