I have 2 views that show the content of 2 CCK content types.
When the user clicks an item of the first view I would like to filter the content of the second view by filtering for the selected item in the first view, all on the same page (using ajax, I believe).
How can I do a similar thing? Should I also use panels?

I want to make a sidebar list so when the user click on the item all the information that related to this item is viewed in a specific area in the same page , and its the same for all items, what is the best way to do that ( AJAX pagination or normal JQuery ) or there is another way to do that?!
The best way to do that is using Extending Views it allows you to warp one view to another .Combining this with view blocks gives you a
powerful way to keep your views DRY.

I would kindly ask for your help :) From couple of days I am trying to achieve "linked" custom field in content editor and dropdown in page editor.
Basically I want to have dropdown in page editor and content editor which are responsible for a same thing.
In my c# code i have enums which represent directions. I created custom field which accepts assembly and class with overridden onload method and successfully populate dropdown values in the content editor. So far so good but i have no idea how to create dropdown which will represent the same functionality inside page editor.
So please give me any ideas...
Judging from your reply to my comment you need to think of the following: How is my field value being rendered onto a page?
If you are always using 1 control to do this then you just need to ensure that this control has 2 different rendering modes depending on the Context.PageMode
But as I understand it you want this dropdown to also appear when someone renders your custom field using a <sc:FieldRenderer>. In this case you'll need to look into the RenderField pipeline of Sitecore. There you find a processor called RenderWebEditing. Possibly through some manipulation here you can get your dropdown appear as you wish.
I have a C#.NET MVC3 web app. I have a View that has a List of Models. This list can be long, requiring the user to scroll down on the View. When selecting one of the models in the View to Edit, the user is taken to the Edit View. After submitting the Edit View, the user is redirected back to the List View. However, the List View is now displaying back at the top of the list. How can I redirect the user back to the same position in the List View where they clicked the Edit button?
You would probably be better suited using a modal popup dialog to edit the data, rather than navigating to another page.
While it's possible to do what you want, it's a pain. You would have to get the scroll location via javascript, save it to a hidden field, post that to your edit page, along with record number and anything else, then re-post it back to your original page when you return, then read the post value and scroll to it via javascript.
All that is avoided if you just use a modal edit dialog, then when the dialog goes away the page is still in the same place.
I am new to ASP.NET MVC and I have a question regarding viewing entity relationships.
Say I have an entity called 'Person'. This holds the usual data relating to a person (Name, Email, etc). I also have a 'Notes' entity. Under EF, a 'Person' can have many 'Notes'.
I have a Person controller where I can view and preform CRUD operations on a Person object.
I can show the notes in the view easily but what is the best way to allow a user to add/edit/delete these notes from the Person view? I am hoping to do this using AJAX and not have the user move to a completely different page to add/edit/delete a note.
Thanks in advance,
ViperMAN.
When they edit a note, popup a jQuery dialog pointing to your URL to edit or have a separate Ajax.BeginForm() on the page that the details go into. When they finish the edit call a method to refresh the notes.
So:
1. In your Notes grid (or whatever)
you have an edit link for each note called "edit"
this link looks something like the following:
This one actually uses 'notes' : )

ASP.NET MVC modal dialog/popup best practice
Also beware of this scenario for multiple links:
MVC3 - Only first row link works well with Jquery Modal Dialog
Now the urls you use to populate the dialogs would be for example
/Note/Edit/10
One thing to note - jQuery validation needs to know about these new items that are being loaded via ajax into the DOM , so in your partial view you need to tell jQuery validation to include the new items - I'll edit in a bit to add this, have to grab it from another machine.
I have one view page in MVC named as ‘Index’. There are 3 main controls in that view page. For better understanding, take below example as reference.
1. One Dropdown ‘Customer’
2. One Dropdown ‘Project’ (that depends on ‘Customer’)
3. List of Task (that depends on ‘Project’).
Currently first user needs to select ‘Customer’. So based on customer ‘Project’ dropdown data will be fetched from post method of Index and bind that ‘Project’ dropdown. After selecting ‘Project’, List of task will be fetch from post method of Index and bind those tasks. So every time page is loaded again.I want to do it by Ajax form submit.
My problem – those 3 controls are in one view page so I want to return page view using Ajax without using Partial View. Is this possible? If yes then how? Or any other solution so that I am able to display data without reload whole page again.
If u can give me example of such scenario then it will be good.
