I have an issue with Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate and Visual Studio 2010 Express, when I right click on a project structure in the solution explorer, (on the references folder) and select "Add Reference" the Visual Studio 2010 window flashes as focus as left the window and then focus immediately returns and there is no new window that allows me to add references. This problem persists even after a clean install, and across multiple products (VS 2010 Ultimate and VS 2010 Express) I am using windows 7, and I have to think this problem ids outside of VS 2010, but this is the only issue I am currently facing.
Its like the references window (that allows you to pick the new reference) is automatically being closed.
Thanks.
I just had the same problem.
Do you have a tablet that you're using? If you enable the Tablet PC Input Service it should work again. There seem to be some dependencies on this service and/or conflicts with my Wacom drivers that caused the issue in the first place.

Add Reference or existing item popup is not show then answer is :
Window Button +R then type "services.msc" > search "Tablet PC Input Service" and the right Click on Start.
it will work correctly.

I am new to Visual Studio IDE and struggling with a simple problem of clearing app data from the cache when I build a new instance of the app in the debugger and run it. Most emulators like those in android studio and eclipse have a simple way of rebuilding the app from scratch in the emulator so that all previous data gets wiped, but I haven't been able to find a way to do this in Visual Studio 2015.
Though still unable to find a way from within Visual Studio to clear the app cache, the app gets installed on the windows machine itself when running from Visual Studio and then remains resident on the computer, thus one can uninstall it from windows itself and this clears the app data so that the next time it is run from Visual Studio, it is a fresh install.
You can find the menu that allows you to wipe data (like the one you have when using Android Studio instead of visual studio) by clicking on "Open Android Emulator Manager" (you might have to add this as a menu button ), and the selection the virtual device to launch, press "Start" and the dialog box with the option to "Wipe data" appears
I recently moved to a new PC, and my visual studio is now showing all variables in some sort of memory address mode. Normally I would just see the simple properties and values. I can't figure out how to turn this off and get the standard view.

Aw dude, so simple:
Close all instances of Visual Studio
Right-click on the Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 shortcut and go to its Properties
Go to the Compatibility tab and uncheck "Run this program in compatible mode for:" and say Apply
Now start Visual Studio and open the project. You should be able to debug it.
I was using VS 2012 in Windows 7. Yesterday, I installed Windows 8 and installed Visual Studio 2013.
And i can not use Ctrl-Shift-V keys for Cycle Clipboard Ring. I have tried to assume manually Ctrl-Shift-V keys for Cycle Clipboard Ring in Tools\Options\Keyboard menu. Still not working.
[SOLVED]- I have tried it in Design Window. It works fine in Code window.
Open up the Visual Studio Keyboard settings and make sure that the binding is setup correctly. You might have accidentally selected a different template the fist time you launched Visual Studio.
In my C# 2005 bindings, it's available. You might have to reset the mapping scheme and restart Visual Studio.
There might be a add-on, like Resharper that's interfering with the keybindings.
The same story on Win7 and VS2013.
In my case helped only removing ReSharper.ReSharper_PasteMultiple shortcut.
Thanks to the thread:
Visual Studio: ctrl+shift+v opens clipboard ring window I've coped with that.
ReSharper had been turned off nonetheless I had to totally remove the ReSharper's shortcut repeatedly pressing "Remove" (it was switching stacked values).
vsjitdebugger gets more annoying when i switched to windows 7. :(
i'm a commandline person (vim, msbuild and vsjitdebugger) when developing .NET. I'm looking for a better vsjitdebugger alternative that automatically attaches the application to visual studio (or any application that is less annoying than vsjitdebugger.)
TIA :)
From here
To begin Just-In-Time debugging when
an error occurs
In the Just-In-Time Debugging dialog
box, in the Possible Debuggers list,
click New instance of Visual Studio
2010 or click an instance of Visual
Studio 2010 that is already running.
To use Visual Studio automatically for
all future crashes, click Set the
currently selected debugger as the
default.
If you want to choose what types of
code you will be able to debug, click
Manually choose the debugging engines.
If you do not choose this option,
Visual Studio automatically selects
the appropriate debug engines for the
type of code in your program.
Click OK.
I am programming via Visual Studio 2008. I change my html page and save it using Ctrl + S and then hit Ctrl+F5 on the browser to test it. My problem is when I save my file in VS after refreshing the browser, "Save File As" dialog appears and when I want to save it with that file name, an error dialog appears which says file exists!!!. I am doing this every time in my company which uses Windows 2003 and Windows XP, but there I have no problem. At home I am using Windows 7, and this error is killing me.
I had the same problem
My C# projects were all under XPsp3
I installed Win7, then Vis Studio 8 SP1 and the rest of my development tools.
Opened up my C# projects and got the Save As problem. , try this, it worked for me.
Make sure you are running Visual Studio as an Adminstrator.
To do this, create a Desktop Short cut for Visual Studio 2008.
Right click on it, and select Properties.
Then select the Compatibility tab.
At the bottom under Priviledge Level, make sure Run the program as an adminstrator is checked.
Select the OK button.
Start Vis Studio again
Also, try this
1) Open the Visual Studio command prompt
2) Then run the following : devenv /ResetSettings.
Using VS 2008 Express SP1 under Vista I had the same problem. I was running IE9 and it's debugger. Closing IE9 debugger allowed the save. This typically did not happen.
