I use a combination of ForkLift and Textmate to edit files on a remote server via FTP. it works really well, except for one little quirk: when I hit save on Textmate, Forklift saves the file, and then Forklift takes the focus. So, every time I hit Save on Textmate, I have to wait for Forklift to save, and then hit Cmd + Tab to return to Textmate.
Is there a way this can be avoided? I.e. is there a way that when I hit Save on TextMate, the focus does NOT get taken by ForkLift?
And, by the way, I tried to edit the files with TextEdit instead of TextMate, and the behaviour did not change. So, I'm guessing this is either a ForkLift issue, or a Mac issue.
Either way, help would be much appreciated.
Just tested with Forklift Version 2.0.6 (315) and couldn't find the behavior described by you. The focus wasn't lost by saving the document within Textmate.
Maybe 'already' fixed?

have an application that keeps reinstalling itself even after uninstall. It's an app that helps you type in chinese characters. As you can see from the format of this message that it messes with my typing.

I have the same problem since last Saturday (26/4).
I used unlocker as recommended by another website to remove the application. But my alt+shift and Window+space hot keys are both not working anymore. So I restored window back to a previous restore point for restoring the hot keys.
However, after a while the application reinstalled back.
I tried unhackme but the application reinstall after a few reboot. For the passed 1 week I've been fighting with this application.
On the 30/4, I was thinking whether to refresh my windows, suddenly I realised that I had copy an excel file from my client on 25/4. His computer same having the same problem. So I tried to delete the said excel file but it can't be deleted. So I use unlocker to delete the folder storing the excel file. than I use unhackme to remove all file/program related to Dongfanginput, use unlocker to delete the folder at program folder, restore window to a previous restore point. My computer is running smoothly for pass 2 days and hoping that the problem wouldn't come back again. (sorry for my poor English)
On OS X 10.10 (Yosemite), the keyboard shortcut to paste the clipboard Command ⌘+V behaves like Page Up.
Right now I'm able to reproduce this issue only in Mail and Evernote.
Pressing Super+v, Super+v does pageup, paste though.
I use Karabiner to remap some keys, but never Command ⌘ keys.
If I close Karabiner it doesn't change anything.
I have at some point used vim, the pbcopy terminal command, and some OS configuration from https://github.com/mathiasbynens/dotfiles/blob/master/.osx
But I don't see why this could be a problem.
Does anyone know how to fix this or why it happens?
Are you able to replicate this issue in multiple users on your machine? If so, then the issue is likely to have something to do with the modifications you outlined above (such as Karabiner or Vim), or some larger operating system related issue.
If you're not able to replicate the problem in multiple users, it could be related to a problematic preference file. If you open a Finder window and navigate to ~/Library/Preferences, you could try moving the com.apple.HIToolbox.plist to your Desktop, logging out, then logging back in and testing again.

I'm in the middle of putting together a script that manipulates an OmniGraffle document and saves the result of each progressive manipulation as a PNG. That's all working fine, but at the end of process, I want to close the file without saving the changes.
Naturally, I reached for the "revert" command. Except that "revert" doesn't appear to be a command on Lion. I tried "close saving no," but since it was autosaving as each manipulation was made, that didn't work.
Of course, I can simply leave the document open and manually revert it. Nevertheless....
Am I missing something? Is there truly no way to programmatically roll back changes made to a file using AppleScript on Lion?
Update: it appears to be worse than I expected — on a volume without permanent version storage, at least — after many manipulations with AppleScript, "Revert Document…" was no longer even available in the File menu.
I can only think of a workaround: since you're not interested in keeping those intermediate versions anyway, you could:
make a backup copy of the file prior to opening it in OmniGraffle
do your changes + PNG exports
close w/o saving
overwrite the file with the backup copy (and delete the backup)
One of my programs seems to be changing the Display Properties > Appearance > Effects > Show window contents while dragging setting to off every few hours.
I'm not sure exactly which program, or when it happens. I have a number of programs that seem like likely culprits - wallpaper rotators, software for multiple monitors, multiple virual desktops and switching, and a few others.
I am just thinking to create a little batch script to run periodically and set the setting back to on.
Does anyone know how to do this in windows? I'm using xp pro sp3.

The best option is to do this programmatically using the supported API. i haven't tested this, but it should do the trick:

You can use SPI_GETDRAGFULLWINDOWS to see if the the bit has been flipped to avoid unnecessarily triggering a WM_SETTINGCHANGE.
You can use RegMon to find the program that keeps changing your settings. Maybe that's a better start than hacking around it.
There is a simple and effective solution to this problem. In Notepad type the following lines :

Save the file as "Show Window Contents.reg" Double clicking this file and restarting will cure the problem permanently. Post a message if you find this useful.

It seems the registry setting which controls that preference is HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop\DragFullWindows. You can read more about it here. However, trying it on my own computer does not register the change right away, so a batch script won't do it. You'll probably have to write a program to manipulate it using SystemParametersInfo(). You can pass it the SPI_SETDRAGFULLWINDOWS parameter. Here's a page explaining it more. Here's a page showing how to call it, albeit not for the same parameter.
I suspect it's kept in the registry - maybe [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] - "DragFullWindows"?
It would be easy to flip the registry setting back to "1" every hour or so with a batch file.

Attempting to dock a window is almost always the wrong kind of dock the first time until :I move the mouse just right. Why can't it have the docking cues that VS2008 has?
The ridiculous behavior when you attempt to use click-drag to select text on a line that is wider than its physical window.
The pieces of the history window that I need to copy/paste into bug reports are frequently wider than the physical window. I've gotten so used to the triple-click workaround that I find myself attempting to misuse triple click in other (well behaved) applications.
Key presses are ignored while the focus is in a source window. It's not like you can edit the source code from inside windbg. At least there's the Alt-1 workaround.
How insanely slow .kdfiles copies new binaries across the 1394 connection. It can take up to one minute for a large dll.
Not being able to switch from output window to command window using a key press, I read that 'Alt+1' should work but it doesn't always so I always have to resort to using the mouse. Also sometimes it doesn't remember when I tell it not to ask me everytime if I want to save the workspace when I quit.
