I'd like to use Qt inside the visual studio IDE, however whenever I create a new project and select the Qt template an error pops up:
Cannot find 'file:///D:/programs_on_d//Nokia/Qt4VSAddin/wizards/HTML/1033/default.html'. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct.
Yet when I browse to D:\progams_on_d\Nokia\Qt4VSAddin\wizards\Qt4GuiProject\html\1033, I do see the default.htm just there..
What am I doing wrong and how can I fix this?
Well seems to be depending on the phase of the moon - the problem just disappeared some time later. (Without any update occuring)

I am currently working on a new unity project and to be honest i am new at this.
I need to use the InputSystem package but Visual studio does not recognize it.
This is the version of my VS. Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2019 Version 16.9.3 and the version of Unity is 2020.2.1
As you can see by the picture, my VS already knows that I am working in a Unity project.
So the first thing that I tried doing is to regenerate project files but it didnt work. I also selected my VS as my default external script editor.
This is my external tools.
I re-installed VS using unity hub but nothing happend.
Do you have any suggestions? I followed some tutorials I saw over the internet but I am still getting no positive results and to be honest, I am getting out of ideas.
Just tested out the package installation. I installed the package in a fresh, empty Unity project. Here are the steps that I went through which worked in my case:
Locate the Input System package in the Package Manager
Click install
A warning prompt will appear, click yes
Unity Editor should now get re-launched on it's own, wait for that to happen
If Visual Studio is open, close it
Open Visual studio - right click on the Assets folder and select Open C# project
UnityEngine.InputSystem namespace should now be available, if not, re-open Visual Studio one more time

So I'm new to Unity and I'm watching a few tutorials to learn the basics. Something that got my attention is that in the videos they have an autocomplete and while I've got it too, it gives too few options. For instance it doesn't show the Debug or any of its properties. It runs fine but it's really annoying.
I don't know if it's related but it also lacks some coloration. Like in the videos Debug is colored orange but mine is not colored differently from the rest.
Not sure about your VS version and Unity version, but please update them if possible. For example, you have VS2017 15.8 and Unity 2018.1, then please update them to VS2017 15.9.17 and Unity2018.3.8 or higher.
And it seems to be one similar issue like this report in DC. You can find details from Sebastien Lebreton for trouble-shooting the issue there.
Make sure:
Visual Studio is set as your external script editor in Unity (Edit/Preferences/External Tools)
Visual Studio plugin is installed in Unity (Help/About must display a message like Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Unity is enabled at the bottom).
Then check that the extension is properly installed in Visual Studio (Help/About).
You can try:
backup your project
quit both VS and Unity
remove all generated sln/csproj
remove the hidden .vs folder in VS Solution folder
remove the Library folder
re-open the project with Unity
In Unity, use Assets/Open C# Project to open that in Visual Studio
In addition to Lance Li-MSFT's answer I happened to observe this: When you create a new script (for example with "Add Component" -> "New Script") and then try to open it directly, this can happen. So after you created your script, give unity a few seconds to compile and then open it. For scripts that are opened to early, I did not manage to fix them. They just won't show IntelliSens hints, otherwise they work perfectly normal.
Just spent some time solving this
(VS 2022 community, Unity 2020.3.30f).
It happens that by defaut in Unity
Edit \ Preferences \ External tools
"External script editor" is set to "Open file by extension".
And script does open in VS 2022, and script compiles in Unity after editing, but it does not create .vs folder with all project related stuff.
So intellisence just did not kick in to Unity.
But after I set "External script editor" to Visual Studio, it started to work
(hints and coloration).
In my WCF project at Vs 2015 when I add break point for debugging I got this message:
the breakpoint will not currently be hit no symbols have been loaded for this document.
I do googleing and none of other's answer worked for me !!!
for example: Right click the Solution in solution explorer, click "clean solution", this deletes all the compiled and temporary files associated with a solution.

If your solution is having shared projects with other solutions which is also open then close the other solution. Then clean the solution and restart Visual Studio. Then do rebuild (rather than build, though it is cleaned).

I finally got what is my problem. I have a big mistake. I decide write that , where was my problem because maybe it is helpful for other developer.
I fresh installed windows and after that I installed VS 2015. because I did not install IIS , Vs used of IIS Express. this is was my problem. for solve that, I installed IIS and then in properties of my project and Web section and server part I select Local IIS and then Create virtual directory. now my problem gone.
Right Click the Project and click properties.
Under Build the Active Configuration should be set to Debug.
While running the code with F5 or Play button.
Make sure Debug is selected instead of Release in the drop down next to Play button.
I put myself in a stupid situation.
I remember setting this, and it was a bad idea...
In the Attach to Process dialog, I had the Attach to: set to the older Managed setting 3.5, 3.0, 2.0.
when I should have been using Managed (4.6, 4.5, 4.0). I'm actually using 4.7, but this works for me.

The Autodesk ObjectARX project wizards fail to create projects in visual studio professional. I only see in the status bar at the bottom that it has failed. How can I tell what's wrong?
I've checked the visual studio logs (using devenv.exe /log) with nothing reported. And I don't see any other logs. What else can I do?
I should add that there should be a ui, but nothing appears. It fails right away.

You should put the ObjectARX folders (inc, lib or so) to "C:\ObjectARX".
Another place is unacceptable.
I had the same problem because on wizard 2018 installation leave field "Registered Developer Symbol" empty. Then on using wizard you can change this symbol to any other.
Other name for ObjectARX directory allow successfully install wizard 2018 but then will be problem in project settings where this path hardcoded as c:\ObjectARX. So better use c:\ObjectARX.
I have Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate on Windows 7 Enterprise running on a x86 box. I cannot create any C++ project from VS although I can create C# project. On the new project dialog I press OK button and nothing happens. I don't get any error but no solution or project is created either. Not sure if it helps but I log in as Administrator. Any ideas?
Did you check the thing called C++ runtimes which is required by VS to run properly?
I guess the idea to reinstall is good.
This will even repair some missing or corrupt which may have been accidentally deleted or corrupted.
Most probably you did not check the C++ language option during installation. If you re-run the Visual Studio installer and check the C++ language option (maybe choose custom setup to make sure you see the option and are able to include it), everything will run file.
In case you already did that, there might be a problem with the C++ project type registration in VS. Please come back to this forum if you still have problems after re-installation.
