I want to know how to implement bonjour on windows, so that i can set up server on windows and access files in windows(server) using bonjour service from my iphone(client).
Can anyone tell me whether we have any java api for windows or any bonjour sdk for windows?
Thanks in advance..
Have a look at Apple's bonjour SDK page. They provide an SDK for Windows there. I think it's written in C.
This page describes how to develop for Bonjour for Windows. It also gives a link to the download page for the Windows API, including headers and libraries for C and Java.
http://support.apple.com/downloads/Bonjour_for_Windows
Note that Bonjour is only for notifying other devices that a service is present on the network, it doesn't handle the actual file transfer.
There is a Java implementation called Rendezvous Proxy that broadcasts bonjour notifications, may be all you need on your server?
Web page is here: http://ileech.sf.net/RendezvousProxy/
Don't think the source is open though.
Yes there is, check the links on this page

I want to be able to scan a document with my universal windows app.The problem is that The Windows.Devices.Scanners APIs are part of the desktop device family.
Is there any way to check if the app is running on a desktop, and use these API's in that case?
Any other solutions or ideas would be welcome
For SMS, I have pulled the sqlite file and put it under the corresponding directory of the simulator on PC, but it didn't read.
Is it because Mozilla hasn't provided the function of SMS on the simulator?
What if I build the emulator myself, can it read the sms.sqlite I got from the phone? Or if the only way to read the sms is to decompress the code?
As for call logs, I have no idea where it is stored, is it mingled in the activity.sqlite?
I'm kind of lost in the Firefox OS, thanks for your help!
Powerful and dangerous APIs are not available to third-party apps.
Only internal apps can access the WebSMS API and Web Telephony API on firefox-os, because they are intended for system-level apps and default apps created by Mozilla/operators/OEMs.
Check the Permissions Table for Internal (Certified) Apps (MDN).
I'm developing an app to fetch SMS and other data from Firefox OS device. You can see the source code here.
I found something on this documentation page that doesn't make sense to me.
Under requirements, there is:
Minimum supported client: Windows XP **[desktop apps only]**
Minimum supported server: Windows Server 2003 **[desktop apps only]**
Now I understand the difference between an app with a GUI and one that runs as a service, but in the end, they are both processes. I've never heard of this kind of restriction on a function call like this. Is this just poor documentation, or is there something more to this?
With the introduction of Windows 8, Metro, and Windows Store, API documentations now specify which framework(s) they are supported on. Not all desktop APIs are available to metro/mobile apps, and vice versa.
From what I've seen Windows phone 7 couldn't call other applications form inside your application. Is this still the case?
Just wanting to call another application from inside my application? is this possible and if so, can someone point me in the right direction?
Much appreciated for any help.
As of Windows Phone 7.8, inter-app communication is still unavailable. It's also unlikely to be introduced in a future 7.x version.
In Windows Phone 8, you can add a Extensions/Protocol element to your WMAppManifest to reserve a URI prefix that can then be launched from another app using the Launcher class.
For more information, see MSDN:
Auto-launching apps using file and URI associations for Windows Phone 8
How to get above information programatically in wp7?.please tell me idea on this....
There is no API for that, sorry. Applications in Windows Phone 7 are built in a way which forbids you to get this kind of system level information.
