Where should jpos.xml be located for JavaPos Tomcat app.? - javapos

I am trying to add in a new driver to our system running under Tomcat. The vendor has provided a JavaPos driver, my question is where to put the jpos.xml file so Tomcat can find it?
I tried putting it in tomcat\common\classes but still get a JPOSException
"Service does not exist in loaded JCL registry" when I try to open it. Help!
Yes correct, JavaPOS. I'm integrating JavaPos into an existing client side Tomcat app., and would like to know the correct place (in the expanded war file) to put jpos.xml and also jpos.properties.

jython zxJDBC UCanAccess Driver Class?

Trying to get the combo jython-zxJDBC-UCanAccess working on my Windows machine; been driving me nuts the entire day as I keep getting
zxJDBC.DatabaseError ( driver [net.ucanaccess.jdbc.UcanaccessDriver] not found ), and
zxJDBC.DatabaseError ( driver [ucanaccess] not found )
I had been using this sample code from Gord Thompson with my particulars - keeps failing with driver-not-found errors whatever I try:

What I don't get is what is "driver_class"?. I thought that the database-specific driver gets located by means of Jython/SikuliX looking in CLASSPATH, where the '.../ucanaccess-5.0.0.jar' is seen.

Does anyone spot the issue?
Issue was found to be a special twist of SikuliX 2.0.4 which cannot evaluate the CLASSPATH variable. Here the workarounds / SiluliX' way to get to know the location of JARs:
Two Solutions:
Solution A
SikuliX IDE looks into the folder
<C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Sikulix\Extensions>; all five relevant
JAR files need to be places in that folder (no 'lib' subfolder as in
the deployment pack):
ucanaccess-5.0.0.jar
commons-lang3-3.8.1.jar
commons-logging-1.2.jar
hsqldb-2.5.0.jar
jackcess-3.0.1.jar
Check the extension JARs that get found by seeing
SikuliX->Tools->Extensions...
Solution B
Leave the needed JARs in their original deployment folder, and add
their path to the 'Special File'

NXlog will not start - AlienVault Config

I am trying to configure NXlog to work with AlienVault based on the guide here
I installed the custom config file from AlienVault and modified the destination IP only. When I did this I could not get the NXlog service to start - Then I reinstalled the default config but I still cannot get it to open.
I edited the file in notepad which I thing should be safe, however I have read here that it is possibly the UTF-8 BOM - I am not sure how to check if there is one but I do not believe there is because I only used notepad.
The first line in the config file looks like so:
define ROOT C:\Program Files (x86)\nxlog
The NXlog Log file with the errors is only displaying this error:
nxlog failed to start: Invalid keyword: define at C:\Program Files (x86)\nxlog\conf\nxlog.conf:1
Not very helpful - Seems to be choking on the very first word - Anyone seen this before???
I'm pretty sure that's caused by the UTF-8 BOM in your config file. I suggest using and checking with an editor that can handle this. In HEX mode you can confirm whether the file has a BOM or not.
The NXLog EE v4.0 can cope with the BOM properly BTW.
As B0ti mentioned, my problem was caused by the BOM - I couldn't figure out how to fix this on windows so I downloaded the file into a Linux environment and fixed it there. To do so follow these steps -
First I verified there was a BOM in place with the file command:
ex: file filename.txt -This will print information about the file - if there is a BOM you will see that.
Next I followed the answer here for removing the BOM:
Basically just do this in the Linux box - sed '1s/^\xEF\xBB\xBF//' < orig.txt > new.txt
Then I transferred the new file back to the Windows box and all was right with the world!

Specifying index path with Hibernate Search and Spring

I have problem setting the correct path for my index. It would be great if it was inside my spring application, since it would work even after I deploy my application to Cloudbees I guess.
This is my obejct that I trying to index:

I specify the lucene index path like this:

Which doesnt give me any error but I cant find the folder either, which I dont understand. I tried searching for it.

But still cant find the folder. However after a while of struggling with this I try to put it in my home directory. (which might give me problem later when deploying to the cloud):

I getting the following
Cannot write into index directory: /lucene/indexes for index educations
So I assume its a permission error. I try the following in terminal (OSX):
sudo chmod -R u+rwX /lucene/indexes/
and
sudo chmod -R 755 /lucene/indexes/
But still the same error. Can someone spread some light on this?

After some more investigation I am sure it is a problem of permissions. If I specify the full path to my root of the Spring application, it works. I still don't know how to specify this without giving it the full path.
Relative paths are relative to the directory the Java process is launched from. If you have some startup script or similar look in the directory of this script. Absolute paths work fine, but of course you need permissions to write to it.
If you want a more generic solution for your case, you could for example set the right directory as a system property when starting the application and read it from there when creating your Properties. Or you try in another way to determine the full path of your app at runtime.
I couldn't find where the folders were located either so i came up with the following solution:
First i get the location of the working directory by calling System.getProperty("user.dir"). This is OS independent so it works both on linux and windows. The working directory is the directory from which your application is loaded. Next i simply append the relative path that i want as a location for my lucene indexes to the working directory folderpath. Then i use that as the value for hibernate.search.default.indexBase. Now i'll always know where to look for the lucene indexes.
Heres the code:
String luceneFilePath = System.getProperty("user.dir") + "/resources/lucene/indexes";
Properties props = new Properties();
props.put("hibernate.search.default.indexBase", luceneFilePath);

Gradlew behind a proxy

I have a sample from Gaelyk (called Bloogie) and it is using gradlew.
I am behind a proxy.
I've read gradle docs and found this:
gradle.properties
systemProp.http.proxyHost=www.somehost.org
systemProp.http.proxyPort=8080
systemProp.http.proxyUser=userid
systemProp.http.proxyPassword=password
But I have no clue how to put this info into the wrapper gradlew. Any idea?
All you have to do is to create a file called gradle.properties (with the properties you mentioned above) and place it under your gradle user home directory (which defaults to USER_HOME/.gradle) OR in your project directory.
Gradle (the wrapper too!!!) automatically picks up gradle.properties files if found in the user home directory or project directories.

I could not get the proxy property to work until I set the https proxy:

However I had to use the http property for user name and password:

systemProp.http.proxyPassword=password
This problem with the Gradle Wrapper has been fixed with Gradle 1.0-milestone-8. Give it a shot.
after of this JDK update, I couldn't use gradlew behind a proxy again.
and finally I found a JDK has disabled Basic authentication for HTTPS tunneling by default.
so I have to add this property for gradle.properties in addition to proxy settings

To add more nuances, for my case, when I have multiple gradle.properties files in both USER_HOME/.gradle and the project root, I encountered the authenticationrequired 407 error, with the bellow log: CONNECT refused by proxy: HTTP/1.1 407 authenticationrequired
This caused my systemProp.https.proxyPassword and systemProp.http.proxyPasswordblank in the gradle.properties file under USER_HOME/.gradle, while the gradle.properties file under the project root remained password info. Not sure the exact reason, But when I remove one gradle.properties in the project root and keep the file in the USER_HOME/.gradle, my case is resolved.
I had same problem and first thing I did was to create gradle.properties. I had not such as file so I should create it with following content:

I was found that reading of properties from gradle.properties can be incorrect. In case line contains trail white space, gradle cannot find proxy. check your proxy file and cut whitespace at the end of line. Can be help
This was not working for me at first.
In my case, I had created what I thought was a USER_HOME/.gradle/gradle.properties file but ended up with a gradle.properties.txt file.
From the terminal window an ls command will show the full file names in the .gradle folder.
Then mv gradle.properties.txt gradle.properties
I have the same proxy issue while working with Cordova project.
To fix the issue, I have created a new gradle.properties file under the android folder of my Cordova project (hello/platforms/android), and added the code from your question

After lots of struggling with this and banging my head against a wall, because nothing on my system was using a proxy: it turned out that my ** Android Emulator instance ** itself was secretly/silently setting a proxy for me via Android Emulator > Settings > Proxy and had applied these settings when playing around with it weeks earlier in order to troubleshoot an issue with Expo.
If anyone is having this issue, make sure you check 100% to see if indeed no custom proxy settings are being used via: ./gradlew installDebug --info --debug --stacktrace and searching for proxyHost in the log output to make sure of this. It may be your emulator.
The following applies when your gradle archive is mirrored behind the firewall (like mine..):
For some reason, I needed both of these lines:

EVEN though my download line started with https, such as below:

It wasn't working in ANY other way... except only it worked if I used export JAVA_OPTS=-Dhttp.nonProxyHosts=localserver.co|etc.
Even though my environment variable no_proxy was already correctly set, it wasn't working without the two values in the above properties.

I just installed PHP and Apache on my home PC. When I try to call function mysql_connect I get:
fatal error: call to undefined function mysql_connect.
I have loaded php.ini where I have uncommented lines extension=php_mysql.dll and
extension=php_mysqli.dll and changed extension directory to extension_dir = "C:\php\ext" - which is the directory where files php_mysql.dll and php_mysqli.dll are. How can I fix this problem?

After looking at your phpinfo() output, it appears the mysql extensions are not being loaded. I suspect you might be editing the wrong php.ini file (there might be multiple copies). Make sure you are editing the php file at C:\php\php.ini (also check to make sure there is no second copy in C:\Windows).
Also, you should check your Apache logs for errors (should be in the \logs\ directory in your Apache install.
If you haven't read the below, I would take a look at the comments section, because it seems like a lot of people experience quirks with setting this up. A few commenters offer solutions they used to get it working.

Another common solution seems to be to copy libmysql.dll and php_mysql.dll from c:\PHP to C:\Windows\System32.
Background about my (similar) problem:
I was asked to fix a PHP project, which made use of short tags. My WAMP server's PHP.ini had short_open_tag = off.
In order to run the project for the first time, I modified this setting to short_open_tag = off.
PROBLEM Surfaced:
Immediately after this change, all my mysql_connect() calls failed. It threw an error
fatal error: call to undefined function mysql_connect.
Solution:
Simply set short_open_tag = off.
My PC is running Windows 7 (Apache 2.2 & PHP 5.2.17 & MySQL 5.0.51a), the syntax in the file "httpd.conf" (C:\Program Files (x86)\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\conf\httpd.conf) was sensitive to slashes.
You can check if "php.ini" is read from the right directory. Just type in your browser "localhost/index.php". The code of index.php is the following:

There is the row (not far from the top) called "Loaded Configuration File". So, if there is nothing added, then the problem could be that your "php.ini" is not read, even you uncommented (extension=php_mysql.dll and extension=php_mysqli.dll). So, in order to make it work I did the following step. I needed to change from
PHPIniDir 'c:\PHP\'
to
PHPIniDir 'c:\PHP'
Pay the attention that the last slash disturbed everything!
Now the row "Loaded Configuration File" gets "C:\PHP\php.ini" after refreshing "localhost/index.php" (before I restarted Apache2.2) as well as mysql block is there. MySQL and PHP are working together!
You have probably forgotten to restart apache/wamp/xamp/whatever webserver you use, you need to do that in order to make it work
Check your php.ini, I'm using Apache2.2 + php 5.3. and I had the same problem and after modify the php.ini in order to set the libraries directory of PHP, it worked correctly. The problem is the default extension_dir configuration value.
The default (and WRONG) value for my work enviroment is
; extension_dir="ext"
without any full path and commented with a semicolon.
There are two solution that worked fine for me.
1.- Including this line at php.ini file
extension_dir="X:/[PathToYourPHPDirectory]/ext
Where X: is your drive letter instalation (normally C: or D: )
2.- You can try to simply uncomment, deleting semicolon. Include the next line at php.ini file
extension_dir="ext"
Both ways worked fine for me but choose yours. Don't forget restart Apache before try again.

Hi I got this error because I left out the ampersand (&) in
; php.ini
error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED
Be sure you edited php.ini in /php folder, I lost all day to detect error and finally I found I edited php.ini in wrong location.
After change our php.ini, make sure to restart Apache web server.
Just for future reference, copying all these extension files to Windows/System or Windows/System32 is unnecessary.
All that is required is a copy of the php.ini file you edit in the PHP dir to copied to the root Windows dir.
phpinfo will clearly explain the below:
Configuration File (php.ini) Path C:\Windows
Logical sense will explain that php wants to load a config located in the Windows dir. :-)
One time I had a problem while using Off instead of off. And also check the pads one more time... The path has to be exact. Also add the following line to your environmental variable.
C:\your-apache-path\bin; C:\your-php-path\bin;C:\your-mysql-path\bin
If you are in Windows, right click My Computer, select properties, and navigate to the Advanced tab... (is Windows 7). Click on Advanced system settings first then select the Advanced tab and then Environmental variables. Select PATH and click on Edit. Make a copy of the string in a .txt file for back up (it might be empty)--- set your environmental variables... Log out and log back in.
Since mysql_connect This extension was deprecated in PHP 5.5.0, and it was removed in PHP 7.0.0. Instead, the MySQLi or PDO_MySQL extension should be used.
by default xampp does not load it automatically
in your php.ini file you should uncomment

Then restart your apache you should be fine
This same problem drove me nuts (Windows 10, Apache 2.4, MySql 5.7). For some reason (likely PATH related), the .dlls would not load after uncommenting the correct exension dlls and extension_dir = "ext" in php.ini. After trying numerous things, I simply changed "ext" to use the full directory path. For example. extension_dir = "c:/phpinstall/ext" and it worked.
I think that you should use mysqli_connect instead of mysql_connect
