I'm having some trouble with the firefox and ie cache, on my website the user can make a query with a form, and this query returns a picture, but depending on which radio button is selected, it'll return a different picture, and it works just like that on chrome, but in IE and firefox, the same image is always returned, it only changes when i reopen the browser, can you guys give me some light on how to make this work?

Not sure the language you are using to code with, but regardless I am sure the strategy will work across the board. I pass an arbitrary value in the query string, something like a GUID or the datetime stamp. This will force a fresh load as the URL will be unique.
I use ASP.NET MVC which I then set a optional parameter in my route, which the controller method ignores. I then set my URL via JavaScript:

$('.thumbnail').attr('src', $('.thumbnail').attr('src') + d.getTime());
The solution I needed was unique, so this is probably not similar to what you are trying to resolve. However, it should get the point across.

Given a unique can be the solution, but you have to watch the length in the string can keep growing, now, you can use this option at the begining of your code
$.ajaxSetup({ cache: false });
this will disable caching.

I am using ruby and capybara(which leverages selenium) to automate walking through a website. After navigating to a new page I verify that the new page URL is what i'm expecting. My issue comes when I walk through an order funnel that is a single page but loads different views.

I create my session instance then have additional code opening the browser and walking to a certain point in the website that I wont include

This code works fine when my URL is

Then I click on a link that takes me to my order funnel ... https://www.homepage.com/order#/orderpage1?option1=something&option2=somethingelse
My function still matches the expected URL. But the issue comes when I move to the second page of the order funnel :
https://www.homepage.com/order#/orderpage2?option1=something&option2=somethingelse
My capybara code to get current url still returns the URL from orderpage1. Im guessing its because there is no postback when moving from orderpage1 to orderpage2 but i dont know how to force a postback or tell capybara to re-grab the url
Any advice will be appreciated.

Quick Edit: I forgot to mention this behavior is only in IE. Chrome and Firefox both work correctly with the exact same code
Capybara grabs the current_url by querying the browser - it doesn't cache it. The issue you're probably running into is that clicking the link to move to the next page doesn't wait for the page change to happen, so if you call current_url before the page load has happened you'll still get the original url. There are two solutions for that - 1. use capybara to look for content that doesn't appear until the new page is loaded ( have_content ), 2. use the has_current_path? method which will wait/retry for a period of time until the current_path/url match
$session.has_current_path?('expected path')
There are options if you want to match against the full url, and you can use a regex to match as well - http://www.rubydoc.info/gems/capybara/Capybara/SessionMatchers#has_current_path%3F-instance_method

Just to be clear, in the subject line, it says "words/images". The "words" part is not about clearing the words in the form, but rather the word "required". As for images, these are validation images, like the green checkmark.
I just realized that I had no clue how to clear words/images upon form completion in AngularJS. Basically, the checkmark stays, and the word "required" appears after submitting the validated form. It does so, because now the form is empty. I tried using the $setPristine in the script page,

knowing that it would probably not work. I looked for a workaround, so I checked out this impressive thread (but realized this was more for the validation itself and not added words/images).

Then I tried using this code which I had used prior to today for the pre-validation. Or if you will, for the live validation, before submitting the form. I thought I could recycle this, but no.

That looked so dirty, but thought it could work after pushing the data in. But the image stayed there (as you can see, I tried replacing the checkmark with a cross instead, as I did not want to create a blank pic).
I also googled it, but everything I could find had to do with two things: clearing the form AND removing the coloured frame (red/green). of course, my form already does that. So, I'm still trying to find a way to remove the word "required" and the gif image in my form upon successful validation.
In any case, I created a plunker. You'll have to click on the word "Reviews" to show the form.

Have a look at the directives ng-show and ng-hide.
You can set $scope.allGood = true; somewhere in your controller (after validation) and use this directive: <span ng-hide="allGood">Required</span>

You might also want to look at the ng-class directive. Example:
<span ng-class="{green: allGood == 1}">Name:</span> and obviously style the class green to your needs.
I'm just working on a little webservice. Therefore I am using an AJAX call and append my data to a table on my website. Here I can read and update already existing entries or write new entries. Everything works fine.
I want to have the possibility to update already existing with the wysihtml5 editor. I already integrated this editor on my website and I can use it on new entries. That works, too.
But now there's the problem with existing data. When it comes to the form to update data, I want the existing data being displayed as the value. Everything works fine on all inputs, just the wysihtml5 don't work.
I already know that there's an iframe and that's why I can't set the value of the textarea. I searched for a solution and found the following code (last line):

I finally got it working by myself. I just change the second parameter of setValue to false. I don't know why, but it works then.

I am trying to use CodeIgniter and jQuery-ui dialog to create a modal window with form to update user information.
The process should be like:
1. Press a button on a view page.
2. A modal window pops up.
3. Inside the window is a form that a user can fill.
4. If the user filled something before, the information should be shown in corresponding field
5. Click the update button on the modal window to save the changes to database.
Can anyone provide a good sample of this process?
I used ajax to pass the data but it didn't work when I was trying to update the data to the database. It would be nice if an example of how to pass data from ajax to php and how php handle that.

well the jquery bit for post(), get(), ajax() works the same in any measure you would normally use it.. key difference here is with CI you can't post directly to a file-name file-location due to how it handles the URI requests. That said your post URL would be the similar to how you would access a view file normally otherwise
ie: /viewName/functionName (how you've done it with controllers to view all along. post, get, ajax doesnt have to end in a extension. I wish I had a better example then this but I can't seem to find one at the moment..

in the case of the above you notice despite it not being a great example that. you have the url with 2 parameters home and specialFunction
home in this case is the controller file for home in the control folder for the home file in views the specialFunction is a "public function" within the class that makes the home controller file. similar to that of index() but a separate function all together. Best way I have found to handle it is through .post() and a callback output expected in JSON cause you can form an array of data on the php side json_encode it and echo out that json_encode and then work with that like you would any JSON output. or if your just expecting a sinlge output and not multiples echoing it out is fine but enough of the end run output thats for you to decide with what your comfortable doing currently. Hopefully all around though this gives you some clairity and hopefully it works out for you.
I'm trying to add a URL parameter within a Spring MVC application. It's a basic search page that shows results.
In the search page, there is a form that is set to POST. There are many hidden fields and other fields I don't want in the URL. So, I don't want to do a GET.
I do want the search query in the URL. So after clicking the search button, the resulting search results page needs to have a URL like /search?query=hello
To get it to work, I'm creating a RequestMapping method in the Spring MVC Controller and doing a redirect: tacking on the query parameter. However, I'm not sure using a redirect is the best answer, seems there could be performance concerns redirecting as well.
I looked around and noticed folks using javascript and the location object, but setting the location object obviously relaunches the URL you set it to. I also looked at the HTTPServletResponse & HTTPServletRequest objects, but couldn't find much.
Any thoughts on how I can force the search parameter to be added to the URL?
Your form will have an 'action' specified telling it where to POST to. I'd have thought you could attach an onclick event to your submit button (or an onsubmit event to your form) that updates the action url by appending "?query=" to it.

Then you just have to worry about someone posting your form without JavaScript enabled - in this case you could fall back to your redirect.
I don't know how the server technology so I can't say if it will be happy giving you both GET and POST parameters, if not you'll have to manually strip the GETs out of the URL.
But anyway, this seems like a rather odd situation to be in - is it really that big a deal to show the parameters in the URL? Anything that gets posted by an HTML form can still be inspected with the right tools, it's just ever so slightly more difficult.
I wanted to provide a more complete answer to my question with code. The previous user helped me down this path, so I'll keep it as the accepted answer. However, there is one item to note:
If you add on to the action, and you have an input text box with the same name, the page posts a duplicate value like: query=hello,hello.
So, I needed to remove the name on the input box, and use the following javascript. Note, I am using the prototype.js framework:
