When I try to install Visual Studio 11 on Windows 7, and start it; I receive the following error. See the picture below:
Based on the error message, you could try reinstalling MS Sql Server, then run the Visual Studio installer again.

I am having a very hard time installing Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 on a Windows XP machine. I downloaded and installed a Visual Studio 2010 trial without trouble. But when I downloaded and tried to install Visual Studio Service Pack 1 I got the error message shown below.
Once I got the error, I re-booted (to kill any processes) and opened add/remove programs, which showed that SP1 was installed on my machine. I tried to uninstall SP1 and got the exact same error message that I got during the install!? I then tried to uninstall SP1 using Revo uninstaller and got the same message again.
in my copy of visual studio, intellisense doesn't pick up the # tag for the razor syntax (SP1 added that support for that syntax)--so I know the installation was unsuccessful
Where can I go from here?
I have Windows 7 box.
I want to install SQL Server 2005 on it.
The box has following programs already installed:
Visual Studio 2005
Visual Studio 2008
Visual Studio 2010
I had SQL server 2008 which I uninstalled.
When I try to install SQL Server 2005, I get the following warning message:
If I click on "Check for solutions online", it says no solution exists.
If I click on "Run program", I get this error and SQL server is not installed
Please let me know if you have know of a solution to this.
Solved!
There are two folders in the installer - Server and Tools.
I was trying to install Server first, and it did not install.
When I ran setup.exe from Tools it installed.
Then I ran setup.exe from Server and it worked.
Windows 7 and Visual Studio installations did not have anything to do as I had speculated before.
Thanks.
