Does anyone know how to move a windows program live? - windows

So this is kind of a weird question, but I am currently getting into game developing, and I came across a game that came out a lot like what I want mine to look like, the only problem is... I don't really know where to find that sort of thing, is there any way to actively move a windows program as you're playing the game? so it's basically another level of difficulty. Any ideas? looking for something in javascript or c#, that's what I am writing in.

Windows10 - multi monitors rearranging on their own (set monitor arrangement to "const"?)

i have observed a strange behaviour in windows10 during an active application:
While my application is running, it continuously displays a certain pattern (similar to a screensaver).
Now some weird behaviour occurs sometimes:
It should show the pattern on monitor2, but sometimes, after a while, the monitors are switching and the pattern is shown on monitor1 (and stay there). This happens kinda randomly and i don't really know the underlying cause of this.
This is why i would like to know if there is some kind of method to make the monitor arrangement "const" for windows, such that the monitors do always have the same indexing, and can only changed by admin rights.
I googled a little bit about this problem and found "PersistentWindows" on github.
Is this actually legit, or does someone else know a better way to get this done?
Note: I know this is not exactly coding related, i hope the question is not too much off-topic.
Thanks already in advance! :)

Resize a Window (On Windows OS) while Rendering

All I want is to make a simple application that you can resize while rendering.
(IE resize while never once seeing the buffer out the edge of the screen)
Most commercial, professional, and major open source programs seem to be capable of this, while most all personal or hobbyist programs never seem to be capable of this. (I have no idea why)
I want to make a professional looking program like that.
A few examples of what I'm talking about:
https://gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/127691/how-to-stop-sdl-from-freezing-the-rendering-while-resizing-the-window
https://www.gamedev.net/forums/topic/488074-win32-message-pump-and-opengl---rendering-pauses-while-draggingresizing/
https://en.sfml-dev.org/forums/index.php?topic=19388.5
What I have used in the past for windowing are:
SDL (Currently)
SFML
GLFW +OpenGL
And this problem applies to all 3 from what I can recall.
I would like to know the following:
If this is a problem that is solvable, please tell me why or why not
I've never once looked that low-level (OS APIs nor Graphics back-ends) so I just want to know why.
What's the way to solve this? Is it within my means?
Is the solution -really- a perfect solution? I've seen many people suggest solutions that have various problems
(IE minimizing the buffer but not getting rid of it entirely OR you got rid of it but there's a ton of flickering (I forgot why but it doesn't matter))
My current understanding is that this a Win32 API/Windows API related bug related to blocking.
I don't have any deeper understanding or knowledge on how to create my own solution easily, but if I must learn then I will.

CLIPS decision maker frame work

I am just getting started with CLIPS and I have found a couple tutorials but I can't find many example projects. I am just trying to create a simple system to help someone pick a laptop. nothing crazy just 15 or so questions with 10 possible outcomes.
Can anyone point me towards an example project that does something similar? (maybe diagnosing some problem or recommending something else) I typically learn best from hacking together my own starter projects from examples on the internet but can't find anything similar to what I want to create
Thanks in advance
You could modify the wine recommendation example to do something similar with laptops: https://sourceforge.net/p/clipsrules/code/HEAD/tree/branches/63x/examples/wine.clp
There are also GUI wrappers for the wine examples (and others) for .NET, Java, iOS, and CGI available here: http://www.clipsrules.net/?q=node/3

Interact with GUI Elements of a Windows Application

First of all, I want to appreciate the work for the SCIDvsPC Project. I know that the basic SCID one has been discontinued many years back and the developer have done a great job with expanding it and doing his share for the Chess Field. We have a Minor Project to do in this 6th semester of our college. We've decided to start a project on a Chess Next Move Analyzer that is based on variety of filters and implements Self Learning and Machine Learning.
I've been researching over the project idea for the last 2 months. Actually we need to import several games defined on some filters and read and analyze from the PGN file generated. For example, if the user chooses to get the next best move predicted according to the rating range of 2000-2500, our program should only export and analyze the PGN files that have both the opponents from this range only. I know the project can do all this but I'm confused over how to automate this. I mean I have to manually enter the moves and then click on 'Generate PGN' but how to make my program do this ie take input from the user (like first 3 moves), make the project run these moves (what I had to manually) and then generate the PGN file and keep it in a folder.
I've surfed the net about interacting with GUI elements in Windows (we have no problem in working with Linux either) and came to know about Microsoft UI Automation, Python, Java and C# softwares and something like COM. Do the software support COM or any one of these or have you already developed some functionality like this? Please can you guide me over this?
If asked to Generalize this what I want to do is to interact with GUI Elements, be it any application. Take Notepad as an example. Suppose I want to open a file on it, find and replace a particular word. Now, I know how to do this manually but when I have over thousands of file I need some kind of program to do this for me. Do some specific programs like SCID in my case has some feature (read bit about COM) pre-built to handle this? In which programming language domain does this come into? Is using Linux help me more?

Your situation sounds to be quite specific so I doubt whether you will be able to find a pre-existing program to do this for you. Meaning: you'll have to code it yourself.
In which programming language domain does this come into?
Well, this could probably be done in many, many different programming languages. A simple shell script would be able to achieve the Notepad example you gave.
Is using Linux help me more?
No, your goals seem to be pretty achievable by a simple shell script, whether you write it in a Windows, macOS or a Linux distro.
#SB87 gave you some useful hints, I'd like to expand his answers.
Sorry, I don't think you know what you're talking about. Reinforcement learning (better term than self-learning) and machine learning are not something suitable for a college project. It's at the PhD or research level, consider getting yourself into university before even thinking about anything like that.
UI automation is possible, but error prone and slow. If you want to do it, you'd write a console program. You mentioned something about user inputs, do you mean you want to apply machine learning on user mouse-keyboard inputs? It's not going to work. Machine learning for chess requires hundreds and thousands of training set.
I think you should downplay the project and focus on something you can achieve.

Project in Ruby

I've been coding alot of web-stuff all my life, rails lately. And i can always find a website to code, but i'm kind of bored with it. Been taking alot of courses of Java and C lately so i've become a bit interested in desktop application programming.
Problem: I can't for the life of me think of a thing to code for desktop. I just can't think of anything i can code that isn't already out there for download. So what do i do?
I need some project suggestions that i can set as a goal.
I would say you should roam through github or some other open source site and find an existing young or old project that you can contribute to. Maybe there is something that is barely off the ground, or maybe there is a mature project that could use some improvement.
I find to complete a project, it needs to be something I am passionate about. I feel you need to find your own project I'm afraid.
There is always the Netflix Prize though!
I would write a ray tracer.
Oops, sorry... you're looking for an original idea. :) Ray tracers are still cool, though, and easy to get started on. Maybe you'll get an idea for a game while you're working on it.
Visit shoooes.net for a UI toolkit that's easy and fun, and then the-shoebox.org to see the kinds of things people are doing with it.
If you could make a Ruby ANSI (and xbin, and idf, and adf...) Editor, I would love you. Because that means you would have written ANSI parsing routines that I can hope you release to the open source community.
... but that is a selfish answer. Oh, and a cross-platform editor would be nice as well (although TundraDraw somewhat takes care of that).
