I am trying to set ConsumeContainerWhitespace using the Report Designer in Visual Studio 2008, but I can't find the property in the GUI. Since I can't find it, I'm wondering if this is new to VS 2010. Is it possible to set this property in VS 2008? If so, how is it done?
You can set this property using the VS2008 GUI. Just click on the report surface and hit F4 to bring up the properties window, and then select "Report" in the object selector at the top of the window. You should then see the ConsumeContanierWhitespace property. (see the screen shot below).
For those who have Visual Studio 2012
Click on the Report1.rdlc and it will open in the VS 2012
Click Outside the Report1.rdlc and PRESS F4 it will open Properties.
there you will find the ConsumeContainerWhiteSpace property.

Can I somehow use search in Visual Studio 2017 properties window? In Embarcadero RAD Studio there is a searchbar in properties as well as it is possible to type the first letter of property and jump to it. Is there something like this in visual studio 2017? I have found this answer with this screenshot, but there is nothing like in my IDE, and I can't find an option to turn it on.
I like to display the results of the right-click > "Find All References" command of Visual Studio 2017 in a floating window and close the window when I'm done. However, every time I close the "references" window and then invoke "Find All References" again, the results are again docked to the bottom of the IDE. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
This works by default with Visual Studio 2019.
With visual Studio 2017 15.9.12 the behavior is like you describe and I see no way to change this.
I recently moved to a new PC, and my visual studio is now showing all variables in some sort of memory address mode. Normally I would just see the simple properties and values. I can't figure out how to turn this off and get the standard view.

Aw dude, so simple:
Close all instances of Visual Studio
Right-click on the Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 shortcut and go to its Properties
Go to the Compatibility tab and uncheck "Run this program in compatible mode for:" and say Apply
Now start Visual Studio and open the project. You should be able to debug it.
Is there any window in Visual Studio 2010 that can be used to find controls?
I want to see the list of all controls used in my project.
On top of the property window there is a dropdown menu where all the controls of the open file are listed and you can select them in there. This could be usefull if you have hidden controls not appearing on your form.
I accidentally deleted data tab in visual studio 2010 design mode. How can i bring it back??
You can retrieve any window under the View tab in VS, you're probably looking for the Solution Explorer
EDIT:
Right-click in your toolbox and select Show all or Reset toolbox
