We're currently trying to deploy our Windows Phone 7 app to a phone, and need to register a app hub developer account in the process. We all have Dreamspark accounts associated with the college we all go to, but somehow the site doesn't recognize our accounts when we try to register (https://users.create.msdn.com/Register).
Another option is to pay the $80 to get an account, but we'd rather avoid that extra cost when we should be able to register for free.
Has anyone else experienced the same problem before?
Did you try logging in to your dreamspark and when trying to register on the app hub? I did not have any problems validating my dreamspark account. Check your email once you have login to dream spark and trying to associate your account to apphub.
Only registration #dreamspark is not sufficient..you will have to register yourself for publishing your app.Check out the link https://www.dreamspark.com/Student/Windows-Phone-7-App-Development.aspx !Go to option3 and click the link to get registered

We are currently attempting to publish an App on the Google Marketplace (aka Chrome Web Store).
My boss has paid the $5 developer fee using his Gsuite account, and when I log in to publish the app, it keeps requesting the $5 fee to be paid. We are both part of the same GSuite domain (rulerr.com). I'm guessing this means the payment is tied to his account specifically? Is there any way to get this tied to our Gsuite domain?
As a result of the way this works, if I end up publishing using my account can anyone delegated from my domain modify it? If I was to go on vacation/sick leave/move on to another company then noone in my organization would be able to modify the App details?
Would adding a shared mailbox account specifically for marketplace registration alleviate this issue?
Laurie,
You can create a Google Group and use that as the owner of your app.
https://developer.chrome.com/webstore/publish#set-up-group-publishing
Any member of that group will then be able to publish. (when they have paid the 5$ fee)
My company uses BizSpark and i had created an outlook mail to register there. But i can not remember that email address, our admin can see registered mails but we can only see my contact mail in there, not the microsoft account.
Is there a way to find the email name that I created for the bizspark account? I know its password but not the name.
Thanks.
Grab all possible information you may have about your account: old passwords, details registered like credit cards, basically everything possible linked to the account and contact Microsoft Support on the phone, explain your issue and provide all possible details to the agent, for sure they have a way to help you.
In the past, I experienced difficulties publishing password protected iOS apps. iOS representative were worried we were trying to ‘sell’ the content independently. Anyhow, we are thinking of deploying a password protected Windows app but we want to find out if Windows review process is strict about things like that (we don’t have any experience publishing on the Windows Store).
Thanks
I suppose by "password protected" app you mean an app which requires the user to have his own login credentials in order to fully access (or use) the app. In this case you will need to provide Microsoft with credentials to test the app during the certification process. Here's a quote from the certification requirements:
1.2 Your app must be testable when it is submitted to the Windows Store
If, for any reason, it is not possible to test some parts of your app,
your app may fail this requirement. For example, if your app requires
login credentials, provide us with a working demo account using the
Notes to Tester field. If your app requires access to a server, tell
us what we need to do to verify that it's working correctly. If your
app allows a user to add a gift card balance, give us a gift card
number that can be used in the testing.
I am making a very simple marketplace app using the new SDK (Oauth 2.0). One of the steps would be to automatically invite team members for a closed group so I would need access to team members (users in same domain) from the user that is starting the process going through the default "navigator icon in google navigation menu".
This is working fine, however it is only working for administrators (tried with both Directory API and Profiles data API).Is there a way to simply "read" the email from users without needing to have administrator rights? It seems quite an overkill to ask a user to be administrator just for the purpose of being able to invite his team members.
These email addresses are in the user contact list for example, when writing an email they are automatically there so it shoulnt be much of permission problem I guess. can anyone help a bit on how I can accomplish this? Maybe a different API that I have not found?
Very much appreciated,
Best regards,
Joao Garin
You can use "Service Accounts" to access the Directory API on behalf of the Administrator when any user accesses the App.
The Drive API has a really good set of samples here - https://developers.google.com/drive/delegation
This same technique will work with Admin SDK. The end result is the auth is not made on behalf of the user at the keyboard but as an authorized Service Account. This Service Account is authorized by the admin at the time of install.
I'm looking to publish an app which gives users the ability to register and login using my hosted database. The user will supply their name, email and password.
I'm wondering what I need to do in order to get the app certified for the marketplace - what disclaimers/notices must I ensure the user agrees to before the app is certifiable? I'm presuming if I don't handle this, it will be picked up by policy 2.8.
Have you many more tips for getting an app published to the marketplace? First time user, really want to have my app up and running within the next month!
Thanks,
Gerard.
