i made a gui recently where the goal was to view the results of some actions there , so mostly it was like a simulation game that has no connection with any hardware , i proposed this for my school that uses moodle and i want to know if there is a way to integrate it there , the gui i used has controlP5 library and videos and gif libraries as well, i would appreciate the help
from my researches so far i found that we can integrate processing code with html after some modifications , but didn't find anything for moodle yet
My understanding is that Processing in java mode, using controlP5, etc. will work on a client machine, not on a server (like moodle) (not easily at least).
Regarding embedding a processing sketch a web page:
java applet support is deprecated (can no longer embed a .jar applet)
processing.js is deprecated (and controlP5 wouldn't be compatible anyway)
you can however port your code to p5.js
I don't know enough moodle, but perhaps you can embed a JS snippet/iframe/etc on a moodle page.
Regarding controlP5, in p5.js, you can look at p5.dom.js functionalities such as createSlider(), createButton(), etc. or use libraries like p5.gui or p5.touchgui.

I've been looking for information and I can't find anything useful. I tried to search information in the Julia official web page, but it seems to be down. I wonder if any of you guys knows where I can find information about it.

If you are developing your code within an [Jupyter/IJulia] notebook, and need very simple interaction, such as a slider to change some input values, the Interact package is the easiest thing to get started with.
To develop full-fledged web UIs, take a look at Escher. Inspired by the Elm, it provides a functional library of UI components. Interactive web UIs are created in 100% Julia. There is no differentiation in code between the client and server sides. The framework handles all of that.
Another web framework worth looking at is Genie, which is based on the traditional MVC design pattern. It also includes an ORM.
Stipple is a reactive UI library for building interactive data applications in pure Julia. It uses Genie.jl (on the server-side) and Vue.js (on the client).
Dash ties modern UI elements like dropdowns, sliders, and graphs directly to your analytical Julia code.
All the above solutions are for creating web user interfaces, accessed via a browser. If you want to create cross-platform desktop apps, but want to work with web technologies (i.e. HTML/CSS/Javascript), use Blink. This is a Julia wrapper around the Electron. You could potentially write a Dash or Stipple application, and wrap it in Blink.jl to create a desktop app.
To create desktop UI applications using the Gtk library, use the Gtk.jl package in Julia. If you are familiar with the Gtk API, it is easy to get started. Note however that there are some significant known issues running GTK.jl on Windows.
If your UI framework of choice is QT, a Julia binding is available via QML.jl
If you are happy painting the buffer yourself and just want a window to render the pixels on the screen, then there is nothing simpler than MiniFB. Note however that this does not give you a widget library -- you are responsible for drawing each and every pixel yourself.
ClmGui.jl is a Julia wrapper around the immediate mode GUI toolkit known as Dear ImGui
And last, but not the least, the venerable Tk framework has a wrapper in Julia. The UI's created using TK are sometimes considered ugly compared with modern aesthetics, but sometimes this is the quickest way to get a window up.

The QML.jl package enables using the QML markup language from the Qt library to build graphical user interfaces for Julia programs. The package follows the recommended Qt practices and promotes separation between the GUI code and application logic. All user-facing code is pure Julia and QML, no C++ knowledge is required to use the package.
There is a new package called Genie. It is a web framework comparable with Django in python. You can create web ui using Genie. Until now (Aug. 2017), the package is functional with some nice demos, the documentation is not quite complete though.
We currently have a shared DirectX code base that renders our UI and is used in our PC side application and via an ActiveX in web pages.
I have written some WebGL demos and they perform great, no plugin mess and get rid of ancient ActiveX!
This obviously raises the problem of having a split code base for the PC application and the Web UI.
As WebGL is based on the OpenGL ES 2.0 specification would it be possible to have a standard code base and write a interpreter so that either:
-The WebGL code can be modified to compile as OpenGL
-OpenGL can be modified to work in a web page
The khronos specifications are new to me, so this is sort of speculative as I am peforming research at the moment.
Does anyone with more knowledge of 3D graphics and a better understanding of the coding syntax help me out?
One way is to have a PC app to enclose a WebGL-capable browser inside (together with a simple http server) to run the same rendering technique as the web App.
This will reduce the maintenance and development costs for both platforms.
I don't get it. I'm a C/C++ programmer, what's the possible use of V8 for me? There are few examples and tutorials out there, and they all lack substance - I don't want to use another library to just add a couple of numbers or print something in a console window.
My question is: is there a real use for this technology, and if yes, then would be the scenario?
Also, can I do any part of GUI this way?

So the whole point is ability to write code in JavaScript, and run it quite fast (for an interpreted dynamic language). Google Chrome, which is written in C++, uses it for internal scripting — not only for regular web page scripting, but also for extension code. Let's consider this as a 'real use'.
So, if your app needs scripting, V8 may be good for you (JS is not a perfect language, but stil quite decent). As for GUI, you'll need to bind your GUI components with JS first, there's no built-in UI components (as Tk in TCL).
One real use of v8 is node.js. I hope that is good enough

V8 is a JavaScript engine. The most common use for it is to allow users of your software to write scripts in simpler language than that your software was written with (C++ in your case).
It´s the same approach of Matlab, AutoCad, Microsoft Office, and etc.
If you write any kind of commercial application, you can expose some APIs and allow other developer to create addons for your applications without require them to know C/C++.
How about this for real use: You can use javascript as a debugging or testing tool - add a javascript console to your app and bind the commands of your GUI application to javascript functions, and you'll be able to test your UI application using javascript scripts. This way you'll reduce the amount of manual testing needed - manual testing would only have to verify that a correct command was excutes as a result of user action.
You can do GUI in javascript the same way that Qt is being used in Python and other scripting languages (see PyQt, and QtRuby, PerlQt, etc.). For how to create bindings for V8 you may want to check out this
I have been dealing with GTK & QT on linux, Windows forms on windows and some others like Tk, Wx. But I can see a lot of GUIs that don't look like traditional applications like unity 3d, some Adobe applications, 3ds max etc..
Are they using special libraries ? or there is a way for advanced theming of the above libraries ? Or are they just creating their own libraries ? How do they create them ?
Well usually they make their own libraries
Some applications ( exp : Blender ( that has a really good GUI )) use there own libraries .
Blender implements its whole GUI using OpenGL so Unity , 3DsMax should be similar

A lot of the libraries that are independent will do a lot from scratch. Eg. use Cairo directly in building their engine so that they can do display and capture input from the users as well. A lot of the widgets they have for the GUI are done from basic bottom up principles. The new non-server standalone apps can use frameworks like Electron (which desktop apps like Skype now use) rely on HTML/CSS/Javascript so that the primitive widgets are the standard browser elements of a webpage navigation in an application form.
I believe Unity uses Dear ImGui for the their UI, especially with the new UI documents system, it's quite impressive how much stuff you can do with it, you can look for some tutorials about it and if you have heard of Hazel engine (from The Cherno channel in You Tube) it uses ImGui to render all the UI, so try going it a look, it might suit you.

What GUI toolkit does Valve use for Steam? Is it Qt? I am interested in using the same toolkit for a project.
According to Valve itself:
"VGUI is Valve's proprietary Graphical User Interface. All Source and Steam applications use VGUI to draw windows, dialogs and menus. It also handles localization: the displaying of text in the user's preferred language. "
That's interesting, maybe if you guys do some research you can have it working in your programming language. I'll download the SDK to see if I can make it work with Java :)

Having had experience with the Source engine I know that Valve have an library called VGUI which they use for all their games and many of their tools (when in game the library sits on top of the Source renderer, when in tools it sits on top of the Windows API I believe). Although I can’t answer the question with 100% certainty I suspect that this is what they use for Steam as well (I seem to recall some Steam updates that mentioned VGUI) – I would be surprised if the new beta uses a different library.
Even if it is not using VGUI, given what I know of Valve I would think they will have written something else entirely in-house.
So, it is (almost certainly) proprietary and highly unlikely to ever be available for third party use (unless you have the funds to buy a Source engine license).
Steam only runs on Windows and predates QT for Windows, so I'd have to guess something else.
Since Steam has had the same GUI since 2003, chances are it uses some variant of MFC. It also uses an embedded Internet Explorer web browser for its Store and Community sections.
However, I can't give any guarantees about what the version currently in Beta uses. It looks quite a bit different and includs the Webkit rendering engine instead of using IE. It may use Webkit for everything rather than drawing their own GUIs.
