I'm using underscore and backbone on a multi page site with a couple of underscore templates on each page. On my main view(cshtml) I load one javascript template like this http://cl.ly/GpFT and on my second view(cshtml) I use the same script setup but the javascript template is missing and then I get an error like this http://cl.ly/Gnrc
When I minify my scripts this will cause the script to abort. Is it possible to solve this in a nice way or do I need to load exactly the templates and scripts needed for each and every page?
You don't tell us what your views look like so I'll assume that you're doing something like this:
var V = Backbone.View.extend({
template: _.template($('#some-id').html()),
//...
});
and your views are raising TypeErrors when you're loading them. If there is no #some-id in the DOM, then you'll be saying _.templates(null) and that doesn't make any sense. An easy way around this to compile the template in the view's constructor instead:
var V = Backbone.View.extend({
initialize: function() {
this.template = _.template($('#some-id').html());
//...
},
//...
});

I extend a Control to create a new custom control in UI5 and this control renders a tree as UL items nicely. Now I need to implement a collapse/expand within that tree. Hence my renderer writes a tag like
<a class="json-toggle" onclick="_ontoggle"></a>
and within that _ontoggle function I will handle the collapse/expand logic.
No matter where I place the _ontoggle function in the control, I get the error "Uncaught ReferenceError: _ontoggle is not defined"
I am missing something obvious but I can't find what it is.
At the moment I have placed a function inside the
return Control.extend("mycontrol",
{_onToggle: function(event) {},
...
Please note that this event is not one the control should expose as new event. It is purely for the internals of how the control reacts to a click event.
I read things about bind and the such but nothing that made sense for this use case.
Took me a few days to crack that, hence would like to provide you with a few pointers.
There are obviously many ways to do that, but I wanted to make that as standard as possible.
The best suggestion I found was to use the ui5 Dialog control as sample. It consists of internal buttons and hence is similar to my requirement: Render something that does something on click.
https://github.com/SAP/openui5/blob/master/src/sap.ui.commons/src/sap/ui/commons/Dialog.js
In short, the solution is
1) The
<a class="json-toggle" href></a>
should not have an onclick. Neither in the tag nor by adding such via jQuery.
2) The control's javascript code should look like:
sap.ui.define(
[ 'sap/ui/core/Control' ],
function(Control) {
var control = Control.extend(
"com.controlname",
{
metadata : {
...
},
renderer : function(oRm, oControl) {
...
},
init : function() {
var libraryPath = jQuery.sap.getModulePath("mylib");
jQuery.sap.includeStyleSheet(libraryPath + "/MyControl.css");
},
onAfterRendering : function(arguments) {
if (sap.ui.core.Control.prototype.onAfterRendering) {
sap.ui.core.Control.prototype.onAfterRendering.apply(this, arguments);
}
},
});
control.prototype.onclick = function (oEvent) {
var target = oEvent.target;
return false;
};
return control;
});
Nothing in the init(), nothing in the onAfterRendering(), renderer() outputs the html. So far there is nothing special.
The only thing related with the onClick is the control.prototype.onclick. The variable "target" is the html tag that was clicked.
I have tried to add justify plugin to be able to align text right, left or centre. But after following the instructions in the documentation (http://apostrophecms.org/docs/tutorials/howtos/ckeditor.html), I wonder if the plugin should be located in a specific folder (mine is at public/modules/apostrophe-areas/js/ckeditorPlugins/justify/), as it disappears when the site is loaded, but if I include it in some other folder such as public/plugins/justify still doesn't work.
This is my code just in case: (located at lib/modules/apostrophe-areas/public/js/user.js)
apos.define('apostrophe-areas', {
construct: function(self, options) {
// Use the super pattern - don't forget to call the original method
var superEnableCkeditor = self.enableCkeditor;
self.enableCkeditor = function() {
superEnableCkeditor();
// Now do as we please
CKEDITOR.plugins.addExternal('justify', '/modules/apostrophe-areas/js/ckeditorPlugins/justify/', 'plugin.js');
};
}
});
Also, it would be nice to know how the plugin should be called at the Toolbar settings for editable widgets.
Thanks!
The URL you need is:
/modules/my-apostrophe-areas/js/ckeditorPlugins/justify/
The my- prefix is automatically prepended so that the public folders of both the original apostrophe-areas module and your project-level extension of it can have a distinct URL. Otherwise there would be no way for both to access their user.js, for instance.
I'll add this note to the HOWTO in question, which currently handwaves the issue by stubbing in a made-up URL.
As for how the plugin should be called, use the toolbar control name exported by that plugin — that part is a ckeditor question, not really an Apostrophe one. But looking at the source code of that plugin they are probably JustifyLeft, JustifyCenter, JustifyRight and JustifyBlock.
It turns out that it's not enough to simply call CKEDITOR.plugins.addExternal inside apostophe-areas. You also need to override self.beforeCkeditorInline of the apostrophe-rich-text-widgets-editor module and explicitly call self.config.extraPlugins = 'your_plugin_name';.
Here's what I ended up with:
In lib/modules/apostrophe-areas/public/js/user.js:
apos.define('apostrophe-areas', {
construct: function(self, options) {
// Use the super pattern - don't forget to call the original method
var superEnableCkeditor = self.enableCkeditor;
self.enableCkeditor = function() {
superEnableCkeditor();
// Now do as we please
CKEDITOR.plugins.addExternal('justify', '/modules/my-apostrophe-areas/js/ckeditorPlugins/justify/', 'plugin.js');
};
}
});
then in in lib/modules/apostrophe-rich-text-widgets/public/js/editor.js:
apos.define('apostrophe-rich-text-widgets-editor', {
construct: function(self, options) {
self.beforeCkeditorInline = function() {
self.config.extraPlugins = 'justify';
};
}
});
For some reason doing CKEDITOR.config.extraPlugins = 'justify' inside apostrophe-areas does not work, probably due to the way how CKEDITOR is initialized;
One more thing: this particular plug-in (justify, that is) does not seem to follow the button definition logic. It has button icons defined as images, whereas CKEditor 4.6 used in Apostrophe CMS 2.3 uses font-awesome to display icons. It means that the icons that ship with the justify module won't be displayed and you'll have to write your own css for each button individually.
There is another issue which you'll probably face when you finally enable the justify buttons. The built-in html sanitizer will be strip off the styles justify adds to align the content.
Apostrophe CMS seems to be using sanitize-html to sanitize the input, so changing CKEditor settings won't have any effect. To solve the issue, add the following to your app.js:
'apostrophe-rich-text-widgets': {
// The standard list copied from the module, plus sup and sub
sanitizeHtml: {
allowedAttributes: {
a: ['href', 'name', 'target'],
img: ['src'],
'*': ['style'] //this will make sure the style attribute is not stripped off
}
}
}
Thank you both for your help. After following both approaches of: locating the plugin at my-apostrophe-areas folder as well as editing editor.js on the apostrophe-rich-text widget (the sanitize.html file was already using that configuration), I got the plugin working. However, I was still having the issue with the icons.
I fixed that adding the Font Awesome icons that correspond to align-justify, align-right, align-left and align-center at the end of public/modules/apostrophe-areas/js/vendor/ckeditor/skins/apostrophe/editor.less
I'm working on a Kendo Mobile project with a number of:
Kendo Views (external to root html)
Modal Views (in the root html).
The external files load on demand and everything works fine. But i'd like to have the same load on demand behavior for some of the modal views, because the root/based html file is becoming too large and not manageable.
Is there a way to either:
Store a modal view in an external file? If so is it possible to load via javascript syntax (app.navigate()) rather than the declarative syntax (href='externalmodal').
Manually pre-load an external view without navigating to it first.
This code lets you manually create a view:
var viewUrl = 'blahblahblah';
var element = $.parseHTML('<div data-role=view>test</div>')[0];
element.style.display = 'none';
$(document.body).append(element);
var options = $.extend({}, kendo.parseOptions(element, kendo.mobile.ui.View.fn.options));
var view = new kendo.mobile.ui.View(element, options);
view.element[0].setAttribute('data-url', viewUrl);
kendo.mobile.application.navigate(viewUrl, '');
Depending on what features you use, you may need to instead use code similar that that used for ModalView below so that Kendo creates the subclass (changes: substitute View for ModalView, substitute view for modalview, add data-url, remove call to show(), maybe check that view not already created by checking for element with matching data-url). We haven't tested setting roles.view this way, but we did something similar while testing this stuff out and it worked.
Don't try settings the options - Kendo got confused (at least trying to set useNativeScrolling didn't work, also don't try setting the options object on the subclass unless you really know what you are doing).
Caveat: This was using browserHistory:false (which disables routing) when the kendo.mobile.Application was created. The technique should still work when using browser history if you use a valid url fragment (same as would be created by Kendo for the pushstate/hashchange url).
This is a also way to cleanly subclass kendo.mobile.ui.View that works well - although you must still use data-role=view even though your subclass is a "different" component. Note that you can't just use you cant use your own subclassed component with its own name like role=myview to subclass a view because there are hard-coded checks specifically for data-role=view in the kendo codebase. Same if you wish to subclass: layout modalview drawer splitview page (amongst other hard-coded kendo ui component names - search kendo code for kendo.roleSelector - ugly). e.g.
MyView = kendo.mobile.ui.View.extend({
init: function(element, options) {
kendo.mobile.ui.View.prototype.init.apply(this, arguments);
...
var myView = new MyView('<div data-role=view>test</div>');
Why it works: The relevant function in the Kendo source code is _findViewElement which does element = this.container.children("[" + attr("url") + "='" + urlPath + "']"); to see if the view already exists for a url, before creating a new one. A unique init function is always required as it ends up being the constructor function.
If you want to subclass a modalview, you need to do something different due to the way kendo works:
var MyModalView = kendo.mobile.ui.ModalView.extend({
html: '<div data-role=modalview style="width:90%;display:none;">Foobar</div>',
init: function() {
kendo.mobile.ui.ModalView.prototype.init.apply(this, arguments);
}
});
function makeModalView() {
$(document.body).append($.parseHTML(MyModalView.prototype.html));
var roles = $.extend({}, kendo.mobile.ui.roles);
roles.modalview = MyModalView;
var modalView = kendo.initWidget($(element), {}, roles);
modalView.open();
return modalView;
}
I'm having some trouble integrating the appear-plugin for jQuery with my Knockout viewmodel. My first attempt only involved a single appear-item and a single global action but now I have multiple number of items to appear on and multiple action to trigger. I was thinking of making a binding-handler for this purpuse which could be used like this:
<div class="loadMoreTrigger" data-bind="appear: loadMore" data-appear-top-offset="200" />
My skills with custom bindinghandlers is very limited, and maybee there is existing code for this already? Haven't found any...
Would this be possible at all? And the right way of doing it? (I'm trying to lazy load items)
This is what I have now:
ko.bindingHandlers.appear = {
init: function (element, valueAccessor) {
$(element).appear();
var action = valueAccessor();
$(element).on("appear", action);
}
};
But it doesn't work...
I am new in using jquery. I am trying add in the simplemodal.js (Eirc Martin's simple modal) a function called 'jBox' that will take the data (ie link) and options and using ajax will load the content into the modal container. This way I want on my pages in several places easy call this function
jBox = function(address, options){
$.get(address, function(data) {
$.modal(data);
});
};
});
The code is working fine, but i would like to add a loading image before the content is fully loaded. There is a lots of similar posts about loader/ spinner in simplebox but none of the works for me.
I was trying following code
$('#test').load('<img src="loader.gif">').html(data);
$('#test').modal();
But, some way, it doesnt work for me. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Thanks
I use the ajaxStart and ajaxStop events.
$("body").on({
ajaxStart: function() {
$(this).addClass("loading"); // so page knows it's in loading state
// .. your modal code
},
ajaxStop: function() {
$(this).removeClass("loading"); // not it loading state anymore
// .. What you should do if loading is done. (eg. hide modal)
}
});
In this case I set the body class to 'loading'. So you can do some magic in css if you like.
I tend to use it to disable forms as well.
body.loading div.some-class {
// your special style for during loading
}
