WampServer Hosting - hosting

about 6 months ago I got into coding, and I've always wanted to start my own game just for fun on the side.
I have wampserver on my computer, and was wondering if that server could publicly host things on the internet?

You need to:
Make sure your server is available on the internet. If you have a router or firewall you may need to open it up.
If you want to have a domain name you need to register that.
If your ISP can give you a static IP address then ask for that.
Whether you have a static IP or a dynamic one then you can use a service such as DynDNS to link the domain name to the IP address.

Yes, you can use your WAMPserver to allow people to publicly access your site.
From some quick googling, I didn't find any instructions, just that it was possible.

I just put a wamp server up on a box in my house just for funsies.
Here is a wampserver forum post with links to the info you seek.
Here is the basic rundown though:
Open up your router to port 80 and forward it to the box you are serving on.
Get setup on a DNS server, I used freedns.afraid.org.
In wamp you are gonna set apache to use virtual hosts (this is in the link).
After that you should be cool.

create php web service and access to the internet

I have recently installed PHP, MySQL Server, and Apache web server. I played around with some PHP scripts locally on the PC to insert some entries to MySQL Database.
Noob question so please be patient with me:
How do I get my web service out to the internet, by self hosting? Say I already have a domain for example mydomain.com How do I make it so that when someone not within my network can access mydomain.com/something and can send some data so my server gets it and do anything with that data?
Webhosting
You have to have some form of webhosting. You pay for hosting and you can upload your PHP files to their servers. They will usually also have database servers you can use.
Your domain name has to point to those servers via DNS so the internet can reach your application. I'd suggest you search the internet for popular hosts that provide the tools your need for this.
Self hosting
Another possibility is to open your network up to the world, but this is not recommended unless you have network administration experience due the security trouble that comes with it.
In short: forward a port through your router to the machine running your application. The website portforward.com has instructions on how to do this but keep in mind that misconfiguration could lead to vulnerabilities in your network.
In order to make you site public
1. you need host
2. you need domain
there are bunch of hosting sites you should get one first.
This link explains very well about self hosting

how to access xampp server from internet using dynamic ip address

I have installed xampp server on my windows 7.
I am connecting internet using HUAWEI Dongle.
I don't have any static IP address.i Want to access my php file from internet example I have connected to internet now I have dynamic IP address like 100.101.73.240 if some one enter 100.101.73.240/home.php in his browser address bar then my home.php page should open in his browser.
What should I do for this give me step by step guide.
Local Ip can't work over the internet. It's your intranet network. If you have dynamic internet IP, then you simply configure the Dynamic DNS service. Which you can configure your Internet Router with the following settings (provided by the Dynamic DNS service providers).
dyn.com
noip.com
dynu.com
many more.
Thanks
If you want to share IP with someone from your local area network:
Go to cmd, run ipconfig command, and find your local IP, which should be like 192.168.xxx.yyy. You can easily share it with no worries it will change each time you reset your network.
If it's someone from external network:
You have no power to share your external IP if you have dynamic one, it will change too often, but still it should work for a short connection sessions. To obtain a stable address you would have to register a domain

Map my domain name with my own server

Hi I am having my own domain mydomain.ac.in and i am having my own server (windows 2008) and a Public static IP.
Now i want to host my site in my own server.
Please give me the step by step information to get it done.
Thanks.
You need to register your domain with some DNS hosting service (DNS provider), there is such an astronomic number of these on the web that I do not want to spam the site. Google.
Also, collocation center where you keep this server (and from where you have probably obtained that public IP) may also provide DNS services.
From the other side, any computer can be configured as the name server but this will probably not work Internet wide and can be used inside the local network only (combined with DHCP service). If there is an easy way to make this Internet wide, I would also be very interested in, but I doubt.
Your operating system is not much relevant to this question.
I registered my domain already in ernet by indian Government and I got my Public Static IP from BSNL India. I hosted my site already and i am able to access my site already using the ip. Now i want to map my domain with the server that i have so that i can access my domain using a domain name.
I tried the steps in http://www.hosting.com/support/dedicated/dns/setdns#additional.. But when i add the name server information it says cannot resolve hostname??? that s why i want to know where i am making mistake..
I once again tried the steps at http://www.hosting.com/support/dedicated/dns/setdns and got it right..Now i have updated the name server info at my domain registrar ernet and waiting for it to be updated. Thanks fo the people helped me

HIding behind a proxy did not seem to work?

I often visit various sites and like to do so anonymously from behind a proxy. However, it seems as if some websites are still able to detect my real IP address. I know this because they use the IP address to attempt to geolocate me for services.
How did they actually get my real IP Address if I am using a proxy?
How can I truly hide myself?
Most proxies you'll find online are so-called 'transparant proxies'. This means they identify themselves as proxy and even give your real IP-address to the site.
These proxies are commonly used to load pages on the proxy-server instead of your PC.
IP proxies won't protect you at all, to be honest.
What you need are VPN's (Virtual Private Networks) a.k.a. Network Tunnel.
VPN's allow you to do everything online via an external PC inside that network. You'll get that PC's IP and all loading etc happens on that PC.
Not all VPN's are undetected. If you always want to browse the web anonymously, you'll need to find some HQ VPN's (barely for free) and you'll need to change VPN frequently.
Try searching on HideMyAss, SecurityKISS, ... or maybe even the TOR-network

Viewing Mac Localhost on a network PC

I am developing some websites on my Mac (Standard LAMP setup, with PHP5, Using Remy Sharp's LAMP setup instructions). I can see these sites locally by going to (eg http:// apple.dev).
I was just wondering how I view these sites on a connected network PC.
I have tried:
http:// MY-IP-ADDRESS/~MYUSERNAME/apple.dev
But this just returns the file directory structure for the website.
I can see the default webpage by just going to:
http:// MY-IP-ADDRESS/~MYUSERNAME/
Am I doing anything wrong or do I need to do anything else?
I have enabled web sharing
Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.
It sounds like you have a server alias setup for this site already. In which case the answer is pretty simple. Just edit the hosts file on your pc and enter the ip of your pc together with the server alias in the usual fashion, e.g.
xxx.xxx.xx.xx apple.dev
Where xxx.xxx.xx.xx = your mac's ip address, as found in web sharing.
If this is done, then your pc should find the site when you browse to that alias in its web browser.
