I am new to installshield. However, I'm trying to apply the simplest of commands, but ran into an issue.
I have an installation that needs to be installed in c:\program files(x86) (Tried other locations as well). We want to make it automated, so we applied the following command to record the installation.
(Location of the setup)\Setup.exe -r -f1(Full path)\SetupAnswer.iss
and run the setup smoothly.
which installed in c:\program files(x86)(Program name) and created an answerfile
Next when I try to run (Location of the setup)\Setup.exe -S -f(Full path)\SetupAnswer.iss On a new PC it doesn't work.
After some testing. I found that if I create the folder name in c:\program files(x86)(Folder name) before I run the command above, it works like a charm.
I can create a short script to create a folder before running the setup command. But it doesn't look "clean". Checking the .ISS file reveals that at the location it wants to create the folder it looks like this -
szDir=(installation path)\(Folder name)
Result = 1
Not sure if this szDir means create or just use the following path.
Let me know if I'm missing something.

There was an issue with the installation sequence, found it after following yossiz74 advice. There was a missing line due to the folder already existing in c:
Reinstalled it on a clean PC with the record method - Problem solved.
I just downloaded the latest version 3.7 of AspNetBoilerplate with Angular 5 and I was trying to use my new service that I created. It was not showing up in the service proxy. How do I update the auto generated code from swagger?
Go to the angular\nswag> folder. There is a refresh.bat file in there. Execute that file while the project is running in VS 2017 and swagger is showing. It will then update you services so you can call them in your code.
Step1: Open PowerShell
Step2: Go to directory where is your project located and locate \angualar\nswag
which should lool like : PS C:\Users\myname\myangularporject\angular\nswag>
(Check by typing ls or dir and you should see two files named refresh.bat and service.config.nswag)
Step3: Type .\refresh.bat
You are done !
Remember you only need this task if you add new service in your server but you do not neeed to use when modified existing service. Check it out here.
You can do the same thing using "Node.js Command Prompt" like in the Power Shell.
Step 1 : Go to the project location, using "cd" command
Eg :- C:\Users\Name\MyAngularPorject\angular> cd nswag
Step 2 : Run below command
Eg :- C:\Users\Name\MyAngularPorject\angular\nswag> start refresh.bat

Hi i have been trying to install the server weblogic of oracle on windows 8.1 but I obtain the follow when I run the configure.cmd file:
ERROR: You must set MW_HOME and it must point to a directory where an
installation of WebLogic exists. Ensure you point this variable to the
extract location of the zip distribution.
How do I correct this error?
There's a readme file linked from the product download page http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/weblogic/downloads/wls-main-097127.html although your experience would suggest that defining MW_HOME isn't optional! ...
1. Extract the contents of the zip to a directory (eg: /home/myhome/mywls)
This will create a base directory named wls12130 under /home/myhome/mywls
MW_HOME will be the entire directory including the base directory.
(eg: MW_HOME will be /home/myhome/mywls/wls12130).
2. Setup JAVA_HOME and optionally, MW_HOME variables in the current shell as required
for the target platform.
Windows
> set JAVA_HOME=C:\home\myhome\myjavahome
> set MW_HOME=C:\home\myhome\mywls\wls12130
3. Run the installation configuration script in the MW_HOME directory.
This step is required to be run only once. If you move the installation to
another location/machine, you need to rerun this step.
Windows
> configure.cmd
Environment variables are not set properly.
1.- Create product directory
mkdir E:\weblogic\wls << I'm sure you did it and Weblogic binaries are already installed.
2.- set environment variables properly
set JAVA_HOME=_path_to_\jdk1.7.0
set MW_HOME=E:\weblogic\wls
(change above settings according to your installation)
3.- Run configure.cmd
I am having strange problem. I used to run appcfg.py to update my app to appengine but now its not working anymore. When I run this command
C:\Program Files <x86>\Google\google_appengine>appcfg.py update E:\path\myApp\
Its not giving me anything, no error no feedback. Its just back to this line
C:\Program Files <x86>\Google\google_appengine>
Any idea about this issue!
P.S. I'm using Python 2.7. My code is updating through google app launcher but I need to run it from cmd prompt as I will be downloading/uploading appengine stuff which launcher doesn't allow me to do!

I still had a little trouble with the instructions. Here's the steps I used to create a batch file to use the Google App Engine download_app with Windows 7.
In my example,
I'll use drive, C:
Default python path will be, C:\Python27\python.exe
GAE path (include "), "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\google_appengine\appcfg.py"
App ID {your_app_id} will be just your app-id name
{your_app_version} is the "Version:" number in your GAE app.yaml file
I'll create a folder on my Windows 7 desktop and call it GAE_App
The desktop folder path will be C:\Users\{username}\Desktop\GAE_App
{your email} will be the Gmail account connected to your GAE
Right-click on the desktop and select New->Text Document. Open the newly created text document and add the following line of code modified for your setup to the blank text document,
C:\Python27\python.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\google_appengine\appcfg.py" download_app -A {your_app_id} -V {your_app_version} --email={your email} C:\Users\{username}\Desktop\GAE_App
Save the text document and change the file name to GAE_Download.bat
It's important that the extension now says ".bat" instead of ".txt"
Once finished, click on the batch to execute it. You'll be asked for a password and then the files should download into the GAE_App folder on your desktop. Now, whenever you need to download your files, just click on the batch file.
Not sure why Google didn't simply include this feature with their GAE for Windows software.
I faced the same issue. Here is a simple solution.
Just do this following Steps:
Go to program file where google app engine is installed. Generally It is named as Google.
click on appcfg.py and select open with.. Select "Choose Default Programs".
Select Python from programs and select "Always Use the selected program to open this kind of file" .
Now run the command you should get the results on command line.

Here's a solution that worked for me:
"google_appengine/appcfg.py" update "C:\PATH TO APP
The appcfg.bat that should be used is located **C:\Program Files\Google\Cloud SDK\google-cloud-sdk\platform\appengine-java-sdk\bin** and not the empty appcfg.bat that for some unknown reason also was here C:\Program Files\Google\Cloud SDK\
Good practice is to add this path to the system variable PATH
This worked for me

I've been looking all over for decent instructions on how to get hgweb working on IIS but I haven't found much of worth.
There's this "step by step" on the Mercurial wiki, but it's not very good.
There's also this and this, but again, I can't find good steps to lead up to where those get started.
I just had to install a fresh Mercurial instance yesterday, here's updated instructions for 1.7:
Install Mercurial (these instructions were tested with 1.7)
Install Python (for Mercurial 1.7, you must use the x86 version of Python 2.6.6)
You will need to download the hgweb.cgi file from the Mercurial source. You can download the source by running: hg clone https://www.mercurial-scm.org/repo/hg/
Create a folder that will be your web application folder. You will need to copy three things into this folder:
The hgweb.cgi file
The contents of the Library.zip from your "C:\Program Files\Mercurial" folder
The Templates folder from your "C:\Program Files\Mercurial"
You will need to make sure you have Python set up in IIS.
Enable CGI via the following: Control Panel -> Turn Windows Features On or Off -> Roles -> Web Server (IIS) -> Add Role Services -> Check CGI
Create a new Web Site in IIS and make sure the physical path is the folder you created above
In the Handler Mappings for the new website, select "Add Script Map". Enter *.cgi for the request path, c:\Python26\python.exe -u "%s" for the Executable, and Python for the Name.
You will also need to create a file named "hgweb.config" with contents similar to below. The path within the file needs to be the location on your drive where you want to store the Mercurial repositories:

Edit the hgweb.cgi file and change the line where it sets the path to your hgweb.config to something like the following (wherever the hgweb.config file is):
config = "C:\Mercurial\hgweb.config"
Now, open a browser and navigate to http://localhost/mercurial/hgweb.cgi (or whatever is the appropriate URL path you set up in IIS) and you should see the Mercurial Repositories page.
Also, check out Jeremy Skinners blog post . It's a little outdated, but has some extra nice steps like setting up URL re-writing for cleaner URL's.
It seems since Mercurial 1.5.2 was released, these tutorials don't work exactly right. For one thing, hgwebdir.cgi has been removed, and is now replaced with hgweb.cgi.
The instructions that worked best for me is at eworldui.net:

Below are what I did after doing a fair amount of research for geting hgwebdir.cgi setup on IIS6 . It is based on the following sites:

You'll need to install the following on the server:
Mercurial (I used version 1.5)
Python 2.6. The version of Python depends on the version of Mercurial installed.
Mercurial 1.5 uses Python 2.6. Install x86 even if you are running x64.
The steps for me were:
Create a directory for the website. I used c:\inetpub\wwwroot\hg.
In IIS, right click on the folder for hg, select properties, select the Home Directory tab.
Click on the Create application button. Set the execute permissions to "scripts".
Still in the Home Directory tab, click on the Configuration button. In the "Application Configuration" popup, click the Add button to add an application extension. The Executable is c:\Python26\python.exe -u "%s" "%s". The extension is .cgi. Set the "verbs" to "limit to: GET,HEAD,POST". Check both Script engine and Verify that file exists.
In the Directory Security tab, click on the Edit button in the Authentication and access control section. Uncheck all authentication methods, and check the "Basic authenication" method. Set the Default domain if you like to your Active Directory domain.
In IIS, click on the Web Service Extensions folder on the left panel. Click on "Add a new Web service extension" link. Extension name should be Python, the required file is c:\Python26\python.exe -u "%s" "%s". Make sure the new extension is "Allowed".
Now is a good time to test that Python is working. Create a file in your new Hg folder called test.cgi. Paste the following python code:

clone the hg repo to a new directory: https://www.mercurial-scm.org/repo/hg/
copy hgwebdir.cgi to your web directory: c:\inetpub\wwwroot\hg\ from the cloned hg repo
Edit the file and change
application = hgwebdir('hgweb.config')
wsgicgi.launch(application)
to
application = hgwebdir('c:\inetpub\wwwroot\hg\hgweb.config')
wsgicgi.launch(application)
Unzip the Library.zip file in the Mercurial directory, c:\Program Files\Mercurial\, to your web directory, c:\inetpub\wwwroot\hg\
Copy the templates directory from c:\Program Files\Mercurial\templates\ to c:\inetpub\wwwroot\hg\templates\
Create a file called hgweb.config in your web directory.
Now is a good time to test it out. Go to the following URL in the browser, http://localhost/hg/hgwebdir.cgi
Edit hgweb.config, and paste the following:

\\server\share$\Hg\ = \\server\share$\Hg\
[web]
allow_push = *
push_ssl = false
These are all my preferences, for instance we have our repos in subdirectories at \\server\share$\Hg. The web app will run under the permissions of the logged in user via the browser, so they'll need read/write permissions to the share.
The last step is to allow for long connections which can happen when you first clone a repo. Run the following command to increase the timeout to 50 minutes:
cd \inetpub\AdminScripts\
cscript adsutil.vbs GET /W3SVC/CGITimeout
cscript adsutil.vbs SET /W3SVC/CGITimeout 3000
Use mercurial to clone the mercurial repository:
hg clone https://www.mercurial-scm.org/repo/hg/
you will find hgwebdir.cgi at the top level. It should install
like any other cgi script.
I've been fighting with this setup for mercurial 1.7.2 for the past week or so, I had to do things slightly differently than the above articles do in order to get it working.

I followed a combination of these instructions and these (in the source)
The main differences are that I had to do the "pure python" install of mercurial otherwise it would complain about missing dlls, and I found it was important to use the "python installers" for pywin and isapi-wsgi. (maybe this is obvious to experienced python developers, but I'm a python newbie so it was news to me)
Hope this helps somebody and I'm not just making stuff up (I might be, like i said, python newbie)

I was running into a "...can not load module..." type error and after some reading, the key for me was to ignore the Library.zip file in the Mercurial folder, and instead use the one from C:\Program Files (x86)\TortoiseHg folder.

I know this is an old question, but I really struggled getting Hg installed on Server 2019 and IIS 10.
Here is what I did to get it working:
Install Python 2.7 which in my case was python-2.7.18.amd64.msi. I will assume it's installed in C:\Python27. Make sure python is added to your path and that pip is installed.
Install Mercurial as a module using pip at the command line:
pip install mercurial
Under Default Web Site add a new application called hg and point it to the directory you want to use to use.
Configure Python as CGI handler in IIS 10.0 for this new website (or the entire web server if you wish). You can do this manually or create/add the follwing to your web.config file:

You can try HgLab. This isn't exactly hgwebdir; rather it is a purely managed Mercurial implementation with push and pull server and repository browser.
