People Picker for MVC3 - asp.net-mvc-3

I am looking for People Picker Control similar to SharePoint one for MVC3 applications.
Can you please suggest if there are any such controls available?
What is the best approach to pick the people from AD in MVC3?
Requirement: On one of the Views, I need to select a user from AD.
I was thinking about People Picker kind of control.
Thanks
Arun

I know this is quite old so I doubt you still need this answered but perhaps it will be useful to someone else.
Just last week I had to build a control like does this for us. It's basically two main parts, a JSON service that accepts partial text and returns a list of suggestions and the HTML/CSS/jQuery+UI control.
The service is pretty straightforward so we'll skip over that here.
I'm in the process of doing a write-up on the web side but basically we wrapped the jQuery autocomplete with some custom CSS to make an input that is similar to the address line in GMail. This was done by styling a container div to look like a long input field. The actual input field is within that container and styled to be essentially invisible. Clicking in the container moves focus to the input box. Upon selecting a suggested name, I create a new container to insert before the 'cloaked' autocomplete input which contains the user name and a hidden input with our desired value to send along when the form is submitted. I had to do some other overloads on the autocomplete to get it to act consistently but essentially this is all there was to it.
The control looks at the container for a data-input-name attribute to figure out what 'name' to set the hidden inputs to when they are created with each user pick. When the form is submitted the default model binder rolls all the users of a particular picker (since you can have multiple on a page) into string arrays of the values - assuming your model has string array properties with the same name as used by the input controls - which we can then process on the server side.
By far the hardest part was figuring out the right HTML + CSS to get the look and feel right. I'm not a very strong UI person so this took me forever and still falls down in Chrome which seems to add an accent around input boxes even with (or because of?) styles which make it blend into the parent control.
For our purposes it's been working great over the last week.
UPDATE: It's now on GitHub with a Demo.

JFXtras Calendar Picker

I would like some samples of code to start using jfxtras calendarpicker, please.
I am writing a JavaFX app scheduler. I need to select multiple dates into an array or list, and would like to keep the calendar open while a user selects and deselects dates. Datepicker closes annoyingly after a selection, and I cannot extend the code to stop it as methods and fields are private :-(
The selections may need to be highlighted in different colors depending on type of selection. The jfxtras calendarpicker looks ideal :-)
I downloaded the jfxtras-icalendarfx-15-r2. jar from https://search.maven.org/search?q=g:org.jfxtras
I have read the javadoc, but would like some simple samples to start.
I don't think there is too much to put in examples; you just create the control add add it to a Pane. If you set
calendarPicker.setMode(CalendarPicker.Mode.MULTIPLE)
then you allow multiple calendars to be selected, which are available in the collection
calendarPicker.calendars()
And that basically is it. As the javadoc describes, you can prevent days from being selected using disabledCalenders, or highlight some using highlightedCalendars, both can be repopulated when the displayed range changes using setCalendarRangeCallback. And that is about it. It does not support different kinds of highlight, but I figure you can use CSS to do something with that. Not sure what your requirements are.
You can take a peek at the tests
https://github.com/JFXtras/jfxtras/blob/11/jfxtras-controls/src/test/java/jfxtras/scene/control/test/CalendarPickerTest.java
I would suggest looking at LocalDatePicker or LocalDateTimePicker instead of Calendar though. Same functionality but using the new DateTime API.
And alternative would be JFXtras agenda.

Composite Fields In MSCRM 2013

I have a question on the subject of composite attributes that I would be grateful if you could help me with.
I posted this before on other question blogs but got no response I am satisfied with.
I am writing JavaScript that will update the fields (i.e. address1_line1, address1_line2, address1_line3, address1_city, address1_stateorprovince, address1_postalcode, address1_country) in the composite (address1_composite). When the fields are updated the composite does not seem to update. I have to open the composite and close it again. Is there a way of doing this automatically in JavaScript?
I have tried the following ideas:
Idea 1:
Xrm.Page.data.entity.save();
This is recomended at http://community.dynamics.com/crm/b/magnetismsolutionscrmblog/archive/2013/10/22/working-with-dynamics-crm-2013-composite-fields-fly-out-menu.aspx
This is not any good as my customers want to view the composite before saving the page. Also I would not want to save the page for my customers as they do not want this. They would like to decide when to do this themselves.
Idea 2:
Xrm.Page.data.refresh();
This is not really what I wanted as I do not want to refresh the whole page. I just want to refresh the composite. Also it bring up a popup that warns you about not having saved the page which will be annoying for my customers.
Idea 3:
Writing the address from the address lines to the composite.
This feels like a nasty hack.
There is probably more than one way of doing this. I used the function
Xrm.Page.getAttribute("address1_composite")._attribute.setValueForCompositeField();
I do not like this for the following reasons:
This is a hack as it is not using the system functionality of the done button to write the data.
You do not get the system formatting you get with the done button although this will get done when the form is saved so it is not so bad.
In the future if customers are allowed to add their own composite fields it could cause problems as the field names could be different.
It requires me to write extra code for each form that has a composite which has fields with different schema names. E.g. I have to write different code for forms with ShipTo and BillTo addresses as the code for the account form will not work.
Another idea was to set the focus to the composite field after a change has been made to any of the fields inside the composite.
Xrm.Page.data.entity.attributes.get("address1_composite").controls.get(0).setFocus();
This is the best idea so for but it is far from perfect. This forces the user to press the done button and hence the fields will be written. I was hoping for something more automated.
My Question:
What would be great is if there was a way to click the composite done button in JavaScript. This would give me the formatting of the done button and the automation I need.
Update - 14/04/2014
Since posting this question I have been in contact with Microsoft and they say there is no supported way of clicking the done button via a program.
If the field is locked down CRM JavaScript does not send the data back to the server for updating. Another approach would be:
perform the update using JavaScript (so the user sees the change); and
use a server side plugin on the Update event so the value is persisted.

AngularJS: "Global" menu buttons for multiple views

I've (very) recently dived into Angular, but I'm struggling a bit with how to design my layout.
For my site I've created a menu containing an input field and some buttons. The idea is that the input field combined with either of the buttons should service a function. So say for viewA, the input field should only act as a search bar. If the user however clicks one of the buttons the input field value should be used to as a basis to create a new item in another viewB.
The search function works great for viewA, but I'm unable to make the buttons switch views. I'm suspecting (or know, but don't know how to address it) this is because the mentioned buttons are outside the view (ng-view) and thus don't have a controller.
I've searched around for "multiple controllers / views", where suggestions vary from using the include function or create a service. Problem is I have no idea what would best practise or if it's even necessary for my case.
The menu + input field is another view. It should have its own controller. Based on the route – $on($routeChangeSuccess, ...) – you can use ng-switch to switch between the appropriate HTML/template in that view. If your templates are large, you can use ng-include inside the ng-switch directives. Otherwise don't bother, and just in-line the HTML inside each ng-switch-when.
For an example of how so use $routeChangeSuccess (but not ng-switch), see https://stackoverflow.com/a/11910904/215945

How to insert multiple rows into embedded view from a subform? Lotus Notes

I have a section that contains a subform ( containing 3 editable fields for the user ).
Then I have an embedded view categorized having two actions: Add and Trash.
What i want to do: After the user complete the 3 fields and then press Add, the first row in the embedded view will appear. ( This easy thing I did ). But then after the first click on Add, I want that all the 3 fields to be refreshed, all of them to have as their value: "".
After, if the user wants to add another row into the embedded view (with different values), in my case it is overwrited on the 1st row. I want to be separate rows in order.
I tried something with #Command(ViewRefreshFields) into the Add action code but I didn't make it to work. Please help, J. U.
Jazir, I'm guessing that you also go by the names "Florin G Mihalache", "Josh Mitchell" and "Yveniss Ltoreau", and I've been following the development of your application along with many other professional Notes developers.
I really think you need to go back to the very first basics, and work out the difference between forms, subforms, documents, views, embedded views, and other important components of Lotus Notes databases.
I strongly suspect that for a couple of weeks you have been trying to use a form to create other documents, via a subform, to be displayed in an embedded view in that form, when what you should be using is just a view, and documents. Perhaps you might need to use pages, outlines and framesets. It is very important that you understand these basic concepts before confusing the people who have tried to help you, to whom you may have lied.
I have voted your question down, not just because you have shown a lack of research, but because you appear to keep switching ID when people lose patience with you. I will undo that vote if I become convinced that you are not Florin.
The documents displayed in an embedded view are controlled by the view's selection formula. You haven't shown that. You haven't shown your code in the Add button. You haven't shown what properties you have set on the embedded view -- e.g., show single category. So you're not giving us quite enough info to diagnose your problem and help you.
But in general, I think that if you want to control the order of insertion of individual documents into an embedded list, perhaps using an embedded folder would be a better idea than an embedded view.

Can I create quiz GUI with Django-Forms?

I'm new to django, and I'm working on a quiz project. The idea is to create something similar to this (http://www.stylemint.com/quiz). Basically, there will be a question on each page and the user clicks on an image with the answer. I was planning on using a django form with a radio select input type, however, I'd like the image to act as the radio button (ie, be clickable) and also a click on the image will take you to the next question (instead of having to click submit after each). Is this possible with django, or do I need java?
it's perfectly possible - if you just want a series of images, and clicking on them to take you to the next question you might achieve that by:
Having multiple input fields of type "image" which all submit the form. If you go down that route you'll have to template the forms out yourself or make your own widget.
Using javascript to replace radio buttons with images dynamically. If you do that, it'd be a good idea to make it fall back to a straight list selection for people who don't have javascript.
Ignoring forms altogether and just using a view with a parameter of what the choice is.
Yes, it's completely possible. My suggestion is if you want to save the result in the db use model and model form in django. So, my next suggestion is you can customize model field for combine radio button functionality and image together. But actually you must programming and use a little jquery and javascript to do it.
