When using the scrollTo function (a member of the slideView object), is it possible to pass in an animation as well so that I can control the speed of the scrolling and other pertinent variables?
If not, what other options do I have?
Are you talking about a tableView.scrollToIndex in which the second property is the animation.
Or are you talking about scrollView.scrollTo in which the properties are x, y? If it's this one then I don't believe there is a way to animate it using the scrollTo method.

So I have a laser pointer attached to my controller, shooting rays and triggering events whenever I press the tigger.
Tho it still has one or two buggs (Unity VR Controller UI Interaction), I have a more general question.
The UI needs some kind of slider. And I can't figure out how to make my pointer collide with the slider and behave in a slider-ish way. When I press my button, it currently ends up setting the slider to zero and not letting me drag it.
Thankful for any tipps on how to make them actually slide, since my ridgidbody-cube doesnt move and doesn't allow movement! Unitys documentation on e.g. the beginDragHandler isn't really helpful...

If your enter/exit events already works, juste check the x (or the axis corresponding on your slider) of your "laser" every frame or so, and increase/decrease the value of the slider based on the delta between two check.
Hope it is clear, it should not be hard if you already have your events sets up !
I need Modal Page appears with "slide from bottom and cover (NOT push) current page" transition.

I have kinda hacky stuff, wrapping my elements with AbsoluteLayout and give it a high top value like '800',
and in navigatedTo function make transition animation with the negative value of the top attribute. In your case you would use left attribute and make transition over x.
Another solution that looks better in the UI, adding a custom component that would act as your modal, wrap your page elements with AbsoluteLayout, add your custom component when you need to show your modal, and apply the previous animation hack to it.
Tip: You can set the actionBarHiddin = true if you want to your custom component to overlay the full screen.
Tip: async/await and then would be very useful for the smoothing matters.
How's the page scrolling created on flashvhtml.com? How is the scrolling triggered by the links at the top and how the other 'sub animation' events tied in to the scrolling background?
This is what I have been able to gather:
Listeners for interactions are added in the Trackpad.js file. Listeners for events such as mouse dragging, keyboard events, touch etc. All of which calculating a value variable.
This value variable of the Trackpad.js is then
used to adjust camera position in the update method of main.js
file.
There are 3 main views that are being rendered if I understand
it correctly: ScrollView, ScaleView, RocketView. All of those
initiated inside the init method of main.js. But they are all
defined in the fvh.js file.
Each of these three views have an
updatePosition method taking camera.y or mainScrollPosition as
parameter. These updatePosition methods are called inside of the
same update method of main.js file.
Then there is a ScrollMap.js which contains loads of position data for all 3 views e.g. it contains ScrollView data in the format of:
mcxxx:{view:'nameofelement',depth:xx,startFrame:xxx,endFrame:xxx,position:[xxx,...]} etc.
Also there is a sectionLandPositions variable defined in the main.js file which is also very interesting because this is what is then used inside the onMenuItemPressed method in the same file to tween and bring a certain section into view.
So magic basically happens in the updatePosition methods of each views and how the value is computed in the Trackpad.js. And this is where I leave you to debug further and take it home. :)
Files under scrutiny are: Trackpad.js, fvh.js, ScrollMap.js, main.js. Hope you find it all useful.

An easy way to do this, is by adding tweens and then using the scroll/drag input and links to move around in the tween's timeline.
Tween one : Pans Camera down slowly continuously.
Tween two : Wait's until x, fades sprite in untily y, fades sprite out, ..
Make sure, you dont 'play' the tween's after creating them, but adjust the time manually (based on the scroll position).
There are a few tweeing frameworks you can use for pixi: Greensocks, Impact, tween.js
And there's a discusion on it over at the html5gamedevs forum.
I am new to Windows Phone Programming. In my application, I Have a listbox which lists the phone contacts. Currently it is listed as a regular list with equal size for list items in the UI.I am looking to modify the front end like this :
I dont want to have different sizes /back ground color for each list items rather a fixed UI and let the lists scroll through it and the list item in the view, at any time, should be displayed as in the picture.
I dont expect any codes as answers but any examples are welcome too, just want to know using what feature this kind of functionality is possible so that i can do my reading!

It would be difficult to modify an existing control (ListBox for example) to act like this, so your best bet would probably be an ItemsControl with its RenderTransform set as a TranslateTransform.
If you place a Rectangle (with Fill="Transparent") over the ItemsControl, you can attach handlers to the ManipulationStarted, ManipulationDelta, and ManipulationCompleted events to control the "scrolling" by setting the TranslateTransform's Y offset.
To resize the items in the list there are two options: a custom panel or manual setting.
Custom Panel
You could create a custom Panel implementation that will appropriately resize its Children based on a property you would create to represent the scroll position. Set the ItemsControl to use your panel, and either through binding or attaching a handler to the panel's Loaded event and keeping a pointer to the panel, update the aforementioned property from inside the ManipulationDelta handler.
Manual Setting
From inside of the ManipulationDelta handler, you can also calculate the various heights of the boxes and use MyItemsControl.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromIndex to get the visual for each item and set its height.
I would suggest putting this all inside of a custom UserControl.
You may have issues with clipping using the TranslateTransform but hopefully this will get you started. Unfortunately, this looks like a rather difficult control to try making as your first windows phone project!
So Finally I did manage to find a way to do it.
First approach was as #Murkaeus suggested, Using UserControl and ManipulationDelta event handler. However for some reason the manipulationDelta event was triggered only for 2 finger gestures (Zoom, Pinch..etc), I have no clue why. And after some trying I had to give up on this.
The next approach was using Listbox itself. The source of the Listbox was set as the List( of Models objects) that I create after reading the contact information from phone. The height and color of the listbox item was bound to a property in my model named "scaleLevel" and was accordingly converted by implementing IValueConvertors to give predefined color and height values for different scale levels.
I created an attached property for the scrollviewer vertical offset like mentioned [here] (http://www.scottlogic.co.uk/blog/colin/2010/07/exposing-and-binding-to-a-silverlight-scrollviewer%E2%80%99s-scrollbars/)!
This event is triggered on change of the vertical offset and every time there is a scroll, I find out which listbox item to be enlarged and which reduced based current vertical offset.
Once I have this information, I change the property ("scaleLevel") of the affected items in the List (of Model) (which is bound to listbox height and color). This change is updated in UI using the INotifyPropertyChanged Event.
I have no idea if this the best way of doing it , but it works well and there is no considerable in updating the UI despite the processing involved.
I would like to hear your opinion about the implementation and any other solution which you feel will work better.
I'm currently putting the final touches on a project.
A lot (if not all) of the UI logic currently relies on Cocoa Bindings.
Some of the user interface elements (labels, buttons, etc.) have their "Hidden" bindings defined. When certain events are triggered, these elements visibility is toggled.
I'm trying to animate the visibility change (by animating the opacity and maybe even the scale). This could easily be accomplished in a number of ways, either by setting the relevant layer properties, adding the animations to the layer, etc. However, since I'm trying to totally rely on the bindings behavior I "can't" really do this directly.
I tried an implementation using Layer actions, by defining actions for the keys kCAOnOrderIn and kCAOnOrderOut on the relevant elements, but it really didn't work, as the setHidden: is most likely being triggered on the NSView instead of the CALayer -- which makes sense.
So, my question is: how would you animate setHidden: on a NSView, when setHidden: is being invoked by the Cocoa Bindings.

Animating setHidden will have no visual effect since it's either on or off. If you want to animate visibility, use setAlpha (or setOpacity on the layer) instead. These take a value between 0.0 and 1.0. If you need the hidden flag to get set for the sake of state information, call -performSelector:withObject:afterDelay passing it a selector that sets the hidden value to whatever you need it to be after the animation has completed. Alternatively you can set up a delegate for explicit animation to be called back when the animation finishes and call setHidden then.
I would suggest taking a look at NSViewAnimation. It takes any NSView and can animate the frame, size or visibility.
