Add flash animations to Xcode? - xcode

For my application, there are many features that need to include animations. For example, while loading a ViewController, I need the images and buttons that appear on the screen an intricate Animations that cannot be done in Xcode. So far, I have made only simple animations through Xcode such as shrinking images, buttons moving to a CGPoint, etc. Simple things. If I make these intricate animations in Adobe Flash or another animation software, is there anyway to incorporate it within my application?

Depending on the nature of your application, you could consider writing the application using Flash, and then use Adobe AIR to compile it to run natively on iPhone and iPad. Best of all, Adobe AIR could also compile it to run on Android, Blackberry Playbook and traditional Windows and Mac, so you can write once and run everywhere. By doing so, you can also take advantage of the animation power of Flash.

Apple dod not support flash on iphone or ipad.only youtube can be played. if you want to use any animation make a gif or use HTML5.

Making images as a background for every page might make your application laggy and bulky. I would rather suggest you use inbuilt options like the simple background color.
If you want to use images only then you can have different resolutions of the image as asset and using MediaQuery and LayoutBuilder you can change the image as per the size of the device.

Use native resolution in DrawingArea on HiDPI displays

I'm developing a cross-platform photo retouching application based on Gtk-2 (but already able to support Gtk-3 with minor modifications).
In my program, the result of the image retouching is previewed in a scrollable area that is implemented through a Gtk::DrawingArea inserted into a Gtk::ScrolledWindow. The drawing itself is performed using Cairo.
Recently I had the possibility to test the software on a MacBookPro laptop with retina display, and I've immediately realised that the preview image gets magnified by a factor of 2, like all the rest of the GUI elements.
Is there a way to tell Cairo and the DrawingArea to use the native screen resolution, instead of applying a 2x magnification? Is this supported in recent Gtk-3 versions?

Is it possible that WP7.x APP can use full space on 16:9 (720P)device

I have application Using WP7.x SDK. I am not using any Window Phone 8 feature.
My App's XAML Pages are fitting perfectly on WVGA and WXGA but on 720P on top of screen there is some blank space. How can i fix this problem (I don't want to create seprate build for Window Phone 8).Please advise.
Unfortunately, this is not possible. The WP7 apps running on WP8 devices are constrained in a 480x800 container.
To take advantage of the 720p screen, you'll have to build a WP8 version of your app.

Second thing that you have to do is render your Silverlight / XAML UI with XNA. More information about that from here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh221583.aspx
All of that is tested and works well but this will manipulate only rendering and not XAML input side, input fixing could be possible or not. Still difrense between those two aspect ratios is so small that result can be good enought.

Which controls to use for a Mac OS X application?

I developed some app for iPhone/iPad, so I know the basic concepts of Cocoa programming. Now I need to write a Mac OS X application. If you help me to choose the right controls to use, I'll study the Apple documentation reference for them.
I need:
a control to show a grid of thumbnails (png images); I'll be able to change the order of the thumbnails by dragging and dropping them;
a control to show a single image (e.g. UIImageView of Cocoa Touch) with the possibility to drag and drop another image over the first one; besides I need to move and resize the second image by dragging its corners (as if corners were "anchors");
a control to browse the media files on the Mac (possibly iPhoto images, iTunes DRM-free songs, or simply the content of a given folder), like the media browser of iMovie.
I use Xcode 4.2.
You can use NSCollectionView and co. for this. Xcode has a sample application somewhere in documentation (browsing various images) as well as tutorial on how to setup NSCollectionView yourself.
Check NSImageView. You can basically find any Cocoa control alternative to Cocoa Touch just by changing UI prefix to NS.
There is no such control per-se (unless IKImageBrowser for backgrounds), but using aforementioned NSCollectionView and some API for media files you should get around pretty quickly.
Also check ImageKit framework for images (for browsing, viewing and modifying).

GUI framework for automatic resizing

I want to build a desktop app where the size of both the window and the content is resized automaticly according to the resolution of the monitor. I know it can be done easily with the docking features of .NET Forms, but my customer insists on going with Linux so I can't use it.
I tried Flex & Air, but the content is not resized automaticaly when I put the app in fullscreen or in another resolution (the app goes full screen but I still have tiny buttons). Now, I am looking at Qt and Gtk...
Is there a GUI framework that can do that? I don't care about the programming language.
Also, since the app will go in a bar it would be nice to be able to customize easily the skin. (like in Flex, WPF, etc.)

An excellent place to start is understanding how the Screen class works: MSDN Even though that is .Net, it will give you an idea of how the screen size, dpi, etc. can be obtained. In addition that information should translate to the Mono platform. Since your client is insisting on Linux, you should look at MonoDevelop and then possibly the GTK# framework. My understanding is that GTK# is not a very friendly (that is pretty) development system (yet).
