Is there a SaaS tool which will let me interface to a XML based Restful API and do advanced reporting on it? We have a basic report generating system in our application, but need a more advanced solution for some of our customers...
you can find information on GoodData's REST APIs, integration with Talend, Java sample code, and other tips and tricks on our support forum - this is a good place to start: http://support.gooddata.com/forums/46715/entries/77166
Feel free to email support#gooddata.com if you want some help.

What about something like Good Data or Zoho reports?
Are you wanting to have their reports inside your SaaS app? Or is it ok for them to provide the dashboarding?
I'm not sure if I understand what you want to achieve. I assume that you have a REST API based application and you want to analyze it's traffic. The pure Apache log analysis doesn't work as you need more API level analysis (analyzing your application's events).
I think that we something similar. Our application produces an audit log and error log that we load into GoodData and analyze it there.
Let me know if you are interested in more details.

Context
We have an on-premise CRM (8.0) application, which is integrated with different legacy systems. There are approx 20 entities which are created/updated/upserted via the standard SOAP API by the legacy systems.
Question
I would like to log all the incoming requests and responses as SOAP/XML for diagnostics reasons. How can I accomplish this task?
(Note: I know the trivial, but not exactly fit solution to have workflows for create/update on all affected entities. This seems to be not universal enough + we ultimately must log the request text and response text itself)
I haven't tried it yet, but I think it should be possible to configure the native WCF tracing for the Organization Service. This is something really easy to do (it requires to add some configuration to the web.config file) and you will be able to log any request and response. You can take a look about how to configure it here.
EDIT:
In this link you will be able to see what I've just told you working (it was done for CRM2011 but it should works in newer versions): link
I need to do FIX-API based performance testing.
Can you please let me know few way ahead.
Also if I need to develop the in-house plugin then please can you point in some direction that how to do that?
Also does any 3rd party tool like loadrunner or neoload directly support FIX-API protocol testing?
Thanks
This has been asked many times before in many different forums. Please leverage Google for keywords of LoadRunner and FIX for FIXML as aprpopriate
If you want to do a test in FIX protocol over a FIX connection you can try using the FIXRobot. FIXRobot allows to easily write the tests in python. You can include a loop in the test script to pump messages and calculate the perf statistics from your application logs writing some scripts.
We start to integrate yammer metrics in our applications. And i would like to visualize the metrics.
Yammer-metrics have collect process, which could send metrics to Ganglia, or Graphite. But there are a little bit huge to install on my computer.
Do you know some simple reporting tool, with ram storage for example for this usage ?
There is a javascript library that graphs the output of the MetricsServlet: https://github.com/benbertola/metrics-watcher
I was looking at the Metrics project (i assume is this: http://metrics.codahale.com/) and found that is able to export the metrics to a CSV file, which can be used with many reporting tools including this one: DBxtra, the reason i recommend this one is because is very ad-hoc and you can design and view a report in less than 10 minutes, mostly by doing drag and drop.
If you just want to report periodically on your console you could use:
com.yammer.metrics.reporting.ConsoleReporter.enable(5, TimeUnit.MINUTES)
I am looking for a web analytic solution which can also help me to analyze my existing log files. we are moving from sawmill to other solutions.. explored Google Urchin and it has some limitations on analyzing custom existing logs.
Currently exploring webtrends, but i am not sure if it supports custom log analysis
any ideas??
WebTrends will not support custom log formats. Maybe the best way with WebTrends would be to use the Data Collector and/or the API from the Data Collector. Or you put your specific informations within the URL as the Data Collector would do. Here is the link to the API: http://product.webtrends.com/dcapi/sw/index.html
I want a real and honest opinion what do you think of Google Visualization API?
Is it reliable to use becasue when i was reading the documentation i noticed that there are alot of issues and defects to overcome and can i use it to retrieve data from mysql database.
Thank you.
I am currently evaluating it. As compared to other javascript data visualization frameworks, i think it has a lot going for it:
dynamic loading is built-in
diverse, many things to choose from.
looks really great!
framework mostly takes care of picking whatever implementation fits the current browser
service based, you don't need to download anything in advance
unified data source: just create one data table, and have multiple visalizations draw from that data.
As a disadvantage, I'd like to mention security. I mean, because it's all service based, it is not so transparent what happens when you pass data into these API calls. And as far as I know, the API is free, but not open source, so I can't really check what is going on behind the covers.
I think the Google visualization API really shines if you want to very quickly whip up a visualization gadget for use in a blog or so, and you are not interested in deploying all kinds of plugins and libraries (for eaxmple, with jQuery based frameworks, you need may need to manage multitple javascript libraries that work together to deliver the goods). If on the other hand you are creating an application that you want to sell, you might want to keep more control over what components you are using, and I would probably consider using something like Flot
But like I said, I am only evaluation atm, I am not using this in production.
Works really great for me. Can be customized fairly easily. Haven't seen any scaling issues. No data is exposed so security should not be an issue. - Arunabh Das
One point I want to add here is that, Google Visualization API cannot be downloaded, its not available for offline usage. So application which is going to use it must be always connected to internet, otherwise I think it wont be able to render charts. Due
to this limitation, this API cannot be used in some applications for which internet connection is not available.
I am currently working on a web based application that will have the Google Visualization API added to it and from the perspective of a developer the Google Visualization API is very limited in what you can do with each individual Chart and if I had a choice I would probably look at dojox charting just because of the extra flexibility that the framework gives you.
If you are doing any kind of large web application that will use charting extensively then I would not recommend the Google Visualizations API it does not have enough flexibility for a large web application.
I am using Google Visualization API and I want to stress that they still won't let you download it, which means if their servers are down, your app will be down if you depend on it. I have been using it for about 4 months, and they have crashed once me once so I'd say they pretty reliable and their documentation is really nice.
