I have started to use MVC recently.
I would like to have two nested drop-down lists that would get their information from a file (csv file for example.
The first drop-down list would be for provinces.
The 2nd drop-down list would be for some cities in the selected province above. so the values in the second drop-down list will change based on the first selection.
and the code will then extract some information for that specific city.
So each row in my data table looks like this:
|province|city|some information for that city
my first question is: what would be the best way to incorporate that data. Do you recommend CSV? should use some sort of dictionary file?
2nd question is how to populate from that data file? Should I introduce a dictionary variable and populate it from the data file and then use it for the drop-down list?
Apologies if this is too basic.

I want to save a specific value that is on a specific row and column. How I can do this? I already search, but I didn't find anything
One doesn't save a value from the grid but rather from the underlying dataset. The following is for Delphi, but I understand that Lazarus is near enough the same. Let's say that the grid is displaying data from a query qTest that has fields id, surname, forename, date of birth (DOB). In Delphi, one can automatically have variables created with names qTestID, qTestSurname, etc. Another way of referring to the variables is by use of the 'fieldbyname' syntax - qTest.fieldbyname ('surname').asstring.
Write a dblClick handler for the grid: when one gets to the row that holds the required data, perform a double click. In the handler, the fields of the row will now be available as qTestID.asinteger, qTestSurname.asstring, etc.
I have a workbook where I have displayed a table where the user can view the top 3 IDs based on a column they can select from a dropdown (Measure A, Measure B, ... , Measure H):
Now, instead of this, I want to add a separate column called Sorting Criterion to the table that would store the column names with which the respective rows of the table was sorted. So, the expected output is something like this:
How do I do this? I'm open to using Tableau Prep Builder, if needed, for intermediate steps that may be too convoluted for Tableau Desktop.
Create a calculated field that just contains the Sort By parameter. Add this calculated field to your view.
Good afternoon!
I have created a report with the wizard to create a matrix that is grouped and has drill down rows. I have added filters to the rows and columns and it works great! I then copied that matrix and modified the filters, so I had two matrixes.
But what I really wanted was those two rows in the same matrix, just in different row groups. So I added another group, using the adjacent below option, and then added all the child groupings. However, when I run the report it shows the values for the first row of the drill down data.
When I look at the groupings I can see the one I did manually has a 'Static' field in each row grouping but the ones that the wizard did (with the red ?), they don't have that "extra" row:
What do I need to change or how do I need to add my groups so that I don't get that "static" row and not show the data? I have the visibility set to 'Hidden' and the toggle set up for the prior grouping set data.
Assuming a few things....
the data comes from a single dataset
You are differentiating between Property and Violent crimes by filtering on a column, I'll call it IncidentGroup for the sake of illustration..
I've understood your question ! :)
Get to the point where you had just a single tablix filtered to show 'Property crime'.
Now remove or edit that filter so it shows all the data you need in the report.
Finally, right click on your Matrix1_IncidentCategory row and add a parent group, choose IncidentGroup (or whatever the column is actually called) and check the box to add a group header.
That should be it, there is no need for a second tablix.
Without knowing how you are filtering currently it's hard to give a complete answer but this should get you close, if not all the way there.
If this doesn't work for whatever reason, please post sample data from your dataset output and your current filters.
How to read an excel sheet and put the cell value within different text fields through UiPath?
I have a excel sheet as follows:
I have read the excel contents and to iterate over the contents later I have stored the contents in a Output Data Table as follows:
Read Range - Output:
DataTable: CVdatatable
Output Data Table
DataTable: CVdatatable
Text: opCVdatatable
Screenshot:
Finally, I want to read the text opCVdatatable in a iteration and write them into text fields. So in the desired Input fileds I mentioned opCVdatatable or opCVdatatable+ "[k(enter)]" as required.
Screenshot:
But UiPath seems to start from the begining of the Output Data Table whenever I called for opCVdatatable.
Inshort, each desired Input fileds are iteratively getting filled up by all the data with the data stored in the Output Data Table.
Can someone help me out please?
My first recommendation is to use Workbook: Read range activity to read data from Excel because it is quicker, works in the background, and does not require excel to be installed on the system.
Start your sequence like this (note the add headers property is not checked):
You do not need to use Output Data Table because this activity outputs a string containing all row items. What you want to do instead is to access the items in the data table and output each one as a string in your type into, e.g., CVDatatable.Rows(0).Item(0).ToString, like so:
You mention you want to read the text opCVdatatable in an iteration and write them into text fields. This is a little bit more complex, but i'll give you an example. You can use a For Each Row activity and loop through each row in CVDatatable, setting the index property if required. See below:
The challenge is to get the selector correct here and make it dynamic, so that it targets a different text field per iteration. The selector for the type into activity will depend on the system you are targeting, but here is an example:
And the selector for this:
Also, here is a working XAML file for you to test.
Hope this helps.
Chris
Here's a different, more general approach. Instead of including the target in the process itself, the Excel would be modified to include parts of a selector:
Note that column B now contains an identifier, and this ID depends on the application you will be working with. For example, here's my sample app looks like. As you can see, the first text box has an id of 585, the second one is 586, and so on (note that you can work with any kind of identifier including the control's name if exposed to UiPath):
Now, instead of adding multiple Type Into elements to your workflow, you would add just a single one, loop over each of the datatable's row, and then create a dynamic selector:
In my case the selector for the Type Into activity looks as follows:
"<wnd cls='#32770' title='General' /><wnd ctrlid='" + row(1).ToString() + "' />"
This will allow you to maintain the process from the Excel sheet alone - if there's a new field that needs to be mapped, just add it to your sheet. No changes to the Workflow are required.
Is it possible to have data in a Handsontable sorted by a field which is not displayed? I have a grid of data which I would like to display that contains a column called "sortOrder", but I don't want to display this.
The sorting needs to be done client side because events are coming in over web sockets and need to be reflected in the table.
If you're not showing the column then I assume you're not expecting the user to be able to manually sort by this hidden column. Therefore, why don't you simply sort your data array with native JS? At any point during execution you could have a function which sorts by this hidden column and then just don't render this in your Handson definition.
So yes, the answer is it is possible. The not showing of a column is as simple as defining the columns option and not including a column for this hidden value.
