Magento - change address to which confirmation is sent after newsletter subscription - magento

By default, Magento sends out a confirmation email (to the user) after a user subscribes to the newsletter. Is it possible to change the email address to which the confirmation is sent?

Refer to my answer to your question about changing the action path of the subscribe.phtml file. If you override the newAction in subscriberController.php, you will be able to add in all your extra requirements, such as emailing the store admin, changing the information in the outgoing email, etc.
There is a detailed walkthrough on the Magento wiki on how to configure Magento to use your custom controller instead of the core. This is best practice as it means that future patches/upgrades from Magento shouldn't break your customization.

Mail chimp unsubscribes directly without confirmation page

I have the email marketing setup for the newsletter with mailchimp. When the subscribers get the email there is a standard static footer added by mailchimp automatically.
This has an unsubscribe link which directly unsubscribed the users without asking for confirmation email step.
I would like to have another step to confirm with user as this happens even with a forwarded email it removes the user from the subscription.
There is a way around for this, remove the |UNSUB| merge tag from your email footer and add custom Unsubscribe Form URL.
You can get your custom Unsubscribe Form URL, from the List you want it for.
Choose the list -> Signup Forms -> Form Builder -> Unsubscribe Form (choose this from Forms and Response emails drop down)
This will ask users to provide their email address to unsubscribe from the list.
Edit: This have a disadvantage of asking user email again and confirming the same, I will also suggest to remove |UNSUB| and use |UPDATE_PROFILE| (which have unsubscribe option with updating preference, user may change their mind)

Magento - New Order mail not getting triggered to specific domain

Recently i deployed Magento store And made some test order,
where following observation i made on Transactional Emails.
New Order email is triggered to my gmail account, if i use account associated with it.
but when i used another account to make purchase, that order is placed but New order mail is not being triggered to that email.
Based on above observation i am afraid that theirs possibility that emails might not get delivered to some others emails also.
Now, I am looking for some solution that will solve this or possibility is that i might have missed some configuration.

You can use SMTP Pro Email, which is an extension that allows Magento to send all its automatic emails, from any e-mail service you want, even your gmail account for example. With this solution, you can try several e-mail server/services and finally pick the one that is not blocked or flagged as SPAM.

Order confirmation mail content based on the Product type

I am working on Magento site. My client's requirement is to send Order confirmation email with some content for Gift Card Product type and some other content for simple product type.

Magento - How to send an email with a custom template?

I've installed a gateway module which works through a site-wide based payment, I mean, the customer pay the order inside the store. I know all payment statuses for any transaction, for example, 0 = "Order received", 1 = "Checking payment", 2 = "Authorized" and others. I would like to send an email to the customer (with Bcc to store administrator) to notice that the payment hasn't been authorized. Can I create a custom email template from admin dashboard and send an email using that new custom template? I would like also to put a link on the message which allows the customer trying make a payment again.
Any lights??
Answer to the first question: It's not possible to do in admin panel only. In admin panel you can only translate already existing email templates.
Answer to the second question: dig into code, for example, take a look at the Mage_Sales_Model_Order::sendNewOrderEmail() method, and then come back if you have some concrete questions.

How do I turn off PayPal IPN in Magento?

When people make a successful payment with PAyPal in my Magento webshop it automatically creates an invoice with unique invoice number. For bookkeeping reasons, I have to disable it.
I've been searching for a few weeks now but I still haven't found the solution for this problem. What I know so far is that this is caused by IPN. The problem is I don't know how to turn this off without damaging my shop or paypal payments.
Some more specs:

"Turning it Off" is sort of vague, but there's no configuration setting on the Magento side that will allow you to accept PayPal standard payments using the IPN system but not create invoices. You're looking at writing custom code to do this. Here are some starting points.
PayPal IPN works with a callback URL. That is, once PayPal has processed a payment, it fetches a specific URL from Magento with a specific set of data in the post field. Then, based on this information, appropriate action is taken (an invoice is created, a credit is issued, etc.). So the quickest way to achieve your goal would be to change the IPN URL in your PayPal configuration. This means PayPal is still notifying a URL, but not the Magento URL, and an invoice never gets created.
If that doesn't work or has unacceptable side effects, here's the code points you're interested in. Assuming you're using a standard Magento PayPal setup with an IPN URL configured at

Trace the code from here to find the method you'll want to rewrite and implement your desired functionality changes (not creating an invoice). Your best bet will be setting up a PayPal developer sandbox account so you can repeatedly hit the URL until you've traced your code to the right spot.

What I’ve been really surprised by over the past few weeks is the number of sites that don’t actually have this turned on and it’s just not limited to self-builds even the really expensive Magento builds are missing this out this as a step.
Turning on the PayPal Instant Payment Notification (IPN for short) is an excellent idea as means that when a customer pays for an item using PayPal then the payment information will be updated on the Magento order details in the administration panel.
It only takes a few moments to enable and I’ll show you how to enable IPN for your Magento site below. This will mean that when you receive an order via PayPal Express for example, you can actually see the transaction details in Magento and if you’re using eSellerPro and have the eSellerPro Connector enabled for sales order processing, your order & payment details will match up automatically.
Setting this up won’t take more than a few moments and here are 6 simple steps to do this:
1 Login to PayPal
2 Hover on “Profile” and select “My Selling Preferences”
3 Halfway down the page, click on “Update” next to “Instant payment notifications”
Now enter the following details:
Notification URL – This is simply http://your-magento-store.com/paypal/ipn/ replacing “your-magento-store.com” with your website address. <= This is the part that normally trips everyone up as they’re not sure what to enter here.
IPN messages – Set this to “Receive IPN messages (Enabled)”
Press Save
That’s it job done.
To test whether IPN is working or not is dead simple, just make a test transaction through your website (you will need a secondary PayPal account for this) and a few minutes later, check on the order in your Magento admin panel has been updated with the PayPal transaction details.
