Grails Sorting Issue - sorting

I have a grails app developed.
Herein, I have a page which accepts data and as per the data . goes to the list action, fires an sql, populates the data into reconciliationInstance object and displays it in list.gsp.
In my list.gsp, I have,
<g:sortableColumn property="access"
title="${message(code: 'reconciliationInstance.access.label', default: 'Access')}"
style="width: 10px" defaultOrder="desc"/>
However, when I click on the "Amount" heading, it takes me back to the list action again.
I have around 15 columns in the page and want to have sorting for all of them.
Am I missing something here??
To rectify this issue ,I wrote the below code.
Redirected to action sort. But theres something wrong here I believe.
def sort = {
if (!params.sort) params.sort = "title"
if (!params.order) params.order = "asc"
def reconciliationInstanceList = new ArrayList<Reconciliation>()
reconciliationInstanceList=session["reconciliationInstanceList"]
order(params.sort, params.order)
[reconciliationInstanceList: reconciliationInstanceList]
}
I have saved reconciliationInstanceList in a session.
Any Advice/Inputs?
My list action code is as below.
def list ={
//Taking parameters entered in the previous page
def odcNum=params.odcNum
def odcDate=params.odcDate
def date=null
def reconciliationInstance = new Reconciliation()
reconciliationInstance.properties=params
//Validation if all parameters have been entered by the user
if (reconciliationInstance.validate()) {
def results
SimpleDateFormat sdfSource = new SimpleDateFormat("dd-MMM-yyyy")
if(odcDate instanceof Date) {
date = sdfSource.format(odcDate);
}else{
date = odcDate
}
//Query to be fired. I have altered this query a bit. My actual query returns around 15 parameters
String odcData="select odc_access from odc_manager where odc_date=to_char('" + date + "') and odc_num like trim('" + odcNum + "')"
def reconciliationInstanceList = new ArrayList<Reconciliation>()
Sql sql = new Sql(dataSource)
results = sql.eachRow (odcData)
{
def reconciliation = new Reconciliation()
reconciliation.setAccess it.access
reconciliationInstanceList.add reconciliation
session["reconciliationInstanceList"]=reconciliationInstanceList
}
[reconciliationInstanceList: reconciliationInstanceList]
}
else {
render(view: "search", model: [reconciliationInstance: reconciliationInstance])
}
}
BTW I am a novice at grails. Therefore, you would find a bit of java in my code.
Somethings missing in my code? Therefore sort doesnt work. Inputs?

it should take you back to the list action, but the params passed to the action will let it know how to sort the resulting model.
the behavior is correct, I assume your code in the list action is not coded properly... You might want to include that code if you want additional guidance.
See sample list action
http://www.grails.org/GSP+Tag+-+sortableColumn

Found a work around for this. Passed the sort order (params.order) to the sql query and let the query do the sorting. Displayed the results on the gsp then.
If there's any other way, do let me know.

Magento search queries yielding empty results in API

I have this chunk of code:
//to-do
public function searchVehicles($terms, $offset=1, $order='ASC')
{
if (trim($terms) == '') {
return array();
}
$query = $this->_getQuery($terms);
$query->setStoreId(1);
if ($query->getId()) {
$query->setPopularity($query->getPopularity()+1);
}
else {
$query->setPopularity(1);
}
$query->prepare();
$query->save();
$collection = Mage::getResourceModel('catalog/product_collection');
$collection->getSelect()->joinInner(
array('search_result' => $collection->getTable('catalogsearch/result')),
$collection->getConnection()->quoteInto(
'search_result.product_id=e.entity_id AND search_result.query_id=?',
$query->getId()
),
array('relevance' => 'relevance')
);
$collection->setStore(1);
//Mage::getSingleton('catalog/product_status')->addVisibleFilterToCollection($collection);
//Mage::getSingleton('catalog/product_visibility')->addVisibleInSearchFilterToCollection($collection);
return $this->_listProductCollection($collection, $offset, $order);
}
Which is inside a Resource class and reachable via SOAP.
Before we start: Yes, I remember to do the cache flushing and recompiling process - I clarify because this is an usual issue to newbies like me xDDD.
Now: I can access such method but it returns [].
SPECIAL NOTE: $this->_listProductCollection($collection, $offset, $order); WORKS since i'm using the same method in other collections fetched from other methods in the same resource, and have no trouble at all.
Let me review the intention of my code since I'm a newbie at Magento (I'm using version 1.6.2).
The code is based on the CatalogSearch/ResultController controller's indexAction() method, and tried to learn about it.
An empty query will yield an empty result and will not bother the Magento search engine.
There's only a Store (id = 1) in the site and the search query is created like this:
private function _getQuery($terms)
{
$query = Mage::getModel('catalogsearch/query')->loadByQuery($terms);
if (!$query->getId()) {
$query->setQueryText($terms);
}
return $query;
}
The query increases it's popularity (I took this code from the controller. I assume this is for statistical purposes only).
The query is prepared (I think this means: the MySQL internal query is prepared) so I can fetch it later.
The query is saved - AFAIK this means that the query results are iterated and cached so a subsequent same query will only fetch the stored results instead of processing the search again.
At this point the query will have an ID.
I get the whole Product collection, and join it with the search result table. SEEMS that the results table has - at least (queryId, matchedProductId). I only keep the products having IDs in the matched results, and from store 1.
I list the products.
Note that the filters are currently commented.
However, the returned list is [] (an empty list) when I hit this API entry point, althought searching in the usual search bar gives me the expected result.
Question: What am I missing? What did I misunderstood in the process?

How do I use FTSearchSorted to filter a view in XPages?

I'm working on my Excel exporting using Apache POI. I want to be able to include a query string to limit the exported contents, but I either end up getting 0 documents or getting a couple of documents.
When I get a couple of document, it's unclear if the view object is actually modified. It still responds to getEntryCount with 13 documents, but exports just 2 and doesn't print the columnValues for those two. If I don't use the search, it exports the entire view flawlessly.
The server-side javascript has these few relevant lines.
function createWorkbookStreamWithLabels(workbookName,sheetName,fieldList,dbName,viewName,colLabels,totalLabels,queryString){
...a bunch of other code to get a handle to the view...
postValidationError(control,"Entries: " + view.getEntryCount());
var docCount = view.FTSearchSorted(queryString);
postValidationError(control,"Query: " + queryString);
postValidationError(control,"Query count: " + docCount);
if ( docCount == 0) return;
...code that walks the view and prints the contents...
}
My 0 hit queries include:
FIELD lastname CONTAINS e
and
[state] CONTAINS V
The one that gets two hits is simple:
VA
The view is sorted and now the database is full-text indexed. The column containing State is now sorted and click to sort, ascending.
Just for reference, here's the function that displays my status messages.
function postValidationError(control, msg) {
if ((typeof msg) != "string")
return;
var msgObj = new javax.faces.application.FacesMessage(javax.faces.application.FacesMessage.SEVERITY_ERROR, msg, msg);
facesContext.addMessage(control.getClientId(facesContext), msgObj);
control.setValid(false);
}
What have I done wrong?
Update: the problem with my search queries is solved, but my code also seems to have a terrific tendency to crash HTTP or the server.

Get Crystal Report data in session

I have noticed that crystal report runs the Linq query once again when the page index is changed, means when we load second page from first page?
So just wanted to know if we can get which page is loaded so that we can keep values in session.
Just a hint is required as I am not getting the desired results from Google.
Update:
I am sorry in a hurry I just clicked on a wrong tag.
So the problem is like:
This is my code below which I use fr running my crystal report:
var rpt = new Result();
List<class> lst1 = new DALMethod().Get();
rpt.SetDataSource(lst1);
CRReportViewer.ReportSource = rpt;
When I switch from page one to two or more, this method in DAL is called again taking the same time it took first time to load, so I just want to have the data in session when query runs first time, and next time when I get the page index, then I will show data from session.
Is there a way around by which I can get the page index in this c# code?
I had found the solution, hope this might help someone else:
I was using a generic list as a data source:
As soon as we get to know the page loads for the first time, I mean not a postback, we can initialize a list to be maintained in session.
After showing the report we can add the data source (which is a list type).
On Report page shift data will be taken from session.
if (!IsPostBack)
{
//clear session and create new session
Session["ReportGenericList"] = null;
}
List<class> datasourceLst=null;
if (Session["ReportGenericList"] != null)
{
datasourceLst= (List<class>)Session["ReportGenericList"];
}
else
{
datasourceLst = //call methods to fill datasource
Session["ReportGenericList"] = datasourceLst;
}

CakePHP Pagination sort() on Related Models

I have two models: Plans and PlanDetails.
Relationship is: PlanDetails hasMany Plans. Plans belongTo PlanDetails.
In the PlanDetails view.ctp, I am pulling in related Plans.
I am trying to sort the Plans by ANY field (I've tried them all), and I cannot get it working. I assume I am overlooking something very simple.
Here is my base code:
PlanDetail >> view.ctp:
...foreach ($planDetail['Plan'] as $plan_edit) :
$class = null;
if ($i++ % 2 == 0) {
$class = ' class="altrow"';
}...
<?php echo $this->Paginator->sort('Plan ID', 'Plan.id'); ?>...
...<?php echo $plan_edit['id']; ?>
plan_details_controller.php:
...function view($id = null) {
if (!$id) {
$this->Session->setFlash(__('Invalid plan detail', true));
$this->redirect(array('action' => 'index'));
}
$this->PlanDetail->recursive = 2; // To run the editable form deeper.
$this->set('planDetail', $this->PlanDetail->read(null, $id));
$this->set('plan', $this->paginate('Plan'));
}...
I should add, no errors are being thrown and the sort() arrows on the ID field are showing as expected, but the sort order DOES not change when clicked either way.
Sorry, I'm not able to comment on the question itself, but I've noticed that in your action, you set planDetail to be the PlanDetail record you read (with recursive set to 2), and then you set plan to be the result of the paginate call.
Then, in your view template, you're iterating over $planDetail's contained Plan association, like this:
foreach ($planDetail['Plan'] as $plan_edit):
But in order to get the sorting and pagination done, you need to be displaying the results of the paginate call i.e. iterate over the records contained in $plan.
Do a debug($plan) in your view template to see what results you get there and to see if the records' ordering changes when you sort by different fields.
Also, perhaps you're using syntax I'm not aware of, but if you simply call $this->paginate('Plan') in your controller, I don't know that you're going to get only the related Plan records for your particular PlanDetail record. (There's nothing tying the $id passed into your view action with the Plan records.) You might need to add some conditions to the paginate call, like so:
$this->paginate['Plan'] = array('conditions' => array('Plan.plan_detail_id' => $id));
$this->set('plans', $this->paginate('Plan'));
Here is what I did to solve this. Based on some helpful direction from johnp & tokes.
plan_details/view.ctp:
...$i = 0;
foreach ($plan as $plan_edit) : // note $plan here.
}...
In my plan_details_controller.php view action:
$conditions = array("Plan.plan_detail_id" => "$id");
$this->set('plan', $this->paginate('Plan', $conditions)); // note "plan" in the first argument of set (this is required to pass the results back to the view). Also. The $condition is set to return ONLY plans that match the plan_detail_id of id (on the plan_details table).
And in my view, in order to get my results (because I changed the array name), I had to change the way I was getting the values to:
$plan_edit['Plan']['modified'] // note I placed ['Plan'] in front of these calls as the array called for this to get the data...
Well until the next problem! SOLVED.

Subsonic 3 Newtonsoft JSON "Self referencing loop Exception"

Hi I been searching for my error but I can't find anything that help me. The problem is this. I been working with Subsonic 3, Newtonsoft Json and the linq way of write so I have this easy query:
var found = from client in newclients.All() where client.Period == "sometext" select client;
string periodoJSON = JsonConvert.SerializeObject(periodoFound); //this get "Self referencing loop Exception"
the problem is when I run this script I get the horrible exception "Self referening loop exception" in the JsonConvert line, subsonic have all the objects without any problem but if I do the following.
var found = from client in newclients.All() where client.Period == "sometext" select new client{client.Name, client.LastName, etc};
string periodoJSON = JsonConvert.SerializeObject(periodoFound);
I get the object serialize with a any problem with all the properties. I'm doing the last way because I have to finish my work but is any other way or solution for this problem, if not I will have to write all the properties every time I want to get a full table properties.
hope any can solve my problem o help me in the path for find a solution....
what I have is a really basic query with linq and I try the three values for JsonSerializerSettings and any work, again I'm working with subsonic 3 this not happend either with subsnoic 2 and I can make it work if I specify one by one the properties of the object in the linq query does any have any clue of what is happend, ANY more help would be great!!! If I put the value of Serialize my page get crazy and in a infinity loop state, if I decide for error simple doesn't work and Ignore nothing happen... some more information about this self referencia loop?
var u = usuario.SingleOrDefault(x => x.TipoUsuario == "A" || x.TipoUsuario == "W");
JsonSerializerSettings setting = new JsonSerializerSettings();
setting.ReferenceLoopHandling = ReferenceLoopHandling.Error; //.Serialize .Ignore
Page.ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock(this.GetType(),"usuario", "var usuario=" + JsonConvert.SerializeObject(u, Formatting.None, setting) + ";");
Update ------
I code the following
string jsU = JsonConvert.SerializeObject(u,Formatting.None,new JsonSerializerSettings { PreserveReferencesHandling = PreserveReferencesHandling.Objects, ReferenceLoopHandling = ReferenceLoopHandling.Ignore });
and is workign but the only thing wrongs is that in the json object comes all the information about the columns of subsonic 3 and a BIG chunk of text explain it... does any one know how to not SEND this part of the object??
Without knowing more about you object model it is hard to provide a definitive answer, but I would take a look at the ReferenceLoopHandling enum.
You're calling string SerializeObject(object value) on JsonConvert. Try the string SerializeObject(object value, Formatting formatting, JsonSerializerSettings settings) method instead. The JsonSerializerSettings settings parameter lets you set a bunch of things, including the ReferenceLoopHandling ReferenceLoopHandling { get; set; } property.
You can try these values:
public enum ReferenceLoopHandling
{
Error,
Ignore,
Serialize
}
Obviously, Error is the default and that's what you're getting. Perhaps one of the others will help.
