Trying to restore a SQL database on a test system, but can't because a Uniface service keeps connecting to it. Looks like Uniface 9.4.
Having trouble finding much documentation on this venerable old Uniface platform. Does it have a service name in Windows? Or does it run as a lower-level process?
Any pointers to documentation greatly appreciated
Revoke all permission from all users except a newly created system user. Now connect using that user and kill all other running connections/sessions. You can continue doing maintenance work. After that restore permission.
Should work on any SQL database.
Stop the uniface urouter service and that will stop the uniface application servers and prevent any client processes from connecting. Once done, restart the urouter. I am making a few assumptions about your setup, so if this fails to help, take the ungraceful approach of killing the following processes (uniface.exe, idf.exe, userver.exe). If you have uniface flow installed and running, there are other processes to stop too, but for now, I will assume you are not running that.

In my organization a project has begun to install SCCM on every computer. My job is to filter out computers which do not have SCCM installed on them (that part is done), find out why and try to install.
Unfortunately, I’m inexperienced with SCCM logs and find it hard to locate the problems (if there are any) and there is a huge number of devices I have to check all by myself and accessing each computer’s C$ will take years.
The OS of the problematic computers are Windows 10/7/XP/Server 2016.
Can anyone help me with these issues please?

The client install logs on the local machine are here C:\Windows\ccmsetup\Logs. You could script something to pull the logs and dump on a network share.
You can pull the CMTrace.exe from the server install directory to read the logs.
They are most likely failing for the same reason, I would start with looking at the firewall and make sure WinRM is enabled.

I am facing an issue while installing oracle client.
Currently,There are no Oracle services running. When i start installing Oracle Client it abruptly closes, and when i check the services.msc I can see "oracleremexecservice" running, which does not have option to stop (tried to even force stop the service, did not work).
So i deleted the service from the registry and rebooted the system."oracleremexecservice" vanished.
Once again I start to install the Oracle client, installation fails and "Oracleremexecservice" gets created again and is running.
Can anybody help me to solve this? I deleted oracleremexecservice from registry and temp folder, Am i missing anything? I need to delete this oracleremexecservice permanently from my system in order to complete the installation.

This happens when I attempt to stop the service installed using InstallUtil from this location: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\InstallUtil.exe
I am attempting to debug the windows service in question. My problem is that everytime I attempt to introduce changes to the codebase, the computer "A physical machine - Dell Precision T3500" requires that I restart the entire machine to completely uninstall the service, before I do a reinstall.
I have looked at this Link and it is not helpful in my scenario as I would first have to stop the service to be able to gain full access to the location where my build is generated to.
Whilst the service is attempting to restart before I do the restart of PC, when I attempt to build the service from my code, I get this interesting error from the compiler:
Error 16 Unable to copy file

Because of the error above I also think this is why I am not able to use the SO solution from here.
Does anyone have a clever idea for me to go through to bypass having to restart the machine as I debug and make changes to my codebase?
I also had a look at this link from SO but it has no marked solution, I also tried one of the Microsoft forums for a solution but it too has no applicable solution as they recommend the restart which I am trying to avert.
I feel so silly after finding this solution. I should most certainly have used the KISS principle for this one.
Turns out, all I had to do was look for the service's process from task manager and simply end the task. After that a refresh to my services list shows the service status as blank, meaning it has completely stopped without a restart of the machine.
I have Informix version 11.50 installed on my Windows machine. According to this link, in order to start the server, it should be done through Windows services, look for Informix IDS - instance_name. It is supposed to start when Windows is started up, but for my case it is not, and it wasn't started. Thus I start it up manually by double clicking on it, and it prompt me an error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a
timely fashion.
May I know is there any solution in order to start up the local Informix DB on windows?
You will have to check what went wrong in Informix log. It is located in Informix dir and has server name with .log extension (for example c:\informix\ol_test.log). In this file there is information about running server like:
12:42:36 IBM Informix Dynamic Server Started.
Check this file and give us more details if you will not know how to solve reported problems.
Installation of Informix in Windows Vista has been failed. Due to the reason this Informix thing is not able to uninstall and not even allow me to configure a database. Even though I have manually delete the whole folder from Program Files, when trying to install a new copy of Informix, it prompt me the "Invalid ISV name" thing which I totally running out of clue with.
I found a post mention that Vista is not a good platform for Informix. Forget about Windows as a Server a.k.a. WAAS.

First, I guess I'd have to figure out if I'm running remotely and second I'd have to figure out whether my remote connection is a standalone remote app or an app running on a terminal server (that may be tricky).
But, once I've figured out all those awful things, is there a way to run a windows function like ShellExecute locally instead of remotely?
The reason I'd want to do this is because I launch a web browser to view rather high bandwidth things that require javascript and flash and certain sysadmins who administer our product aren't too keen on having to make unnecessary and insecure modifications to their terminal server farm.
