If you haven't already solved your problem, the best way to do this would be to write an SSRS report that then exports to PDF. You can have your button link directly to the report with the Export to PDF parameter in the querystring.

I have developed a BIRT report and need to export the output as PDF and as an Excel Spreadsheet. I am looking a solution to wrap data in PDF report exported from BIRT. A text gets truncated in the PDF, if it does not have spaces as soon as it exceeds the available width of the column.
e.g. phone number getting truncated
I would like to know if there is a solution without the need for adding a custom code as provided in How to wrap column data in birt report. This solution adds whitespace to the data which is not desirable when the report is exported to an excel spreadsheet. In essence, this solution manipulates the data which isn't the right thing to do.
I have tried using the Whitespace auto option but that does not work.
I am using BIRT version 4.12.
I was able to figure out the solution for getting the text wrapped in the PDF export. Made use of IPDFRenderOption.PDF_WORDBREAK for the same.
PDFRenderOption pdfOptions = new PDFRenderOption();
pdfOptions.setOutputFileName("T:/temp/filename.pdf");
pdfOptions.setOutputFormat("pdf");
pdfOptions.setOption(IPDFRenderOption.PDF_WORDBREAK, true);
task.setRenderOption(pdfOptions);
task.run();
I need to create a TOC on a report that will be produced as PDF.
Unfortunately, the TOC mechanism in BIRT when exporting to PDF is to add a bookmark.
However, I need to place a report like
Section A........................1
Section B........................4
Section C........................10
on the first page of the report.
I can't find anything on the books regarding this topic. What is the mechanism to do this?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
This is not possible with BIRT.
What you could try is to create a TOC as usual.
Once the PDF is created with BIRT, you can use iText to read this TOC programatically and create a visible representation for it.

I have been using Rotativa for the last year to print simple html to pdf and its been working fantastic. Very happy with product, but now recently i have been trying to do something a little more advance and i keep having the same issue.
Normally i would send Rotativa a simple invoice view (Predefined HTML) with model data populated via Razor and this worked well, but now i am trying to implement template's for my invoices. Customers can create their own template layouts with a custom 3rd party form designer and then upload its template file into my site. I take this file and parse it and generate the elements of the invoice with stringbuilder and div tags. I then send the generated HTML to the view that uses a #HTML.Raw() to populate the invoice html. Rotativa then takes this View and generates a pdf, but when it generates the pdf its quality of the text is horrible and blurry. Thus it generates the template correctly, but does some sort of shrinking or something to make the text not look crisp.
I have tried everything, from playing with custom switches to playing with the dimensions of the html.
When i copy the generated html to a view and just generate the pdf plainly then it prints fine, but as soon as i push the html to the view with HTML.Raw i seem to land up with fussy text.
Giorgio Bozio, does Rotativa have a issue with Html.Raw? or can you perhaps open a dialog with me to try and resolve this issue? Really hope you can help me...or someone can help me. Desperate and dont really want to change Rotativa for something else.
Please help.
Resolved Text printing issue by removing background-color definitions on Div containers.
Resolved extra blank page printing issue by reducing PageHeight on Rotativa Customswitches
:-)
I am using ssrs 2012.
How can I repeat username in the report header? ReportItem doesn't work if the report spans across more than one page.
I was told to use Internal parameters but there is no such option with rdlc.
Can this somehow be done in codebehind?
Thanks
I am a bit confusing about your problem.
Just add a page header, rigth click on report design surface, insert->page header:
Add a text box and set the expression value to the following built-in field
You should get something like this in every page:
Note I am using rdl but built-in fields is available for both RDL and RDLC.
Let me know if this was helpful.
Is my expectation valid? If yes, please guide me.
Local machine->local server process-> I generate Birt report-> which contain hyperlinks hard coded for example: http://www.ip_one.com/birtserver/parameters...(this is fine and points to another report and get me the report also when I hit the Url from inside the generated pdf report).
Now, what I need is to change ip_one to suppose ip_two once I hit the hyperlink which is inside the pdf(on the fly) keeping all the other parts of the url intact.
I am using birt-rcp-report-designer-4_2_2.
Thanks in advance.
It sounds like you are trying to dynamically create a hyperlink at report run time.
In the properties editor of the report item that has your link (i.e. label), edit the hyperlink. In the Hypelink Options (pop-up) to the left of "Location" field is the button ab| select 'JavaScript' Syntax.
You will be able to create the URL using JavaScript.
