I am writing a script to capture the login time. In the final production, there would be no input from any user. However I am testing it and I wanted to know how I add extra code to determine that
If its in 'debug' mode AND
The user that is logging in is me (lets say my username is joe.smith on the domain called EXAMPLE)
then present an input box to allow me to type the date, time for logging in.
All other users would never see this and it would capture today with the system time.
I would also like to hide the code so if the script is opened by the wrong person, they wouldnt be able to make heads or tails of whats going on.
You can use a command line parameter as Matt says to set the script into debug mode, eg

Which you can invoke with

To get the current user name, you can use either the WMI Service or the WScript.Network object.
Once you have the username, you can conditionally throw up an InputBox and collect the value returned:

And finally, to obfuscate your code you could use the Scripting.Encoder although it looks like this doesn't seem to be supported on Vista or Windows 7. There does seem to be a few hits on googling the phrase obfuscating vbscript, anyway.
Most of this sounds like it can be resolved by the logic of the script.
Have a command line parameter (debug is an appropriate name) and then have some if logic in the code to do as you wish (present the input box).
For the code obfuscation, I don't know how this could be done in vbscript. Windows scripting host works with JavaScript as well though and there are plenty of tools on the web for making JS harder to read. Maybe you want to look a using JS...

I think you can check the property App.LogMode to see if you are in 'debug' mode or not. If it is 0 then you are running debug mode and if it is 1 you are not.

I am creating many games using Lua and LOVE2D, but whenever I implement a new function and want to test it out, or simply want to know a value of a variable in Lua, I either display it on the game screen or just hope that it works.
Now my question is...
IS THERE A WAY TO DISPLAY SOME INFO, such as A VARIABLE VALUE or something else into the terminal or somewhere else? Just like console.log in javascript which displays some content in the javascript console in the browser. So, is there a way to do this is Lua?? using LOVE2D?
I am using a Mac, so I have a terminal and not a command prompt. Is there a way to display some content there? Anywhere else would also be fine, I just need to see if those values are as expected or not.
Use a conf.lua file to enable the console, then you should be able to use a standard print(). You can read the wiki entry here.
Note: You have to run Lua and Love2D via the terminal for this to work. Running Lua and Love2D like this is required for the print statements to show:
/Applications/love.app/Contents/MacOS/love "/Users/myuser/Desktop/love2d-test-proj"
You just need to add a conf.lua file to the same location where your main.lua. Your file may be as simple as this:

But feel free to copy the whole configuration file from the above link and edit what you need.
I can't be completely sure about this, because I have no access to Mac, but the console is disabled by default and even on Windows, no prints are shown until you turn it on.
Alternatively You can also display debug info in the game itself like some games do.
What I like to do is add something like debugVariable = {} for logging events that happen in each loop and debugPermanent = {} for events that happen rarely. Possibly add convenience functions for writing to the variables:

Obviously, this method can be refined further and further almost infinitely, displaying specific variables, and adding graphs for some other variables to clarify the information you want to show, but that's kind of outside of the scope of the question.

I'm trying to get Word to fill in cells in a table. The script works when run as a macro from within Word, but fails when saved as a .vbs file and double-clicked, or run with wscript. This is a part of it.

I have three problems. First, it won't compile unless I comment out the .Collapse and .MoveRight lines. Second, although the MsgBox .text displays the selected text, I get "out of range" errors if I try to access any .Information property.
I'm sure I'm missing something very simple: I usually write software for Macs, and I'd do this using AppleScript. This is my first attempt at getting anything done under Windows.
VBScript and VBA are different languages.
They are a bit similar, but not very. Moreover, VBScript is not like AppleScript; it doesn't let you easily interface with running programs.
The interfaces you'll get from VBScript can behave subtly differently in VBA and VBScript. However, I think you've got two problems here:
:= is invalid syntax in VBScript; you'll need to find an alternative way of calling the function. Try just using positional arguments.
You've no guarantee that this will open the expected file; there could be another instance of Word that it's interacting with instead.
Since your code is not running within the Word environment it would require a reference to the Word object library in order to use enumeration constants (those things that start with wd).
VBScript, however, cannot work with references, which means the only possibility is to use the long value equivalents of the enumerations. You'll find these in the Word Language References. Simplest to use is probably the Object Browser in Word's VBA Editor. (In Word: Alt+F11 to open the VBA Editor; F2 to start the Object Browser; type in the term in the "Search" box, click on the term, then look in the bottom bar.)
The code in the question uses, for example:

The reason you get various kinds of errors depends on where these are used.
Also, VBScript can't used named parameters such as Unit:=. Any parameters must be passed in comma-delimited format, if there's more than one, in the order specified by the method or property. If there are optional parameters you don't want to use these should be left "blank":

We have to use VBScript as an embedded script engine in our Hospital Information System.
When we use nothing to set the value of a control (textbox/checkbox/...) it worked always fine. Since somepoint it sets now the textbox to "?>".

It is not completly clear what causes this, maybe a windows update is responsible, every rollup ~ since KB3212646 Win7 2017-01 seems to cause this error.
My Question is now, has someone else also seem this error, so that it is clear that MS causes this error or is our HIS publisher responsible for not handling nothing correct.
I know setting a textbox to Nothing is not best practice instead "" should be better, but since the item object could be more the just a textbox e.g. a combobox/checkbox this seems, from an objectoriented perpsective, better. Or am I completly wrong?
Following #Ansgar comment, you should apparently change everywhere you have = nothing to = "" in your example

I have some tasks that need to be removed. Some users have installed Chrome under their own profile and the only way to remove it is to "nuke" it since it is not feasible to log in with their account and do the uninstall the proper way. The scheduled tasks have a user sid added to the end of the name, so I have to search for a task with "GoogleUpdate" in the string. When I remove a service, I like to stop the service, disable the service, then delete it. I want to do the same thing with the scheduled tasks. After a lot of scouring of the web, I have found the syntax to disable, delete and that works perfect, but not how to stop. I would prefer not to shell out and use schtasks since I have come this far with a 200 + line script using all VbScript.
Here is what I have so far. I need help figuring out the syntax for the ".Stop" method. If anyone has an example of the stop method, it would be much appreciated.

How can I check values of my variables at run time when using QTP UFT?
I simply want to create a variable, do logic and fill it with data, set a breakpoint in the line following the variable and then check or output its value somewhere.
I have tried:
print variableName
WScript.Echo variableName
The first produces error: Print function type mismatch
The second produces error: Object required: "WScript"
I'm not sure where the problem lies as I've just started to get into both UFT and VBScript (mostly did C# and javascript and everything is quite different here). Could someone tell me the correct solution and perhaps also explain these errors to me?
If you wanted to see all variables use the debug viewer in QTP.
View -> Debug Viewer
There you can list all the variables you want to watch. You should be able to see them in break points.
Note : Ensure you have Windows script debugger installed to use the debug viewer.
You can also add the variable to watch .. Insert a breakpoint>> start the script then right click on the variable under test and add it to watch(Add to Watch) . After Adding you will see a watch window and the value of the variable will be displayed.
I obsess over my variables... so much so that I sprinkly my code with print statements... Actually, I abstract print into my own UDF (so that I can optionally add logging to a file if needed)...

Honestly, I'm shocked that your "print variableName" statement gave an error, print is actually available in the VBScript api, so it should have worked.
All of my output goes to the Output pane in UFT. I would give my right-arm to find a way to programmatically clear that output pane between runs, but noone seems to know how to do it.
The benefit of all this logging is that I can watch my code run and see EVERY branch taken by the code, and I can add statements to print my variables.
Here's an example that shows how I would answer your question:
