How can I change my array's indices to start from 1 instead of 0. I am trying to fetch news from a site (JSON) and after parsing it:
#news = JSON.parse(Net::HTTP.get(URI.parse('http://api.site.com/news?format=json')))
But to see the individual news title, I have to do #news["items"][0] for the first link's title. Is it possible to change that behavior so when I do #news["items"][1] it shows me the first link's title?
You should intercept user input and adjust entered value to map to a correct array element. In general, you should always validate user input and check if it makes sense.

I have time for example I have in records time written in this way: 00:02:24 or 15:22:45, and now I want to make another column (hours), where can be values for example for time 02:43:22 is value 2, or for time 23:22:14, is value 23 and so on. But I don't know how can I do that, I tried number range, but unsuccessfully.
Here is a picture, how i want to be:
Thanks.
You can use the Modified JavaScript Value step.
I do not know which type is your Time.
If it is a String, a var Hour = Time.substr(0,2); will do.
If it is a Date, use var Hour = Time.getHour();.
If the type is something else, then convert in a String first.
To do this:
drag-and.drop the step Modified JavaScript Valueand link it to the data flow provider (in the example a Data grid).
edit this step and add your script. (Note that you can quickly add the input variable with a double click. Note also that clicking on the Transformation Function in the left menu gives you the list of available function additional to the Javascript built-in collection).
Click on the Get variable button, keep the variable you need (here Hour), and define/redefine its type (here String).
That's done: OK and preview.
If needed, adapt to the type of your input flow. For example Hour = Hour+'' to force a type conversion into a String.
When setting repeated content in a section in Orbeon each control is repeated and the their names are the same. How do I access the the control from the first, second...etc instance of a control from each iterated section? I'm thinking along the lines of $control-name[instance#] or something similair.
The following works, given this form:
$name[2]: return the second value
string-join($name, ', '): join all values with commas
count($name): return the number of values
See also the relevant documentation.
To access this value in "bind" section, you can use a relative path , like ../name=''.
TO access this value in "body" section, then you can use context()/../name.
If you are trying to make anything different, be more specific and this answer can be edited to be according to what you want.
I got a problem using the TinyWebDB in App Inventor 2. Here's a Screenshot of the blockcode.
The goal of this Screen is to store a list(array) of images and later query them with a button but my problem starts already earlier. First there is a variable initialized called fotoList and declared as an empty list.
When this Screen initializes (left block) I store the empty fotoList under the tag FotoListTag. Then if the image under the tag "SteckbriefFoto" is not in this list -> getValue with tag "FotoListTag". Then he jumps into the block on the right and adds the photo .. other stuff not important .. at the end I store the list again in the TinyWebDB (and also in the TinyDB) with the tag "FotoListTag". Then it goes back to the block on the left where at the end I want to set an image.picture to the photo I stored in variable fotoList.
When I compile the code there is an error opening the page that says
Select list item: List index too large
Select list item: Attempt to get item number 1 of a list of length 0:()
I just don't get the problem with this code and i hope someone can help me.
For lists, valueIfTagNotThere should be create empty list instead of an empty string
On first run of your app, TinyDB is empty, which means, for tag = FotoListTag you get no value back, therefore this should be an empty list in the beginning.
Later you are trying to select the first item from the list (zahl is 1). As you know, the list is empty in the beginning, so probably you should add an if statement to check, if the list is not empty and only then select the first item... same for tag = Schriftlist.
You also have a timing issue. in Screen.Initialize you are trying to get a value from TinyWebDB. This is an asynchronous call, you get the result back in TinyWebDB.GotResult event and this takes a little bit (let's say 500 milliseconds), but meanwhile the complete blocks of the Screen.Initialize event will be executed. Probably you are expecting, that meanwhile tag = FotolistTag is not empty anymore, but this is not the case.
Been looking all over the place for a solution to this issue. I have a Yahoo Pipe (http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.info?_id=e5420863cfa494ee40e4c9be43f0e812) that I've created to pull back image content from the Bing Search API. The URL builder includes a $skip attribute that takes an integer and uses it to select the starting (index) point for the result set that the query returns.
My initial plan had been to use the math engine in the Wolfram Alpha API to generate a random number (randomInteger[1000]) that I could use to seed the $skip value each time that the pipe is run. I have an earlier version of the pipe where I was able to get the query / result steps working using either "XPath Fetch" and "Fetch Data". However, regardless of how I Fetch the result, the response returns as an attribute / value pair in a list item.Even when I use "Emit items as string" in XPath Fetch, I still get a list with a single item, when what I really want is the integer that I can plug into my $skip attribute.
I've tried everything in Pipes I can think of, and spent a lot of time online looking for an answer. Is there anyway to extract text (in this case, a number) from a single list item and then use the output as input to "wire" a text parameter in another Pipes block? Any suggestions / ideas welcome. In the meantime, I'm generating a sorta-random number by manipulating a timecode hash, but it just feels tacky :-)
Thanks!
All the sources are for repeated items. You can't have a source that just makes a single number.
I'm not really clear what you're trying to do. You want to put a random number into part of the URL string that gets an RSS feed?
I have a very poorly coded JSP that I am trying to run automation on. There are a series of checkboxes with names (no IDs) of "delete[x]" where X is the item number of the item populated. I am trying to select all the checkboxes so I can delete every entry. Here is what I have
check_boxes = []
check_boxes.push(#browser.checkbox(:xpath, "//input[contains(#name,'delete')]"))
puts check_boxes.size
check_boxes.each do |check_box|
check_box.set
The problem with this is it only selects the first instance (node) that matches the xpath to dump into the array. I know I can iterate through the xpath adding an index to the node, and then put a rescue in that drops me out when the index goes out of bounds, but that seems like the dirty way to do it.
I know there is an "as" tag that gets a set of anchors and i was wondering if there was a method like that for taking the whole selection of checkboxes
I don't think the problem is the xpath itself. It is the #browser.checkbox that is causing only the first checkbox to be returned.
If you want all matching checkboxes, you should use (notice the plural):
#browser.checkboxes
Note that checkboxes returns a collection of checkboxes. Unless you are doing something really fancy, you usually do not need to convert it to an array.
You can simply do:
#browser.checkboxes(:name => /delete/).each do |checkbox|
checkbox.set
end
