Scriptaculous Autocomplete list closes on scroll bar click - events

I have a really annoying issue with Autocomplete with Prototype 1.6. I set up and dialog-style div with a form, which contains an Autocomplete. Everything works fine until I click the scroll bar, or drag it; it closes the list of suggestions. I checked this solution but now I got an javascript error
event.srcElement is undefined
I was checking the controls.js and tried to catch the event object inside the onBlur event, but it travels empty. Printed the offsetX property and is undefined. Looks like the event doesn't exist anymore. either way, it prevents that the list closes but, If I click outside the area, the list now doesn't close. And that's kinda of issue too
Anyone with this same issue? Any idea?

I was having the exact issue yesterday, but after doing some r&d I got a pretty handy fix for this.
By default this script was hiding the result div (Suggestion List) on the blur event on the search text box so as soon as we click on result div's scroll bar focus gets lost from input element & result div closes. So I did a small edit in controls.js to change the behavior of script, so now result div close method doesn't invoke on blur (focus out) from input element but triggered on the click on the document except the text input element.
For your convenience I've put the edited controls.js here.
If you like to know what has changed in JS file, here it is;
Added a event listener to the document. Just below this line
"Event.observe(this.update, "keypress", this.onKeyPress.bindAsEventListener(this));"
Event.observe($(document), "mouseup", this.onMouseup.bindAsEventListener(this));
Added a new onMouseup method.

Nativescript Android - hide keyboard

In my Nativescript app, the application starts with the login page. On iOS everything looks good, but on android, the username field is focused and the keyboard is showing. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
So far I have tried:
Getting a reference of another element (a label) and calling lbl.focus() in the page's onLoaded event
getting a reference of the username textfield and calling txt.dismissSoftInput() and txt.android.clearFocus()
None of this worked. Is there another way to hide the keyboard when the page is loaded?

I guess the username field is either textview or textfield. If so, try this on loaded callback:
var myTextview = page.getViewById("myTextView");
myTextView.dismissSoftInput();
So I ended up implementing a different solution. This may not be the best approach, but it serves its purpose in my case and I wanted to share it for those of you that face a similar scenario.
in page's loaded event I included this code:

The key here is the setTimeout function (Thanks Emil Oberg for pointing me to the right direction). As far as I understand, here is what is happening:
The page loads and we call setFocusable(false) on the only 2 text fields to prevent Android from setting the focus on them
Then we wait 300ms to allow Android to do its initialization
When the timeout executes, call setFocusableInTouchMode(true) to allow the fields to gain focus.
At this point the page is loaded without any fields to be in focus and with the keyboard hidden. If the user taps any of the fields the keyboard will appear and they can proceed to log in as usual.
As I mentioned, this may not be the best, or correct, approach, but works for me. Hope this can save someone the time to research the issue.
You want to clear the focus of the field in the loaded callback:

how does Jasmine 'expect' waits for a protractor promise to resolve

I'm working on e2e testing.
I have a confirm pop which doesnt exist on the page till I click a button.
Once the confirm popup is create I get the text from an element there.
After that I click on OK button which causes the confirm popup to be delete from the DOM and also add a new element to the DOM with the value i got the text earlier.
the problem is, because getText() returns a promise, by the time I do the comparison the first element is not present on the screen and the test fails.
if I do expect while the confirm popup on the screen I can see the text of the confirm popup element.
how does Jasmine expect() resolve the promise?

Here all promises are explicitly resolved, so Jasmine does not need to resolve any promise anymore.
You can let expect resolve the new-element promise, replacing the last two lines by:
....
expect(element(by.id('new-element')).getText()).toBe(textToConfirm);
....
But you cannot get the textToConfirm in the same expectation, since it is gone by then as you indicated.
This should be the simplest way to do what you want:

how to make a phonegap selectable scrollable div list

As the title says. I want to make a list of div elements inside a div. I want to be able to scroll the list up and down, and when the list is not scrolling anymore, i want to be able to click the listed elements do to something. I cant figure out how to do this.
the touchmove event executes whenever the user touches the div, even if the div its scrolling. THen i cant figure out how to make let the program know that the div isnt scrolling anymore, so the next touch on the elements will trigger a non scrollable event.....

what i have so far is this... However this is a quick "fix" and its not working as intended. For example if you scroll quickly up and down, then the div will think you pressed on one of the elements..

Ok so i finally figured this one out.. Reason why i couldnt wrap my minds around the solution on this, was because i couldnt get other events then eventstart and event end to work... At the time of writing i still cant get the other events like eventcancel and eventleave to work. However eventmove works and i solved the problem using this event. eventmove keeps updating the element its linked when you move your finger. Then i had a variable of touchmove to constantly be true if i am scrolling my div (with touchmove event). WHen i stop moving i can clik on selected element again and use a normal eventstart event.. This is my working code:

Slickgrid - Lost focus to end edit

When editing my grid, if I click outside the grid, the box I was editing is still editable. How do I get the edited cell to "complete" the edit when it looses focus?
The following code will save the current edit.

You'll need to place this inside an event handler that you think should trigger the save. For example, if you're using the sample text editor plugin, I believe an editor-text CSS class is added to the input field that's created when you're editing a cell so something like this should work:

I found that I needed to wrap clav's handler in a timeout:

to avoid errors like:
Uncaught NotFoundError: An attempt was made to reference a Node in a context where it does not exist.
when using the keyboard to navigate. Presumably the new blur handler fires before SlickGrid can do its own handling and this causes problems.
Unfortunately, probably due to differences in event processing, Grame's version breaks keyboard navigation in chrome.
To fix this, I added another check to only commit the edit, if the newly focused element is not another editor element within the grid (as the result of keyboard navigation):

This seems to work in current versions of firefox, chrome and ie.

jQuery click event behaves differently with live function in Firefox

Using the event click with live function leads to strange behavior when using Firefox*.
With live in Firefox, click is triggered when right-clicking also! The same does not happen in Internet Explorer 7 neither in Google Chrome.
Example:
Without live, go to demo and try right clicking
the paragraphs. A dialog menu should
appear.
With live, go to demo and try right
clicking "Click me!". Now both dialog
menu and "Another paragraph" appear.
*tested with firefox 3.5.3
As far as I know, that is a known issue (bug?). You can easily work around it by testing which button was clicked as follows:

you might prefer using a switch depending on your specific requirements, but generally you would probably just want to do nothing (or or simply return) if any button other than the left button is clicked, as above:

I think it's a known "bug", you could potentially query the event object after attaching the click handler ( which gets attached to the document ) and see if its a right click, otherwise manually attach the click handler after you manipulate the DOM.
After looking it up, e.button is the property you want to query:

See my answer here: if you don't mind changing the jQuery source a bit, adding a single line in the liveHandler() works around the problem entirely.
