Hibernate configuration property not supported by Quarkus application.properties - quarkus

I am using Quarkus 2.9.2.Final and would like to set a Hibernate config parameter, which is not one of the "chosen ones" which can go into Quarkus' application.properties as per the documentation.
Specifically I would like to set this Hibernate configuration property:
<property name="hibernate.hql.bulk_id_strategy"
value="org.hibernate.hql.spi.id.inline.InlineIdsInClauseBulkIdStrategy"
/>
to prevent Hibernate from generating temporary tables (as described here).
How can I achieve this?

Have you tried the quarkus.hibernate-orm.unsupported-properties (ref) config?

Disable Envers in properties file

I have already referred to this question: Spring Boot 2 - disable Envers, but the answer did not work for me.
I am using Spring Boot and would like to disable Envers in the properties file without having to go into my code and remove any #Audited annotations or such.
I have tried the following to no avail:
hibernate.integration.envers.enable=false
spring.jpa.properties.hibernate.integration.envers.enable=false
spring.jpa.properties.org.hibernate.integration.envers.enable=false
hibernate.integration.envers.enabled=false
spring.jpa.properties.hibernate.integration.envers.enabled=false
spring.jpa.properties.org.hibernate.integration.envers.enabled=false
hibernate.envers.autoRegisterListeners=false
spring.jpa.properties.org.hibernate.envers.autoRegisterListeners=false
I cannot speak specifically to the integration with Spring Boot, but you should be able to force it to be disabled by supplying a custom hibernate.properties file shown below:
# this disables hibernate envers, even if its on the classpath
hibernate.integration.envers.enabled=false

Using Expressions in Spring application.properties file

Can expressions be used as a right-hand-side value in a Spring application.properties file?
For example, something like this:
logging.level.com.acme=#{'${MY_RUN_ENV}'=='PROD'?'WARN':'DEBUG'}
That, specifically, does not work. But, I'm wondering if I can do something similar to what's intended there
No you can not use SpEL within properties files.
Finally, while you can write a SpEL expression in #Value, such
expressions are not processed from Application property files.
You can however use placeholders within properties files, eg:
app.name=MyApp
app.description=${app.name} is a Spring Boot application
For your use case, you should look at the profile-specific configuration mechanism.
Which allows you to load different config based on an environment profile.
No this is not possible, From spring boot reference:
Feature #ConfigurationProperties
SpEL evaluation No
Instead you can have an application-default.properties in production and in it define loglevel=WARN.
And in your application.properties:
loglevel=DEBUG
logging.level.com.acme=${loglevel}
The profile-specific properties file(-default by default) should override the properties from application.properties, more info here.
Use profile based properties file.
In application-dev.properties :
logging.level.com.acme=WARN
and in application-prod.properties :
logging.level.com.acme=DEBUG
FYI when spring boot doesn't find a propertie in a profile based file it use the value in the default one . So you can set properties in application.properties and override them in a profile based file when their value changed.

Variables in property files in spring boot

Can I use a propertie inside a application.properties?
sample:
myLevel=ERROR
logging.level.org.springframework=$myLevel
logging.level.org.apache.catalina=$myLevel
tks
You might use property placeholders:
The values in application.properties are filtered through the existing Environment when they are used so you can refer back to previously defined values (e.g. from System properties).
For your case:
myLevel=ERROR
logging.level.org.springframework=${myLevel}
logging.level.org.apache.catalina=${myLevel}

Spring Boot, Hibernate Search properties

How to provide Hibernate Search parameters when using Spring Boot?
...
spring.datasource.driverClassName=org.postgresql.Driver
hibernate.search.jmx_enabled=true
hibernate.search.default.directory_provider=filesystem
hibernate.search.generate_statistics=true
hibernate.search.lucene_version=LUCENE_CURRENT
hibernate.search.default.indexBase=/mypath-to-index
It does not care what I provide. Default settings always get applied.
I think below code does not have anything to process properties related to Hibernate Search. Can that be the issue?
https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-boot/blob/master/spring-boot-autoconfigure/src/main/java/org/springframework/boot/autoconfigure/orm/jpa/JpaProperties.java
You can put them in the application.properties file if you put "spring.jpa.properties." in front of the property names.
Example:
spring.jpa.properties.hibernate.search.jmx_enabled=true
spring.jpa.properties.hibernate.search.default.directory_provider=filesystem
spring.jpa.properties.hibernate.search.generate_statistics=true
spring.jpa.properties.hibernate.search.lucene_version=LUCENE_CURRENT
spring.jpa.properties.hibernate.search.default.indexBase=/mypath-to-index
Spring will take any properties under spring.jpa.properties.* and pass them along (with the prefix stripped) once the EntityManagerFactory is created.
Got it working.
Put another property file named "hibernate.properties" inside src/main/resources with below content.
hibernate.search.jmx_enabled=true
hibernate.search.default.directory_provider=filesystem
hibernate.search.generate_statistics=true
hibernate.search.lucene_version=LUCENE_CURRENT
hibernate.search.default.indexBase=/mypath-to-index

Spring customised PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer

I have config xml based spring application for which I have moved proprties required at start up time in database. It was very difficult to manage hundreds in property file and that is why database is introduced. To read properties a spring restful service is developed to return a map of all properties required at start up time.
I want to know how to replace properties reading from a map to spring context file e.g. ${config.service.url} should be polulated from a map read via web service.
One option I considered is to upgrade to Annotation based and start using MapPropertySource and Environment interface as environment.getRequiredProperty("config.service.url"). However upgrading to Annotation based is a big impact on project and is no at this time.
Second option that I am looking forward is to have a customised PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer.
Any pointer/help on this will be great.
Cheers,
Amber
You could define a PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer, but instead of specifying a file location, you can pass the properties directly as returned by your restful service.
<bean class="org.springframework.beans.factory.config.PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer">
<property name="properties" .../>
</bean>
