Each version has so different information that it is difficult to use.
I am using Spring Boot EhCache version 3.10.
Without a special Java configuration file, only the expiration time is entered in the xml file and then used.
Cache synchronization is required. So I found TerraCotta, but I can't quite figure out how to use it.
I checked the guide, but didn't understand which of these to use where and how.
I have received the TerraCotta server file, and I have run it, but please tell me how to configure SpringBoot to synchronize it.

I have 2/3 Java/spring-boot application running in a system. I want to use common storage so that other java application can also use cache generated by any other Java/spring-boot application.

So, as far as I read, it looks like if we need to run in a server, it should be in Terracotta server & terracotta server helps in distribution
But, I rather want to centralize the cache, so other application can use common cache
So, I think I need to do without terracotta

This is easily achieved using Hazelcast IMDG. Hazelcast IMDG can be run as seperate cluster or embedded with spring applications. To use hazelcast with Spring all you have to is to add the Spring-data-hazelcast dependency.

I have been using the Spring Framework for about 4 years now, and now Spring Boot for the last couple of months. My Spring MVC applications are usually deployed on a Java EE container such as JBoss/WildFly or WebLogic. Doing so allows me to use JNDI for things like datasources or any other sensitive data that involve secrets/passwords. That makes my app "consume" that JNDI resource based on its name.
Now with Spring Boot and especially for self-contained microservices (embedded tomcat), that information is now stored within the application (application.properties and/or in Spring Java Config classes), so versioned in Git.
That makes that information a lot more exposed to other developers, which I'm not very comfortable with. I also don't like having those details show up in SonarQube and Jenkins (through workspaces).
Question is: Are there any best practices for this specific requirement?

I see some articles here and there about the use of Jasypt, but I wonder if it's still a valid library to use since the last stable release is dated from 2014.

You could consider using a vault. Spring supports a few of them out of the box. You can find more information here http://projects.spring.io/spring-vault/.
If you have spring cloud in your stack, then it's very easy. Use encrypt the value and put it in the application properties. Follow the instruction mentioned here.
Other way is, set the values as environmental variables and using the environmental variables in the application properties. Instructions here

As far as the Spring Boot documentation tells, the requirements are to package your G-WAN application as a jar (zip) file, and install and configure Spring plugins to connect the dots.
One of them, Gradle, takes 50.5 MB to let you use several programming languages: "Gradle makes the impossible possible, the possible easy and the easy elegant."
G-WAN delivers even more language mix in 200 KB of code. G-WAN works without configuration files, nor it needs any war archives to be built, and deployed each time you edit the code of a Java G-WAN script. G-WAN's philosophy is real-time "edit & play".
With some adjustments, it will be possible to use G-WAN with in a Spring Boot application, but thats' like trying to attach a lorry trailer to a formula one: are the expected gains worth the exercise?
If you see advantages at adding this much code, configuration and maintenance overhead to G-WAN, could you please try to enumerate them?

I am looking at externalizing certain configuration parameters for ehcache in our Grails application and I am running into something not working that the documentation claims ought to.
Likely there is something I am missing.
I am using the grails ehcache plugin version 1.0.1 with Grails 2.4.0 and grails cache plugin 1.1.7. I am using hibernate plugin 3.6.10.16.
Here's what I have in my CacheConfig.groovy configuration...

I have a myApplication-config.groovy file living in an accessible area that I point to when assigning a value to grails.config.locations in Config.groovy. But I am not sure it is making any effort to really interpolate that value at all.
I tried double quotes but they were a bad idea as well -- at the time of interpreting CacheConfig.groovy it doesn't see the configuration I put into myApplication-config.groovy. I do know it reads that file in successfully at some point because I successfully use it to drive some Quartz job logic, so the placement of that config file is probably not the issue.
The answer is that I need to set SYSTEM PROPERTIES for ehcache to find. Using Grails configuration files such as myApplication-config.groovy is completely incorrect.
The CacheConfig.groovy file is correct, as is the XML it generates. So the question becomes, how do the properties it looks for get set correctly in the first place?
I am deploying to Tomcat. For Tomcat, setting system properties makes the most sense in a setenv.bat file (or setenv.sh on *nix).
I created setenv.bat, put the following into it
set CATALINA_OPTS=%CATALINA_OPTS% -DehcacheMulticastGroupAddress=230.0.0.1 -DehcacheMulticastGroupPort=4446 -DehcachePeerListenerPort=40001
...And it worked. Ehcache was able to find the system properties and start everything appropriately.
tl;dr: system properties != grails application config
I am using Netbeans as my IDE, currently developing an Web app using:
Spring 3
Hibernate 3
MySQL
I'm relying on netbeans to build the project(in contrast to others using maven). On deployment, the console shows this error:
...noClassDefFoundError: com/mchange/v2/c3p0/DataSources
I've already added the jar file to the Hibernate library.
(And oh, this is my first time asking here. Needed 10 points to post the screenshot.)
So I'm confused why would it need THAT class. (whatever that class does.)
Ideas why did this happen?
I've finally manage to solve the problem. The c3p0 distribution has 3 .jar files on the lib directory. I initially added the "c3p0*.jar" only. Which in turn produces the error.
It needs the OTHER jar file, mchange-commons*.jar in the directory. Hope this helps to others stuck in here.
Download this jar mchange-commons-java-0.2.3.4.jar. This helps me to resolve the issue.

Add this jar file "c3p0-0.9.2.1.jar" to library
If you are still getting the error, you need to remove and add again Hibernate library because this "c3p0-0.9.2.1.jar" is conflict version with c3p0 in Hibernate library
