What does this error about a missing system 32 file mean? - windows

Windows Script Host
Error: Cannot find script file
"C:\Windows\system32\Maintenance.vbs"
When I'm on my laptop, this error occurs every time I plug in the charger. What does it mean and how can I fix it?

I would run SFC /scannow in command prompt as an administrator.
This will verify that all key windows files are installed and working properly. .vbs scripts tent too be malicious however so if this doesn't find any problems with windows I would run and antivirus scan

How to bypass the Elevated prompt error during silent installation

I am trying to download and silently install Anaconda on user's computer by using a batch file. The command that is used in my batch files is according to the original documentation of Anaconda. However, every time I run this batch of code, it gives me an error that says:
Installation for all users requires an elevated prompt.
This however only happens when I set the installation type to AllUsers. If I set the installation type to JustMe, it will be able to download and install Anaconda.
curl "https://repo.continuum.io/archive/Anaconda2-4.3.0.1-Windows-x86.exe" -o "prerequisites\\Anaconda2-4.3.0.1-Windows-x86.exe"
%cd%\prerequisites\Anaconda2-4.3.0.1-Windows-x86.exe /InstallationType=AllUsers /RegisterPython=1 /S /D=C:\Anaconda
Unfortunately, I need to find a way to set the installation type to AllUsers. I had also tried running the batch file using administrator mode but to no avail. Can anyone tell me what I am missing out? I've been on this for days and still could not find the correct solution to this.

Problems Getting Battery Stats from Command line

I am having Problems Getting Battery Stats from Command line. So the command that I have been running in PowerShell(yes as Admin) is powercfg -energy and the error generated is
The Power Efficiency Diagnostic library (energy.dll) could not be loaded
So then I was told that I should make sure the file was correct version with sfc /scannow and generates the error
Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service
So then I check Windows Modules Installer service with service.msc and it is set to Manual
Any Insight is appreciated, Thanks
The problem was that i was running it in powershell. It works fine if I run it in command prompt. Thanks for the help

Windows deletes make executable file upon running. Why?

I am trying to get some code running which uses make. I've downloaded and installed both MinGW (standard 32 bit) and TDM-GCCs flavor of MinGW on my 64-bit Windows 7 machine.
When I run make (i.e. mingw32-make.exe) in Administrator mode, I get the following error message:
Windows cannot access the specified path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
The weird/scary part is that, upon running, it immediately deletes the exe file.
I ran a checksum SHA1 as recommended in the comments using the Microsoft (R) File Checksum Integrity Verifier V2.05:
C:\path\to\folder>fciv.exe -sha1 mingw32-make.exe
//
// File Checksum Integrity Verifier version 2.05.
//
c8ae5c780ab7bed652883d6443b5bfe5e23d30c9 mingw32-make.exe
I don't understand what this output means, but maybe it's helpful to someone.
Notes:
This happens regardless of where the file is located on my pc.
This behavior is specific to the make program (others such as gfortran and gcc appear to be working fine)
Renaming the file makes no difference.
I am an administrator on the pc
Same behavior when I run the program from the explorer or command line.
My anti-virus program (Avast) does not detect any problems with the file when I scan it.
I got the MinGW setup file from this SourceForge page.
I got the TDM-GCC web installer from this page.
The file size is 219,662 bytes (from both the main MinGW and TDM-GCC packages)
I have run make from the command line where I have started the command prompt by way of selecting Run as Administrator in the context menu.
I have also tried to run make by selecting Run as Administrator when I have it selected.
I run the command mingw32-make when this behavior occurs. I have also tried renaming it to things like make and foo with the same result.
The first time this happened with both MinGW it deleted the original file and I re-installed it using the mingw-get application. From thereon after I started making copies of the original mingw32-make for testing.
For the make executable, I have all permissions (including Read & execute) except the special permissions field.
After using the process manager I found out it was indeed Avast that was the problem :S A couple of lines revealed avast actually deleted the file before windows got around to executing it, which was the reason for the windows message. I put Avast on 'Silent Mode' a while back; I thought the only purpose of this mode was to suppress notifications about minor updates, but apparently it also gave Avast permission to deal with 'threats' silently as well.
After figuring that out the solution was straightforward. I just went into the settings and created an exception for the mingw32-make.exe file. It now runs without issue.
Thanks very much for your help everyone!
User account has administrator privilege but when user started to work , not all privilege are taken in account , just start your application for compiling with run with administrator mode try this : https://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/library/cc781763(v=ws.10).aspx

exe command not recognised in win32 folder

I have placed a mycmd.exe file in system32 folder under windows directory.
Strange thing is that this is accessible from command prompt but when i access this file as a shell command from my VB6 application it shows is "not recognized as an internal or external command"
I am running VB project as run as administrator and using win8 64bit.
Thanks for the anticipated help!!
The WOW64 filesystem redirector is probably taking your program's path and changing it.
See: File System Redirector
Can you show the exact code you're using to run the EXE? The error you're getting makes it clear that VB isn't finding the file. Have you tried appending the path to the specific file you're trying to execute?

RCU.bat file not opening on virtual machine

I have installed a Windows 2008 Server on my VM. I am trying to run a .bat file (on my VM). This .bat file is stored on my local Windows 7 PC, and I'm using shared folders to access it.
The .bat file does not work on my virtual machine. There is no error shown. The command prompt window pops up and then goes away..
However this file works fine on my PC. What could be the reason for the file to run on one system and not run on the other?
How can I run this .bat using the command prompt of my virtual machine? To check if any error log shows up? What could be done? Please advise.
Thanks,
Are you double-clicking on the .bat file through windows explorer? Open the command prompt, then cd to where you have the file and just run it.
cmd cannot use UNC paths as the current path. I'm guessing your shared folders use a network share in the guest machine. Map that share to a drive letter and try again.
