I'm running the MVC3 RC2 with Razor in my VB.NET application. I can't for the life of me figure out why I'm getting highlight errors in my markup.

Im doing a web application in C# and ASP.NET MVC4.
On inspection of the web.config file I noticed that MVC4 has this:

So, my question is why are the assemblies not in MVC4 web.config? Or are they elsewhere?

namespaces are what you typically will now see
If you need to add in an Assembly you are free to do so.

I was working on a site in mvc4 using visual studio express 2012. Due to reasons I won't bother getting into here, I have to move the project back to mvc3 vs 2010. I have all the code moved over and compiling but when I run the project I get the following error. I have no idea what to do here. Anyone have a guess? Thanks.

Not seeing your web.config I'm not certain if this is correct. But this error message points to the webpages:config setting being incorrect. Therefore please try the following:
In your web.config change the following

</appSettings>

Penfold, thanks for trying to help. Although neither of your solutions were the fix, they pointed me in the right direction. I had a couple of blocks in my view's web.config file that were leftover from the original mvc4 and needed updated to mvc3. I started a new mvc3 project and copied over the defaults and it worked. Here's what I changed.

I'm trying to deploy an ASP.NET MVC 3 application from my development machine to another workstation. The versions of ASP.NET MVC are the same (3.0.20105), the versions of IIS are the same (7.5.7600.16385), and as far as I can tell the installed versions of the .NET framework are the identical. However, on my dev machine only the routes which hit an [Authorize] attribute actually redirect to ~/Account/Logon, but on the target machine every file I try to access redirects me to ~/Account/Logon (even when I try to access image or stylesheet assets).
I've already seen this question but it doesn't solve the problem for me :
ASP.NET MVC3 and Windows Auth on IIS keeps redirecting to /Account/Login
I've also tried adding these, but no joy :

Any other ideas?

This came down to configuration in the end. I'm still not entirely sure what the specific permission differences were, but I had to change the identity that the application pool was running under in order to get this working.
Is there a way to set up our MVC3 apps to use newer versions of Razor? I tried using NuGet, but apparently there must be some additional wiring that needs to be done because I don't see the new features such as URL Resolution and Conditional Attributes working.

Was asking on the Asp.net forums and found out that the RazorEngine on NuGet is not quite the same thing as the built-in Razor View Engine.
I've downloaded an example how we canimplement Membership Provider in Entity Framework code first from Imar Spaanjaars's blog

That example has two things that force authentication:
The default controller/action in Global.asax.cs is Home/Index. If you don't specify a controller/action in your request then it will default to Home/Index. Now check out HomeController.cs::Index
HomeController.Index has the [Authorize] attribute which requires authenticated sessions (i.e. where HttpContext.User.Identity.IsAuthenticated == true).
The only controllers/actions that allow for un-authenticated requests are Account/* and Home/About.
Remove the [Authorize] attribute from HomeController::Index and you'll get to it without requiring authentication.
