How to disable auto hide the solution explorer (Visual Studio 2017)
(4 answers)
Closed 5 years ago.
I've noticed a new behavior since I updated my Visual Studio to -- I believe 15.4.2.
I like keeping my solution explorer pane pinned and open. When I start debugging, solution explorer pane is closing automatically and even after I stop debugging, it stays closed and unpinned. So I have to manually open and pin it again after each debug which is annoying.
Any idea what's causing this and how to fix it? I really don't want Visual Studio messing with my settings.
Please backup your SUO file and try running:
devenv /Resetsettings

Sorry i'm beginner ;)
Thanks for help. The problem is known for Microsoft, they're working on it.
For now, we must do that:
If we rename the
"Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestWindow.Core.resources.dll" to
"Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestWindow.Core.resources.dll.bak" in the
folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio
14.0\Common7\IDE\CommonExtensions\Microsoft\TestWindow\de" we can see at least the tests in the explorer (with banner).
This is the problem for VS who have installed language pack.

Visual Studio: Re-enable "Build failed, run last success?" dialogue box

I accidentally pressed Yes instead of No with enabled checkbox Don't ask again after I pressed F5 and there were errors.
I want to see errors after F5 instead of running last successfully built application if there are.

How can you stop Visual Studio rearranging its Windows when debugging
Whenever I start debugging an application, Visual Studio moves my cheese.
How can I make it leave my cheese alone?
The only solution is that you must arrange things twice. Afterwards it won't move "your cheese" except as you expected it.
Edit: duplicate of How can you stop Visual Studio rearranging its Windows when debugging
This is a "feature" actually. The presumption is that you would want a different layout when debugging (ie, watch windows visible in debug, but not coding). I don't think there's a way to prevent it other than going into debug and manually moving things to match your coding layout.

Pressing F1 in VS launches Microsoft's Document Explorer. How can I open the help results in my web browser instead?
Have a look in the Options, under Help / Online.
There you can select
- try online first, then local
And you can select multiple providers to search in.
