parsing xml file in javascript - ajax

AM developing a auto completion or suggestion box using AJAX and servlets . My problem is how to parse the XML response in java script to show it in a div tag.My xml response is like contains one parent tag RESULTS , it contains number of children tags called RESULT.
How to get result values in java script variables.

You could do this using jQuery.parseXML

Take look on this thread: Parse XML from XMLHttpRequest
I think it contains information you need.

Jmeter - Need to check empty tags in SOAP request

I have a SOAP request. I need to use jmeter to test multiple requests for same method, each time passing one missing element.
How can I achieve this ?
I tried writing the tags into csv using CSV data config , but I am unable to enter empty values in the csv, each time for a different tag in each csv row.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
The CSV Data Set Config will read the value from next line only on the next iteration of the thread (virtual user), you cannot read more than one line within the bounds of a single iteration. You might want to take a look at __CSVRead() function where it's you who decides when to proceed to the next line.
If the __CSVRead() function isn't applicable for your use case be aware that you can build a request body, i.e. XML from CSV file using JSR223 PreProcessor and Groovy language.
See Creating XML chapter of Groovy documentation for more details.

JMETER: Need to send all entries in a CSV file to HTTP request body in 'one' request

I'm trying to solve a test data issue in Jmeter. Can anyone of you have a look at below problem statement and advise here please ?
Requirement: Need to send all entries in a CSV file to HTTP request body in 'one' request to the end point.
Example CSV File:
"adsfas123wsf00000wqefqwe52145t10000",
"fdfrgvergq120947r0000dwsfqwaef237sadf",
"wfrqwef7865034r78tkahsefjh6985r7asfdaf",
"qefqwe52145t10000adsfas123wsf00000w",
"wsfqwaef237sadffdfrgvergq120947r0000d"
HTTP Request Body:
["${data}"}]
When the data is substituted, I should be able to get below output.
[
"adsfas123wsf00000wqefqwe52145t10000",
"fdfrgvergq120947r0000dwsfqwaef237sadf",
"wfrqwef7865034r78tkahsefjh6985r7asfdaf",
"qefqwe52145t10000adsfas123wsf00000w",
"wsfqwaef237sadffdfrgvergq120947r0000d"
]
Problem Statement: When I use CSV data set config. file, I'm unable to concatenate all entries into one single request body. My understanding is, CSV data set config. the file is not the right option here.
Did some search in StackOverflow and followed a method to achieve above using JSR223 PreProcessor' and the link is, How to send multiple json body using jmeter?.
Followed the above link and tried added below custom code provided.
def builder = new StringBuilder()
new File('/path/to/plans.csv').readLines().each { line ->
builder.append(new File(line).text).append(System.getProperty('line.separator'))
}
sampler.getArguments().removeAllArguments()
sampler.addNonEncodedArgument('', builder.toString(), '')
sampler.setPostBodyRaw(true)
Upon running, I get below error message,
Caused by: java.io.FileNotFoundException,
"adsfas123wsf00000wqefqwe52145t10000",
"fdfrgvergq120947r0000dwsfqwaef237sadf",
"wfrqwef7865034r78tkahsefjh6985r7asfdaf",
"qefqwe52145t10000adsfas123wsf00000w",
"wsfqwaef237sadffdfrgvergq120947r0000d" (The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect)
If the file is not found, then how come the entries are read and displayed in the log viewer?
Also, how do I link the output of custom code to the request body? Or is it taken care of by the custom code itself?
You have an error in your code, change this line:
builder.append(new File(line).text).append(System.getProperty('line.separator'))
to this one:
builder.append(line).append(System.getProperty('line.separator'))
If you want to send the full contents of the file you don't even need to go for scripting, you can use __FileToString() function right in the "Body data" tab of the HTTP Request sampler:
${__FileToString(/path/to/plans.csv,,)}
And last but not the least if you need to generate JSON from the plain text it might be a better idea to go for JsonBuilder class, see Apache Groovy - Why and How You Should Use It and Apache Groovy - Parsing and producing JSON
Two steps:
Add a User Parameter Pre-processor before the HTTP request:
Name: DATA
User_1: ${__FileToString(/path/to/plans.csv,,)}
Add the following to request body:
${DATA}

Jmeter - values from Regular expression extractor is not getting written in the file

I have added a regular expression as below in order to extract the response value inside the xml.
p400="http://newman.services.premium.hellocorp.com">(.+?)</p400:newman></soapenv:Body>
the reference name is "output_xml"
I have added a simple data writer as well and added "output_xml" to the sample variables in Jmeter properties file also. Still I am not able to see the xml getting written in the file.
Please advice me on this. Thanks!
I'm not sure, that it's possible with simple file writer, try FlexibleFileWriter plugin http://jmeter-plugins.org/wiki/FlexibleFileWriter/?utm_source=jpgc&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=FlexibleFileWriter
And have you checked, that this extractor works on your data?
Try to add Debug Postprocessor (ensure that "JMeter variables" is set true) and View Results Tree elements to you project and inspect variables.
The given xml formats
p400="http://newman.services.premium.hellocorp.com">(.+?)</p400:newman></soapenv:Body>
You need to update the following regex formats to extract the response values
Regular expression formats
http://newman.services.premium.hellocorp.com">(.+)</p

Obtain XML element's value from REST server response using Ruby

n00b REST question. I'm making a GET request to an API's endpoint and getting the proper XML response. The question I have is, how do I get the value of a particular XML element in the servers REST response using Ruby?
So let's say one of the elements is 'Body' and I want to assign its value 'Blah blah blah' to a variable
Part of the XML response:
<Body>Blah blah blah</Body>
How would I do that with the response? Basically I want to do something like this
variable = params["Body"]
Thanks in advance!
The best solution is to use RestClient or HTTParty and have it parse the response for you.
Otherwise, you'll have to parse the response itself using a library such as Nokogiri:
doc = Nokogiri.XML(response)
variable = doc.at("body").text
You'll want to use an XML parser of some kind.
It sounds like you want something like XmlSimple, which will turn an XML document into ruby arrays and hashes. There's tons of examples of how to use it on the page that has been linked.
One thing to be aware of is that XML to native container mappings are imperfect. If you're dealing with a complex document, you'll likely want to use a more robust parser, like Nokogiri.
If you want full XML Object Mapping, HappyMapper is a decent library, although it isn't very active anymore. It can work with XML from any source, so you'll still want something like the libraries mentioned by #Fitzsimmons or #MarkThomas to do the HTTP request.

Reading data from xml file

I have a currency converter application for iphone which uses web service. The web service is returning result in the following format:-
<Date>4/5/2010</Date>
<Time>7:18:09 AM</Time>
<Amount>20</Amount>
<ExchangeRate>44.7336419443466</ExchangeRate>
<Result>894.672839</Result>
I'm storing the whole xml file in an NSString variable called theXML. I want to show the value inside the result tag.How can i read the data from the xml file or from the string..
Thanks in advance..
Use XPath.
