Installing PhoneGap 1.5 templates for Visual Studio - windows-phone-7

I want to develop an app for windows phone using Phone Gap. The Phone Gap webpage indicates this in the installation instructions page (http://phonegap.com/start#wp):
Download the latest copy of PhoneGap and extract its contents. Navigate to the Windows Phone directory and copy the file PhoneGapStarter.zip to your templates folde
But in the current version THERE IS NO PHONEGAPSTARTER.ZIP file, so I can't install the Visual Studio templates, and so I can't create PhoneGapp apps on WP7. :-(
Anyone has had the same problem?
Thanks!

Check these links. callback-windows-phone is now moved to below links
https://github.com/apache/cordova-wp8
https://github.com/apache/cordova-wp8/blob/master/README.md
Hope this will help you out.
From the first link download & copy the file Cordova-1.5.0-Starter.zip to the folder : \My Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Templates\ProjectTemplates\

The PhoneGap project has been renamed to Cordova, however, the docs have not been updated. Download the zip file, then locate the following file from within this zip:
lib\windows\Cordova-1.5.0-Starter.zip
And add that to your project templates directory

I had to log out/in to Windows (not just restart Visual Studio) before the CordovaStarter was listed under Installed Templates/Visual C#/Silver Light for Windows Phone.

How to update web-installed Microsoft Visual Studio 2017 offline (saved layout)?

I have Visual Studio 2017 which was installed from the web.
Meanwhile, the corporate firewall rules changed and it's no longer possible to update the installation (download.visualstudio.microsoft.com is blocked).
At home I was able to download a complete Visual Studio 2017 layout to an external drive.
Now, how can I instruct Visual Studio Installer to use the external drive layout instead of trying to download from the web?
After googling a bit, I found some clues here and there, but never got a direct answer. I had to do some experiments until I found a very simple solution:
Open folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\VisualStudio\Packages\_Instances (or equivalent in your machine). This folder should contain a subfolder with the VS2017 instance GUID (from now on referred to as VS_GUID). Note: ProgramData is a hidden folder.
(Optional) Create a backup of file C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\VisualStudio\Packages\_Instances\{VS_GUID}\state.json in another directory of your choice.
Edit file C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\VisualStudio\Packages\_Instances\{VS_GUID}\state.json (note: VS_GUID is the sub-folder name found in step 1)
and change layoutPath to your local layout folder and installChannelUri to the full path to ChannelManifest.json (which should be present in the layout folder root).
Example (when layout path is D:\vs2017layout):
(...)
"layoutPath":"D:\\vs2017layout",
"installChannelUri":"D:\\vs2017layout\\ChannelManifest.json"
(...)
Save state.json and launch vs_professional_xxxxxxxxx.yyyyyyyy.exe (or equivalent) which is located in the layout folder. If it detects the updated installation files then the "download" progress should move to 100%.
This worked for me.

Unity3d generating an empty .sln file

I'm following the Hololens Developer 100 course from Microsoft. All goes well until I get to building. I follow the instructions exactly here and click build. It asks me to select a folder and I create a folder called "App" (per the instructions) and select that folder. When I finally hit build Unity seems like it's working fine but then two things go wrong:
1) The .sln file that's generated is not in the App folder, but in the parent project folder. The App folder is empty
2) When I open the .sln file, it's empty. The tutorial asks me to edit Package.appxmanifes, but I can't because it doesn't seem to have built.
Is there a configuration somewhere that's not correct? Perhaps Unity and VS aren't talking to eachother correctly? More Importantly, how do I fix it?
I had the same problem, for me it was that I didnt have the Windows 10 SDK installed as part of Visual Studio 2015 with Update 3, in the instructions there is a bit that says:
"If you choose a custom install, ensure that Tools (1.4) and Windows 10 SDK (10.0.10586) is enabled under Universal Windows App Development Tools node. All editions of Visual Studio 2015 Update 3 are supported, including Community."
If your hololens build completes successfully a file explorer window will pop open at the project level. If it fails you should find errors in the console tab of Unity.
The SLN file that is at the project level is a solution file that you can open in visual studio to edit unity code and attach to the unity editor to do real time debugging while running your solution in the editor. In fact if you click on a "CS" file in the project tab of Unity this is the solution that opens in visual studio.
The SLN file you are looking for is in the App folder. Once you open the SLN in visual studio set the configuration to Release and x86, and you should be able to target your build at either a "Remote Device" which is the hololens, or the hololens emulator if you have that installed.

Compiling iOS projects for Windows Phone with Visual Studio 2015

I attended a Microsoft presentation recently where the speaker said that it would be possible to compile an iOS project for Windows Phone with the upcoming Visual Studio 2015. Great!
So I got the new Visual Studio 2015 RC and installed everything - not to miss anything.
On a Mac an XCode project is a .xcodeproj file but it is actually a folder structure - and that's how Windows sees it. Inside this folder structure there's a file called project.pbxproj but it is not recognized by Visual Studio when I try to open an existing project.
So the question is, how do I open an XCode project in Visual Studio 2015?
It is not included by default as it is not yet finished,
https://dev.windows.com/en-US/uwp-bridges/project-islandwood
To open an Xcode project in Visual Studio is required to use the tool vsimporter.
This tool is present in open source bridge Project from Microsoft GitHub (https://github.com/Microsoft/WinObjC).
***Check the Readme file before to start
Using vsimporter
The vsimporter tool enables you to import your Xcode project into a new Visual Studio Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app project with Objective-C support.
To use the tool:
Download the prebuilt SDK from here and extract the files to a directory (for example c:\winobjc)
From a command prompt, navigate to the directory containing your Xcode project, for example c:\winobjc\samples\WOCCatalog
At the command prompt, run vsimporter.exe
c:\winobjc\samples\WOCCatalog> ..\..\bin\vsimporter.exe
A Visual Studio solution file is created in your current directory, double click this file to open your project in Visual Studio
Press Ctrl-F5 to build your app and run it on your PC.
You can also pass the -i option at the command line to run the vsimporter tool in interactive mode. Interactive mode lets you see and select the specific configurations of the Xcode project that you wish to import. By default vsimporter creates a Visual Studio solution that targets Windows 10. If you'd like to target Windows 8.1 (Phone or Store), use the -format option and specify one of winstore8.1, winphone8.1, or winstore10 (winstore10 is the default).
For help running vsimporter, use the -help option at the command line to see the full set of supported options.

Installing Farseer Physics Engine

I am trying to get farseer for Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 For Windows Phone. I downloaded farseer although I have not been able to find a bin folder inside of the downloaded files. The youtube video I was following to install it had locateds a bin folder, is this correct? How could I get farseer working in my wp7 projects?
If you've downloaded the "Farseer Physics Engine 3.5" zip, there should be a folder called obj that contains a "Windows Phone" directory. You may need to compile the project first, but in the .\obj\Windows Phone\Release\ there should be a dll containing Farseer for Windows Phone.
Start a new project in Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 and in your Solutions Window, right-click References -> add Reference -> Browse -> Navigate to the folder containing the dll and add it to your project.

Where can I acquire the Windows 6.0 Bootstrapper files for VS?

I've deleted the Windows 6 SDK folder and now my VS refuses to build my Deployment Project. I need to get the filed back to get working again.
Could not find required file 'setup.bin' in 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\ Windows\v6.0A \Bootstrapper\Engine'
I've searched around the internet and all I can find are posts which talk of a specific file being incorrectly deleted by their anti-virus programs, but no one's really offering those files!
Where can I get these Windows\v6.0A SDK files from?
Somebody suggested:
Okay, I did a repair install of VS and
that added the folders.
does that help?
This MSDN blog post has brought me to the download of Windows SDK. (a combination of Platform SDK and .NET Framework SDK)
That should re-create these folders.
