I want to maintain the Scroll Position between two pages. I have a Page A which has many reports, when user clicks a report, user will be redirected to Page B where the report will be opened to make the changes. After submitting changes, user will be redirected to Page A. Here the problem is, showing the top of the page but I want to show the page at the previous position.
I have tried using this.MaintainScrollPositionOnPostBack = true; but this is working only on the same page but not between the different pages.
I really need to fix this, please give me your thoughts...
The simplest thing to do is probably give every link/report on page A an anchor.
So, for each report you would hide an id attribute somewhere - say the title, so it would be something like <h3 id="report42">Report 42</h3>. Then when you go back from page B, instead of going to www.example.com/pageA.html, you go to www.example.com/pageA.html#report42. This will open the page with the scrollbar at wherever the report42 id is found.

I'm trying to make an apex form that has multiple 'pages' within it, so that I can achieve a nice layout.
For example:
Page 1 - Personal Details >> Page 2 - Occupation >> Page 3 - Career History >> Submit
Is there a way to do this without submitting one page at a time as this would mess up my validation for the table entry.
It's kind of a broad question - lots of possible solutions. You will need to create several regions on the page, so that you can easily show or hide different sets of page items without submitting the page.
If you simply want to keep the page tidy, you could make use of the Hide and Show Region template, or you could create a Region Display Selector region.
To help the user experience flow a bit better, I would probably do something like this:
Set up the page items using the Form wizard.
Create three HTML regions - Personal Details, Occupation, and Career History.
Move the page items into the appropriate regions.
Delete the original region created by the wizard, together with the default buttons.
Create navigation buttons in each region - probably a Next button in Personal Details, Next and Previous buttons in Occupation, and Previous and Submit in Career History.
Create dynamic actions for each of the buttons. The Submit button submits the page of course. The Next and Previous buttons show and hide the regions as appropriate.
I have a page say "Main Page" (Page 1) which looks like a Outlook calendar page having a large number of rows displayed using . Actually, the columns represent "Weeks" and the rows represent "Products". The functionality is that the user can choose a product week combination and create offers for the chosen week.Ideally, as we have a lot of rows (products), we should have ideally implemented pagination but we have not.
We use JSF2 (Mojarra faces that comes with JBoss EAP 6.0). Main Page uses a different bean and Details page uses a different bean and both are in session scope.
When the user creates an offer, instead of refreshing the entire page (i.e. Page1), we just refresh the impacted cells using AJAX. However, the On double clicking the slot(offer), we redirect to a different page (Page2) that displays offer details.
Page 1 - Main Page and Page 2 - Details page.
There are 2 cases from here :
Case 1: User goes from Main page to the details page, just views information on the details page and clicks the close button. In this case, it is enough for me to display Main Page as it was before I opened the details page. To achieve this, we used browser history.back(). However, we faced the below issues :
(a) history.back() works only in Firefox and does not work in Chrome/IE.
(b) Even if we do history.back(), the page loading is cleary visible and as our page is heavy, it takes a few seconds. I would like to avoid re-rendering of main page again (i.e. make it look like opening a popup from the main page and closing it)
Case 2: User goes from Main Page to Details page and makes certain updates which require us to reflect those updates in the main page.(For example: change color of the slot from red to green on the main page).
Currently, when Details page is closed, we call an API that provides us with refreshed data (so that we do not need to maintain the list of actions that the user had performed) and we reload the entire Main page (Page1). However, as the page takes a long time to load, we are asked to refresh only the affected slots/rows.
So, the problem here is that if we have to achieve the refresh of Main Page through AJAX, we need to maintain a list of activities that has been done on the details page and feed it through AJAX which appears to be a complicated activity. (We also want to avoid calling the API.)
Is there any workaround which helps us to refresh only the selected rows on the Main Page to minimise the page load time. Can ui:repeat be partially re-rendered ?

I have one issue in my program, i have three pages in my program, Main page, first page and second page. I'm able to navigate from the main page to the first page and from the first page to the second page. I have a stack panel in the first page. It consists of children which are dynamically created from the db. This page contains a OnNavigateTo method, for bringing the elements from the main page and displaying it, And i wrote my codings in this method to add dynamically children to the stackpanel. when navigating back from the second page to the first page, the compiler will goes to the OnNavigateTo method and regenerate the children of the stackpanel once again.
My problem is:
i want to show the previously displayed first page with all the data, when the back button is pressed. I doesn't want the page to regenerate again. I want the static page which i have previously when i go back from the second page to the first page.
How to do it? please help me with some piece of code... Thank You..
Do the logic in the constructor, because it doesn't get called when navigating back (unless the app has been tombstoned). OnNavigatedTo gets called every time no matter how you navigate to the page.

I have a C#.NET MVC3 web app. I have a View that has a List of Models. This list can be long, requiring the user to scroll down on the View. When selecting one of the models in the View to Edit, the user is taken to the Edit View. After submitting the Edit View, the user is redirected back to the List View. However, the List View is now displaying back at the top of the list. How can I redirect the user back to the same position in the List View where they clicked the Edit button?
You would probably be better suited using a modal popup dialog to edit the data, rather than navigating to another page.
While it's possible to do what you want, it's a pain. You would have to get the scroll location via javascript, save it to a hidden field, post that to your edit page, along with record number and anything else, then re-post it back to your original page when you return, then read the post value and scroll to it via javascript.
All that is avoided if you just use a modal edit dialog, then when the dialog goes away the page is still in the same place.
I'm using Joomla to develop a user profile management component with AJAX.
The goal is to allow the user to edit his own user information. There is a lot of information so instead of having one massive form, I decided to make "subforms" or sections. And for the whole thing to be user-friendly I want to send the forms and refresh the user information with AJAX.
Here's an example :
There are two sections, "Basic user info" which displays the first name, the last name and the age of the person and "Extended user info" which displays the occupation, the company and the skills of the person. Each section has an "edit" link (or button) which turns the content into a form (AJAX) allowing the user to modify the presented information. You can only edit one section's information at a time. When the user has finished modifying the data, he sends the form with a "send" link (or button) and the section gets back to simply displaying the information of the section (with the updates that were just made).
So I need to know what is the most efficient way to develop such a component. I thought of two approaches :
1) In the "tmpl" directory of the main component view we the following files :
default_basic.php (displays the basic user information),
default_basic_edit.php (displays the form which allows the user to edit the basic information)
default_extended.php (displays the extended user information),
default_extended_edit.php (displays the form which allows the user to edit the extended info)
default.php (loads each of the display subtemplates with calls to JView::loadTemplate($subtemplate))
When the user clicks on an edit link, an AJAX call is made to the following URI index.php?option=com_userinfo&view=userinfo&subview=basic_edit&format=ajax, which causes the view class to call $this->loadTemplate('basic_edit') after assigning the user information to it.
If the user clicks cancel the same process is used to load the 'basic' template again. And if the user modifies the information and clicks the send link, the form is sent and then the 'basic' template is loaded too.
2) There is only a "default.php" file in the "tmpl" directory which holds the edit version and the display version of each section. But all the edit versions are hidden at first. And when the user clicks on the edit link the display version of the section becomes hidden and the edit version is displayed (using display:none and display:block). Then, if the user clicks the cancel button we do the opposite. And if the user clicks the send button we send an AJAX request to update the data in the database and return the updated user info which will be loaded into the display version of the section. And we finally replace the edit version of the section with its display version.
I know there's a lot of text but in the end it goes down to choosing between refreshing full HTML blocks with AJAX, or just sending the updated info and modifying the content of hidden blocks and then make them appear. So what do you think is the most logical approach, knowing that we are in a Joomla 1.5 environment ? How would you procede ? (maybe there are other ways to create such a component ?)
(I tried both ways and I couldn't entirely make it work so I decided to ask to see if it is a matter of conception...)

My answer is: why even refresh parts when it can be done without it?
For example when we are talking about basic form elements like text fields and check/radio buttons I would prefer the following: on a successful save/send simply display a nice message like "Profile saved" for some seconds and the user is sure that the changes are save and sound.
In case I msissed somthing let me know.
I have tried both solutions and #2 is the only one that worked for me.
