When I rewrite HTML source of https page with Opera I got error:
linked script not loaded with http://localhost:4444/index.js.
When I use http://mypage/index.js everything goes right.
Putting any of links directly as address works just the same.
The most mysterious about this is, that it worked few hours ago and opera started to refuse localhost connection after computer restart.
I already tried to reinstall Opera and put localhost as trusted. No firewall active.
I just DONT UNDERSTAND :(
Thanks for any help.
opera:config#Network|AllowCrossNetworkNavigation might help, but this is almost certainly the block for cross network communication. It's a security feature.

I've got a local Apache server running for web development on my Mac running 10.14 Mojave. I've followed this rather excellent guide to set up a local vhost setup aliasing all .dev sites to my local server so I can access my example site at example.dev.
This used to work just fine. Since I've upgraded OSX to Mojave, I can no longer access these sites via Chrome or Firefox. I try to access http://example.dev and instead loading the site, the browser instantly redirects to https://example.dev (note the s!) and it tells me the server refused to connect.
For fun, I tried using curl to see if the sites would load there- (they do!). I've also tried loading the sites in Safari (they do!).
So what seems to be going on is that Chrome and Firefox are getting a 307 redirect from http to https, but Safari is not.
I've checked my Apache httpd.conf (and the files it imports) and I can't find anything about redirecting.
Clearing the cache or using an incognito window does not change anything.
Does anyone have any insight into what could be going on here? I've checked my httpd.conf files and I'm not seeing anything that would be causing this- and the fact that it's affecting certain browsers but not others is really strange.
I found the solution: The .dev TLD was recently defined, and Chrome and Firefox now require it to use HTTPS. Turns out the guide I was working off of was even updated to reference this:
Previous versions of this tutorial used .dev as a local TLD but .dev
has been registered for use by Google and forced by Chrome to use SSL,
so it is no longer an option for local development. The .test TLD is
now reserved for development use. You can also use .localhost or
.example. You can even make up your own as long as it’s not a real TLD
in use.
I have recently hosted my site which intends to use wildcard subdomains in its general use. A user would go to account.website.com to access their part of the site. The site is a rails app hosted on heroku and domain is through 123-reg. DNS is set up as per heroku - * , cname , wildcard.app.heroku...
At first i thought 123-reg couldnt handle wildcard routing and i would have to change dns provider as whenever i go to account.website.com it will send me to www.account.website.com which is extremely irritating, but then i found that this does not happen on my windows machine, only on my dev machine (macbook pro). In both cases i am using Chrome. Firefox works as desired, only chrome is messing up.
Any insight into why this is happening would be fantastic.
Thanks
Obviously i immediately solve it after asking and look like a fool - Apparently the cache remembers the redirect from when i assume i hadnt yet set up dns correctly. If you get the same problem, clear browser cache
I would like to view my locally hosted website via an iPad or other mobile device.
I have seen that many other people have succeeded in doing this and am unsure where I'm going wrong.
I have window 7 with iis. I have tried my_ip_address/index.html in safari with and without windows firewall disabled.
I think port 80 is correct, however I also use phpmyadmin which uses port 3306 if that means anything. (I did try this though my_ip_address:3306/index.html but nothing changed)
I have also tried using the IPV4 address which gives me this error:
Not Found
HTTP Error 404. The requested resource is not found.
And IPV4 DNS Server (which is an almost identical ip address apart from the last digit) and this gives me the following error:
Object Not Found
The requested URL '/index.asp' was not found on the RomPager server.
Return to last page
I'm currently running around in circles so any help is much appreciated. Thanks
I do this without any problems.
Try http://192.168.xxx.xxx:6969 on your laptop, does it work? Try it again with the iPad (obviously using your laptops ip address which I'm guessing looks like the above)
I've found it can be sensitive about the port number but I don't know why, 6969 did work for me.
I have some pages on my local machine, accessed via localhost, that are horribly slow to open/load using IE8, but very fast using Firefox, Opera, Chrome and Safari.
They used to load really quickly using IE7.
I produced a cut down page to test - to see what was causing the problem - and seriously, the most simple page possible causes it! I.e:
<html>
<head></head>
<body>
Hello!
</body>
</html>
Takes about 15 seconds to open on localhost in IE8, and is instant on all other browsers! Why? What can I do to resolve this?
By the way, tried this on a Web server, connecting via a URL via IE8, and it was basically instant when opened via IE8 via the Web/Web server!
I have Windows Update enabled, so should have the latest of everything.
Note: I only noticed this after my internet connection changed, which was about 2 weeks after IE8 was installed. Possibly that is coincidence, it MAY have started with the install of IE8, I am actually not sure. It is definitely happening now though.
The URL I am using is: http://localhost/fb/starttest.htm
Help!
Try the following:
1- Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
2- Open the file hosts using any text editor
3- Add this line to the end of the file
127.0.0.1 localhost
4- Before you save this file, you need to make sure that any program that access the internet (browsers etc.) is closed - Save the file and test it
Under Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings, is the box "Automatically detect proxy servers" checked?
If so, that does a DNS request to wpad.(domain search suffix) to discover proxy servers via their Auto Discovery Protocol.
If nothing responds, the query will have to timeout before it gives up.
I also had this exact same problem recently - 'localhost' taking 15 seconds to load, but 127.0.0.1 loading instantly.
However, I have now fully solved my problem, so I write here in the hope that it will help someone.
My problem coincided with the purchase of a D-Link DIR-655 wireless router, so after trying many of the kindly offered 'fixes' on this forum, I turned back to my router settings in search of an answer.
I eventually discovered a setting on the SETUP - NETWORK SETTINGS page. The 'Enable DNS Relay' box was checked, so I read about it, and it apparently allows the router to lookup DNS addresses from the ISP's server. This is obviously not desired for a 'local' address on my own PC, and so I tried unticking it.... and HEY PRESTO, IT WORKED!!!
I hope this work for some of you, too!
All the best,
Rob
I have exactly the same problem as you do, except I'm using IE7 (IE takes about 16 seconds to load localhost, while Firefox and Google Chrome loads it in an instant).
I don't have the autodiscovery for proxy checked either.
I also tried starting IE without add-ons (From Accessories->System Tools) and it didn't make a difference.
I found out that using 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost greatly improved the speed (like 2 seconds instead of 16 seconds!). However, I edited hosts file and I left only the line
127.0.0.1 localhost
and this didn't fix the problem. Need to dig some further.

Nicolae
I have a strange problem, I just installed my php web site on a shared hosting, all services were working fine. But after configuring my app I just could visit my web site only once, other attempts gives:
"The server is taking too long to respond.".
But from other IP i can access, but only once, it seems all ip addressess beeing blocked after first visit(even ftp and other services get down, no access at all from the IP), can anyone help to explore this problem ? I don't think that it's my app problem, the app works fine on my local PC.
Thanks.
First thing to try would be a traceroute to determine where your traffic is being blocked.
In a windows command prompt:
tracert www.yoursharedhostingserver.com
At the moment, trying to access this address gives this:
Fatal error: Class 'mainController'
not found in
/home/myicms/public_html/core/application/crApplication.class.php
on line 181
I have tried it multiple times and it didn't block me. It might be that You have already solved this problem.
As far as I know, the behavior described by You could only be explained by a badly configured intelligent firewall. It may have been misconfigured by Your host.
If You visit a site at a certain host and suddenly You cannot access an ftp on this host, then it's either a (really bad) firewall or a (very mean) site that explicitly adds a firewall rule to ignore that address.
Some things that You might look into:
It might be something with identd too. What was the service You have configured on Your host? Was it by any chance any kind of server-controll panel (that might have an ability to controll a firewall)?
Is the blockade permanent, or does it go off after 24h, or does it only go off after rebooting the server? Does restarting some services makes the blockade go off?
Did You install any software that "protects Your server from portscanning"? It might be a bit too aggressive.
I wish You good luck in finding a source of this problem!
Chances are that if you can access it once that its actually working. The problem is more than likely in the php code than in the server.
