firefox kiosk mode : just 3 buttons needed - firefox

I've done the researched but I haven't found anything suitable.
I need firefox to start in so called kiosk mode that would result in :
fullscreen
no tabs
no right click
back home forward buttons
There are plugins like r-kiosk - can I configure them to display only 3 buttons that I need?
thanks

I've written a Firefox extension that does just this called Webconverger:
http://webconverger.org/kiosk/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webconverger itself is a complete browser operating system with this "kiosk mode" extension loaded by default.

Use mKiosk firefox plugin. It's a Public Firefox Kiosk Mode with optional Tabs Guides for Access Point. Complete solution. Block downloads/addon, bookmarks, reset kiosk inactivity, retry on errors, restricted interface, show favorites as buttons and more...

Use Browser is missing settings like "Private" & "NewSession" in the Modern Design

For me that's a huge step back. The new Use Browser is missing settings like Private & NewSession in the Modern Design. So it's not possible to open Chrome in private mode anymore. So currently the only workaround is to hit CTRL+SHIFT+N as Chrome shortcut:
But for me that does not sound like a good solution as browsers can swap that hotkey or having different.
So before without the Modern Design is was possible to set incognito mode in Open Browser:
So why is that feature gone in the Modern Design rework? How to get it back without the workaround and still using the Modern Design?
Private coming 21.4
New session is gone forever because it was targeting IE only, which is out of support
There is a workaround that already allows the incognito mode now in Chrome:
Add Application/Browser
Add new Chrome Application to the Object Repository (or click Indicate application ...)
Now do NOT create a screen (if the Create screen window is now opened close it)
Select the Use Browser Chrome and go to property Unified Application Target > Arguments
Type in --incognito
Click on the Burger menu of Use Browser Chrome
In the dropdown select Add Screen to Object Repository
Create the Screen now
All done. When you now check Use Browser Chrome for the Unified Application Target > Arguments it should still say --incognito.

Mozilla firefox ver 53 doesn't show "Device" option in "Responsive Design Mode"

According to this link, it should. But my Responsive Design Mode seems to be from before version 52, even though Firefox says it's version "53.0 (64-bit)"
I had this problem and although the other answers were somewhat helpful, they didn't really solve this for me. After doing additional research, this is what I found what I had to do:
Open about:config in your address bar.
In the search bar, type browser.tabs.remote.autostart
Double-click on this to change the value to true. If it was already set to true, no need to make any changes.
Right-click anywhere on the list and from the drop-down menu, choose new -> boolean
Name this 'browser.tabs.remote.force-enable'
Set its value to true.
In the search bar, type accessibility.force_disabled
If it is present and the value is 0, set it to 1.
Restart the browser
The device bar should now be present. Like so:
Credit goes to this page
At the very top of the link you posted, there's this yellow box:
This page describes Responsive Design Mode as it appears in Firefox 52
and above. To see what it's like in earlier versions of Firefox, see
Responsive Design Mode (before Firefox 52). This version of
Responsive Design Mode also requires multi-process support (e10s)
to be enabled in Firefox. If multi-process support is disabled,
you'll see the old Responsive Design Mode instead.
If you're seeing the old responsive design mode, then probably you have e10s turned off. To check if that's the case, open the about:support page and check for the Multiprocess Windows entry. It will tell you if e10s is enabled or disabled and, if the latter, why.
Go to mozilla firefox 'options' check 'Multiprocess Windows' and restart. you are done.
Addition of the comment from #Dexter; to enable the multi-process support (e10s) do the step from the #Jahmic step 1-3 and restart the firefox.
In my FF, there are 3 of them:
browser.tabs.remote.autostart
browser.tabs.remote.autostart.1
browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2
and I enable all of that. It is works for me (device option would appeared)

Open IE in kiosk mode BUT not maximized

Can we open IE in a kiosk mode - but not in a maximized view? We are trying to open an IE instance from a C#.NET app. This instance opens in a kiosk mode but disables the user to select 'OK' on the print preview pop up (as IE is maximized covering the whole screen). We want some way to open ONLY a specific page in IE (thus in kiosk mode) but not covering the full screen so that the user can choose the print options.
Alternatively is there a way to completely disable the print options and print silently using the default options?
Any ideas/suggestions?
It sounds like you're looking for the WebBrowser control, which allows you to embed IE inside your program.
I would take a look into Microsoft HTML Applications:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms536496%28VS.85%29.aspx
They are going to give a little more control over how the chrome of the application is displayed, and runs within the context of the currently logged in user.

disable or change shortcut of fullscreen mode in Firefox 3.6 due to Firebug shortcut conflict

I am using Firebug with Firefox 3.6 on OSX 10.5.8. Since FF 3.6 there is a shortcut to activate fullscreen mode which is "shift" + "command" + "F". But it is the exact same shortcut of Firebug to launch "Display Element Information".
Since i never and don't really need fullscreen mode and use extensively the "Display Element Information" feature of firebug; i am trying to either change the firebug shortcut or disable the FF shortcut.
I tried finding something when accessing about:config but could not find anything relevant.
Does anybody has a solution or hack?
cheers
Change FireFox Shortcuts:
There is an extension called KeyConfig that allows you to change the keyboard shortcuts in FireFox. You can find it at the following URL:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=72994
Change FireBug Shortcuts*:
Open the FireBug Panel
Click the FireBug icon on the top left
Select "Customize Shortcuts"
Change the shortcuts you want then restart FireFox
*Note:
I am using FireBug 1.5
I am not sure if the option you want is in the list of shortcuts you need to change.
Hope this helps.
I think the shortcut you are referring to is actually part of the Web Developer plugin, not Firebug. Firebug has a simliar "Inspect Element" function that uses Ctrl-I.
If you don't want to install yet another plugin, just to change one shortcut, then you will have to change the Web Developer shortcut to something else.
I've tried overriding this behaviour using the OSX System Preferences, creating an Application-only shortcut to the menu item: Tools->Web Developer->CSS->View Style Information, but no dice. This plug-in, while one of the most useful that I've found, has always seemed kind of shoddy. It's rarely updated, and bugs seem to live on forever. It breaks every time FF is updated. etc etc. But I still love it.
Not sure which extension is causing this for you. Just checked Web Developer Toolbar and don't see Cmd-Shift-F anywhere.
One newer feature in Firebug is the Customize Keyboard Shortcuts preferences panel on the Firebug menu. Open Firebug, click on the Firebug bug icon menu in the top left of the panel and select Customize Keyboard Shortcuts from the menu that shows up. You'll likely need a restart for these changes to take effect.
Well, now i feel very stupid !!!!
Indeed it is a shortcut from the Web Dev Toolbar and not firebug. I used these 2 so much during a day of work that i forgot they are 2 separate add-ons.
I was able to change the shortcut via the "Options" menu of the Web Dev Toolbar.
And just in case someone changes a shortcut, remember to restart FF for the changes to take effect.
mea culpa.
But thank you every one for helping.
Case closed !

Open a URL in Firefox in current tab/window from a Windows application?

I have a Windows application that works with Firefox. If Firefox is already open, I'd like to have it open a given URL in the current tab+window as is currently showing. Our application tends to open a lot of URLs and reusing the same browser window makes the most sense. I already have a COM application that works with Internet Explorer, but haven't been able to find something similar for an external application to work with Firefox.
The only way I know of to do this in Firefox is to set the browser.link.open_newwindow preference to 1. Unfortunately this also stops all in-page links from opening a new tab or window.
If you use SeaMonkey as your default browser then you can use the Preferences window under Tabbed Browsing or Link Behaviour to make links from external applications open in the current tab.
