I've set up an NSSearchField in a toolbar and connected an action in Interface Builder. This action gets called every time I enter some text, but not when I click the small cross to empty it or I somehow delete the text I just entered. Is this a bug or is it fixable?
Well, I figured out it actually works. My problem was that 1) I used the search string from the search field to filter some strings and searching a string for an empty string (#"") apparently returns no result 2) when I tried to log the search string using NSLog(#"%#",searchString) I got some output only with a non-empty string, while NSLog(#"sometexthere %#",searchString) seems to work!

I'm trying to automate Filter By Brand scenario in BigBasket and now stuck up in a situation where my code could not print the brand names that are hidden inside a scroll bar.
Steps to follow
Go to www.bigbasket.com
Click Skip & Explore button
Search Apple and view the list of brands on the left side
#FindAll({#FindBy(xpath="//*#id='filter_brands_list']/div/div1/li/label")})
List chkBrands;
The above lines of code identifies all the brand names but when I print them using the below code I can see only the brand names that are visible
for(WebElement eachElement:chkBrands){
System.out.println("No. of brands is "+chkBrands.size());
System.out.println(eachElement.getText());
}
Could you please let me know the solution? I apologize that I could not think of a solution as I'm an amateur in Selenium.
WebElement.getText() will return the text of the element only if it is displayed on the screen.
Meaning if the isDisplayed method returns false then getText()method will return empty.
Explanation with Examples Here
As defined in WebDriver spec, Selenium WebDriver will only interact
with visible elements, therefore the text of an invisible element will
always be returned as an empty string.
However, in some cases, one may find it useful to get the hidden text,
which can be retrieved from element's textContent, innerText or
innerHTML attribute, by calling element.attribute('attributeName') or
injecting JavaScript like return arguments[0].attributeName.
So you can get the text by textContent attribute
eachElement.getAttribute("textContent")
Try this one:
JavascriptExecutor je = (JavascriptExecutor)driver;
WebElement element = driver.findElement(By.xpath("Your_xpath"));
String text_value = ((JavascriptExecutor) driver).executeScript("return arguments[0].innerHTML;",element);
How to Auotmate Combo box for makemytrip as I am able to insert the value but once the focus is moved value is erased from the combobox
Try use Click first on that WebEdit (or maybe WebElement) object. Then, use SendKeys method to insert desired value. One potential issue here is that the value may still disappear even you use SendKeys, if so, try to send the string one by one. Google has lots of sample codes about SendKeys and sending string one character by one character.
If it's a WebEdit object, you might find it works best if you use the WebEdit("whateveritscalled").Type myDestinationString operation rather than Set or SendKeys.
Try the following, I am setting the values using the Elementid,it should work-
Browser("MakeMyTrip, India's No").Page("MakeMyTrip, India's No").Object.getElementById("from_typeahead1").value = "New Delhi, India (DEL)"
Browser("MakeMyTrip, India's No").Page("MakeMyTrip, India's No").Object.getElementById("to_typeahead1").value = "Mumbai, India (BOM)"
I am new to ReactiveCocoa, but I think it's very nice and outstanding technique for reducing code complexity. I just started experiencing with the framework, and not everything is clear for me at the moment, so excuse me if my problem can be solved in some obvious way.
In my app I have login view controller with simple form contains two text fields (username and password) and a button. I would like the button to be disabled if any of two text fields is empty. So, I wrote this code:
RAC(self.loginButton, enabled) =
[RACSignal combineLatest:#[self.userTextField.rac_textSignal,
self.passwordTextField.rac_textSignal]
reduce:^(NSString *username,
NSString *password) {
BOOL valid = (username.length > 0 && password.length > 0);
return #(valid);
}];
It's very simple and it's working. The problem is that one of my text fields (the password field) has secureTextEntry and clearsOnBeginEditing properties set to YES. I will try to explain unwanted behavior that I am experiencing with this configuration:
Let's assume that both username and password fields are NOT empty. In this case the button is enabled. When user taps on password field, it becomes first responder (keyboard appears and user can enter his password), but because of clearsOnBeginEditing being set to YES for that field, the previously entered password is cleared from the text field. That's way password field is now empty. The problem is that signal is not being sent, so the button remains enabled, despite the password field is empty.
My first idea to solve this issue (well, more like workaround solution) was to observe isFirstResponder property on password field beside observing text changes. That's way the block that checks if button should be enabled would be called when password field becomes first responder. I don't know if this solution works, because I have no idea how to implement it using ReactiveCocoa. I have looking for creating a signal for isFirstResponder property changes, but without a luck. It might be not the best approach in order to solve this issue, but nothing comes to my mind at this point.
Then, the question is: how to observe isFirstResponder property with ReactiveCocoa?
And more general question: how to observe text field's text changes when clearsOnBeginEditing is set to YES?
UPDATE:
I found out that I can create signal for UIControlEventEditingDidBegin event that should give me substitution of observing isFirstResponder property changes:
[self.passwordTextField rac_signalForControlEvents:UIControlEventEditingDidBegin]
Unfortunately this does not solve the issue. Now I understand that field is cleared AFTER it becomes first responder, and clearing field automatically after it becomes first responder does not send signal for text changes. That's way when validation block is executed it still thinks that password field is not empty, and the button remains enabled despite password field was cleared and it's empty.
Unfortunately the -rac_textSignal only listens for UIControlEventEditingChanged. If UIControlEventEditingDidBegin were added, you'd be all set.
I suppose you could patch this into it and submit a pull request?
- (RACSignal *)rac_textSignal {
#weakify(self);
return [[[[[RACSignal
defer:^{
#strongify(self);
return [RACSignal return:self];
}]
concat:[self rac_signalForControlEvents:UIControlEventEditingChanged|UIControlEventEditingDidBegin]]
map:^(UITextField *x) {
return x.text;
}]
takeUntil:self.rac_willDeallocSignal]
setNameWithFormat:#"%# -rac_textSignal", [self rac_description]];
}
I've been working on a custom field, which contains a list.
I have to be able to edit the selected item on the list in a richtext editor. (this is the only missing part).
I've read the topic on opening from c# code Opening Rich Text Editor in custom field of Sitecore Content Editor .
This works nice for the "add" button, since i have to open the RTE empty(with default text...), but not for the Edit button.
My aproaches are:
Somehow in the Edit button's message field list:edit(id=$Target) pass the selected index (like list:edit(id=$Target,index=$SelectedIndex), but i don't know how to populate $SelectedIndex
Somehow in the overridden HandleMessage method get the list's selected index. I'm able to get the selected value Sitecore.Context.ClientPage.ClientRequest.Form[ID of list], but thats alone not much of a help, since i won't be able to decide which one to edit if two listitem equals.
Do the richtext editor opening and handling fully in javascript. As i saw at some script in content editor, i tried to do that, but i can't understand it clearly:
richtext editor url:
var page = "/sitecore/shell/Controls/Rich Text Editor/EditorPage.aspx";
some params :
var params = "?da=core&id&ed=" + id + "&vs=1&la=en&fld=" + id + "&so&di=0&hdl=H14074466&us=sitecore%5cadmin&mo";
and the part where i'm not sure:
var result = scForm.browser.showModalDialog(page + params, new Array(window), "dialogHeight:650px; dialogWidth:900px;");
This way the RTE opens as expected (i guess i could get the selected index from javascript and pass it as a parameter later). However when i click ok, i get exception from EditorPage.js saveRichText function: Cannot read property 'ownerDocument' of null. Am i missing some parameter?
Either of the three aproaches is fine for me(also i'm open for new better ones) as soon as i'm able to do it.
Thanks in advance!
Tamas
I was able to enter some javascript into the message:
list:Edit(id=$Target,index='+document.getElementById(ID of the select using $Target ).selectedIndex+')
this way i got the index in HandleMessage.
I'm waiting for better solutions now.
How do you get the length of the text inside a Mojo TextField?
I'm trying to set a multiLine TextField with a limit of 150 chars, I tried doing it with a counter, but ran into a issue of not being able to decrement the counter when the text was erased, or adding the right number when pasting text, so my new approach was to get the length of the text each time you press a letter.
I've already tried this: (gets called in the charsAllow attribute of the textField)
if (this.controller.get("mensaje").mojo.getValue().length <= 150) {
return true;
}
this.controller.get("mensaje").mojo.blur();
return false;
but it doesn't work.... I debugged and the function exits just after the line in bold... it doesn't even returns true or false.
I also tried assigning the length value to a variable or assigning the text to a variable and then get the length, but nothing.
It's the same issue. It returns just after the getValue().
Also, maybe because of this issue, the text scrolls instead of wrapping, but when the textField loses focus it wraps the text.
If 'mensaje' is the HTML id of your text field, try getting it and using .innerHTML().length. In other words, work with the DOM element using Javascript/Prototype functions instead of the Mojo object.
My first guess would be that "this" isn't being passed into charsAllow properly. Did you .bind(this) the function you're passing as an argument?
I found this a little odd... the function mojo.getValue() actually works... but not from inside the function called by "charsAllow"..., and also, the function called by charsAllow can't call any other function, it just breaks out of the function doing nothing... does someone have a way to limit the chars in a MultiLine TextField??? (mojo textfield, to preserve the look :D). Thanks!!
