jquery.validate - multiple plugins with same name? - jquery-validate

multiple plugins with same name?
I started my search for a jquery validation with a google search. The top few links lead to confusion because one page on the jquery site is a plugin authored by mfranz whereas another link leads to a plugin authored by Jörn Zaefferer which is linked from jquery.com to an offsite domain.

The latter link is the official plugin from JQuery. That can be downloaded here:
http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-validation/
or you can use CDN
http://ajax.aspnetcdn.com/ajax/jquery.validate/1.8/jquery.validate.js
http://ajax.aspnetcdn.com/ajax/jquery.validate/1.8/jquery.validate.min.js
The other link looks like it started in 2010, whereas JQuery Validate is there since 2006

Auto post from joomla article to Instagram?

we want an auto publisher , whenever an joomla article is published, automatically publishes the article data such as title, image, description etc, on the Instagram. If this possible or not?
Yes this is possible with a content - plugin. You can use the onContentAfterSave event to do that.
Within this very callback you get the Article as parameter, so you can access all details of it, to create the webservice call.
There are some more events which plugins can listen to. Joomla Plugins are pretty simple to develop, basically they consist of an describing xml and a php file and you can find documentation here. To get started you should have a look at an existing content plugin (/plugins/content/*).
The actual call to instagram can be done using curl.
Looking out for an Instagram api, I found that: github.com/cosenary/Instagram-PHP-API and instagram.com/developer. I hope that can help you with the webservice call.
There is an extension in JED that will lessen your burden of coding. You can have a look at it here http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/extension/social-web/social-display/jfbconnect . Remember thats a Paid extension.

In Jekyll, how can I generate year pages?

I'd like to be able to automatically generate by-year archive pages for every year in my blog history. That is, if I have at least one post from 2014, I'd like to be able to generate /archive/2014/index.html, and if I have at least one post from 2013, I'd like it to generate the page /archive/2013/index.html. Is there a way to do that in Jekyll?
Jekyll doesn't provide that feature by default. However, one of the most common plugins is jekyll-archives that is capable to generate post archives by dates, tags, and categories.
However, just keep in mind that this plugin is not supported if you are using GitHub pages as explained here. Actually, in the post itself you can see it is really hard that GitHub will ever support year or categories archives in general.
In case you can't use plugins (for example if you need your site to work on GitHub Pages), you can create one page that contains all years.
This is possible without plugins, for an example see Jekyll/Liquid Templating: How to group blog posts by year?.
If you absolutely must have a separate page for each year and still can't use plugins, there's another way if you're okay with generating a page with two lines of YAML front-matter for each year.
Here's an example where I'm showing how to create tag/category pages (separate page per tag) without using plugins.
It's not that difficult to create something similar for the years of post dates.

Where to add Google Remarketing tag in Magento

I am trying to figure out in which file I need to add the Google remarketing tag. I know it needs to be added before the closing of the body tag. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
here is I did in the past:
Depending on what kind of google tracking you are using you have a few different way to use:
1) If only add a custom code and should be in all the Magento page, use the "Miscellaneous Scripts" value going to admin section, System > Configuration > Design > HTML Head - Miscellaneous Scripts. (This will be included before head closing tag in page HTML.)
2) By native Magento already have Google Analytics tracking code and you can find this configuration going to admin section System > Configuration > Google API - Google Analytics.
3) If you are looking something more complex and use the Google adWords I used the extension magento connect link. For a particular Client I did some extra modification to include some extra code if a client subscribe to newsletter or a new client etc.
I hope you can find something helpfully in the post.
Best,
GrinGo.
There are different template file for different pages in magento so at first I think you should decide where to place it.For example if you want to place it in footer than you should place that code snippet in
"app/design/frontend/base/default/page/html/footer.phtml"
Similarly you can check other different template files to place your code.
NB:Best practice is to overide the core file of magento before making changes to it.
Hope this will help.
There's no indication as to which Magento version you're using 1 or 2. At the end of the day it depends how much technical knowledge you have and if you're using a version control system to manage your Magento build.
Miscellaneous Scripts as another answer mentioned earlier, this approach is straight forward and very easy to use to plug and play your code.
Google Module depending which version of Magento you use (CE/EE) there will be a built-in section for you to plugin your account ID in backend Magento configuration and then the platform will generate necessary code for you.
Write custom module by writing your own module you can place it the snippet anywhere on the page by targeting before_body_end node in your layout XML file. This is more technical but gives you more control over what you can do.
Google Tag Manager this also depends on if your Magento version comes pre-built with Google Tag Manager module, then you can create a container and place all your logic in there. This is also more technical and require the output of some values in JS format on the frontend to let GTM read the values.
At the end of the day go with what is easy to setup, portable and easy to manage. I usually go with Google Tag Manager as it takes time to create initial setup of exposing data on the frontend but then I have full control of what I want to do with that data through tag manager. In most cases you'll end up using the same data (ex. totals, shipping method, product IDs, SKUs, cost, etc.) in more than one third party API so this gives you flexibility to do just that.

Google crawl ajax / dynamically generated content - SEO

I've got a very unique situation that I don't believe any of the other topics here can relate.
I have a ecommerce module that is dynamically loaded / embedded into third party sites, no iframe straight JSON to web client into content. I have no access to these third part sites at all, other then my javascript file being loaded from their page and dynamically generating the content.
I'm aware of the #! method, but that's no good here, my JS does generate "urls" within the embedded platform, but they're fake and for the address bar only, and I don't believe google crawlers can reach this far.
So my question is, is there a meta that we can set to point outside the url to i.e. back to my server with static crawlable content. I.e. pointing the canonical to my server... but again I don't think that would work.
If you implement #! then you have to make sure the url your embedded in supports the fragment parameter versions, which you probably can't. It's server side stuff.
You probably can't influence the canonical tag of the page either. It again has to be done server side. Any meta tag you set via JavaScript will not be seen by a bot.
Disqus solved the problem by providing an API so the embedding websites could get there comments server side and render then in plain html. WordPress has a plugin to do this. Disqus are also one of the few systems that Google has worked out how to crawl their AJAX pages.
Some plugins request people to also include a plain link with the JavaScript. Be careful with this as you may break Google Guidelines if you do it wrong. But you may be able to integrate the plain link with your plugin so that it directs bots and users to a crawlable version of the content.
Look into Google's crawlable ajax standard (and why it's a bad idea) and canonical URLs.
Now you can actually do this. A complete guide and examples can be found here: https://github.com/kubrickology/Logical-escaped_fragment

how to integrate ajax to my project

What do i need to do for putting ajax functionality to my project.
What tool kit do i need to download or how can i integrate that .
and do i really need to do something for putting update panel for my project?
One method for AJAX enabling your ASP sites is using the AJAX control toolkit (http://www.asp.net/ajax/ajaxcontroltoolkit/samples/) which provides some AJAX functionality using ASP controls that should be familiar to a novice Dot Net developer. AJAX Control Toolkit is a DLL you add to your solution just like other controls. There is then markup for use in the ASP.NET pages.
For more customized and advanced AJAX features, your best bet is using JQuery (http://jquery.com/) and create *.asmx Web Services. JQuery includes a $.ajax() call that will communicate to ASP.NET Web Services using JSON. This SO page may help - Calling ASMX from jQuery and this Encosia blog entry may help - http://encosia.com/2008/03/27/using-jquery-to-consume-aspnet-json-web-services/. JQuery is a library of JavaScript files that you download, include in your page, and call into using your own JavaScript files.
I would also recommend that you read the wikipedia entry for AJAX (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajax_(programming)) and familiarize yourself with the related technologies.
I think you need to provide a lot more information before we can give youa definitive answer.
Ajax is simply using Javascript to request a webpage - same as a user clicking on a link - except that JavaScript gets the contents of the page requested instead of showing it to the user.
This allows you to request data within JavaScript without refreshing the page.
As you mentioned UpdatePanel, I'm assuming you're using ASP.Net - In which case, .Net 2.0 didn't include AJAX and you needed to get some additional installs to make it work. 3.5 and later includes it natively.
If you're just starting to get into the whole area, I suggest you do some reading about how AJAX works behind the scenes before trying to use it - Understanding what its doing will save you a LOT of headaches later.
FWIW you don't actually need ANYTHING special to make AJAX work - you can write it yourself entirely in JavaScript (I've done this far too many times). As mentioned in Doug's answer, JQuery is fantastic and is worth using even without the AJAX functionality.
If, however, you want to use UpdatePanels and AJAX, the easiest option is .Net 3.5 or later (Visual Studio 2008 or later)
In my opinion, jQuery has the best AJAX functionality and is easy to learn and use. It's got great documentation and there are lots of tutorials and examples -- I love it.
