Direct edit on selected label in eclipse gef - eclipse-gef

I have two labels in an figure . by default gef allows direct editing to be performed when the user clicks the edit part. I have two labels in the same figure i have to perform direct editing on the label on which the mouse was clicked . but now when i click both the labels are displaying for direct edit ?

I've never done it, but my guess is that either you have to either create an editpart for each label and then each editpart will get the REQ_DIRECT request, or you can plug directly a draw2d listener to the label and create more specific requests.
The first option can be implemented by returning from the containing figure two model children that you can probably store at the parent. The factory should be able go identify them and create a new edit part which in turn creates a figure that only contains a label and which installs the direct edit policy
I don't know how to implement the second solution :-)

Basically you have to:
1.- Parent component must inherit from ButtonListener, and you must implement the buttonclicked method

2.- Your "UIs" i must suppose are components, if so just do something like:
component.setVisible(false),

Or perhaps stash them in a TabbedComponent, hide the tabs or overlap some buttons and then just do:
tabbedComponent.setCurrentTabIndex(someIndex);
That should get you going, in case you need help to draw a button just do something like:
addAndMakeVisible (&someButton);
someButton.setBounds(...);
someButton.addListener(this);

Make a click event based on a control's name value property

I'm using TestComplete for the automation of QA process.
TestComplete detects click events based on the postion of the mouse on the screen. But when I run the same test on a different machine (a larger/smaller screen) the mouse button won't click on the correct position.
Therefore I want to know is there a method which I can search a control based on its name (i.e. name of a button) and then run a script to click on that particular word (or position).
Any help is appreciated :)

What I want to know is, is there a way I can specify the control name (i.e 'Search' or 'imagebuttonSa'), so the TestComplete will search for the name in the given GUI and then once it's found, make a click event on the word.
I'm using Windows 7 64bit OS, TestComplete 9 trial version and VBScript as the scripting language.
As far as I can see, TestComplete already works in your case with specific controls/objects: textboxQ and imagebuttonSa. These two names are given to objects by the Name Mapping functionality and you are free to change them as you like.
As for the coordinates, these coordinates are related to the top left corner of the corresponding control (textboxQ or imagebuttonSa). If you want, you can remove the coordinates from the action parameters (e.g. ...imagebuttonSa.Click()) and TestComplete will click the central point of the control.
In case you have any problems with playing back your tests and you cannot find out what the cause of these problems is, the best option for you will be contacting the SmartBear support team with detailed explanation of what happens. Send them your project with failed results logs.
Whenever I have a problem with not finding an object with TC I use one of this functions or a combination of them.

If you don't specify co-ordinate, it will click at the center of the object.
You can try doing FindChild or Find with the Object Name Mapping where the button resides, with Properties like (Eg:ObjectType as Button and Button Caption with your required button caption), once the FindChild finds the button with above specified properties you can use that object to click on it:

Prism navigation- finding out origin of navigation request?

I have a viewmodel tied to a view used in a region. I'm trying to find a way that when that view is navigated to from a particular view (say view A), it does some work internally, like initializing some lists, setting some stuff, whatever. But if it has been navigated to from view B, it needs to NOT reinitialize everything, and just display the data it already has.
I could pass a parameter I suppose, saying whether this is a new operation or if we are going back to work on the old one, but I thought it would be nicer to be able to state that if we came from this view, we do one thing, and if we came from that one we do another.
If that makes sense :)
You can implement the INavigationAware interface which contains 3 methods. One of these methods is the OnNavigatedTo method. There you can access the journal and check the current entry. From there you should be able to determine if it came from View A or View B.

Eclipse RCP: How can I update a view when the selected editor changes?

This should be quite a common problem, but I couldn't find anything helpful on the topic.
We are developing an application with Eclipse RCP. The application shows data in an editor of which usually multiple instances are open. In an additional view you can edit the editor-values. When the values are changed in the view they are updated in the editor and it's dirty flag is set.
So far it works fine. What we're missing is: When another editor instance gets the focus, our view should show the data of this editor.
I managed to do that for two views. The second view is sucessfully updated using a TableViewer as selection Provider and registering a SelectionListener in the other view. I tried the same thing for the editor using a Viewer I subclassed from ContentViewer, but it didn't work.
Can this approach be working?
Or do I need a different approach on the problem?
May be you can subclass your view from PageBookView and then provide special adapter for your editor. Outline View is implemented using this approach.

The IPartListener2 replaces IPartListener with 3.5.

One EditPart for all model views (in GMF/GEF)

We're working on creating a modeling tool based on the GMF framework and tools. We have a requirement to allow users to add views (figures) at runtime and use them in their diagrams. We will be using SVG files to represent figures.
What's the correct structure of EditParts and other GEF related classes in such a case? We were thinking of implementing a single GEF EditPart class, that would create the appropriate figure based on a parameter (path to SVG file) present in the model. So far it doesn't seem to be working.
There HAS to be someone who's already done something like this before. Googling and the Eclipse forums have not been helpful so far...
Well we found a (partial) solution. We have one element, and depending on a parameter we create a child figure inside it, which uses an SVG file (based on the parameter).
The following test code is called in the constructor of the Figure:

Now we need to figure out how to have multiple elements in the Palette.
The correct way is to have one to one mapping between figure and editpart . Also painting task should be left to the figure . How the image should be painted , the logic must be inside the figure not in the editpart.
