I get Elmah to work correctly with MVC 3 and got down to setting up ElmahR for the same project. The configuration specified did not work for me. My configuration is below.
I haven't changed the defaults much except adding the target Url and source Url. So not sure how to fix this. the wiki (https://bitbucket.org/wasp/elmahr/wiki/Elmahr.config) for the project says that the dashboard should be a separate app, that did not work for me either. I gues I am missing something substantial since navigating to posterrors.ashx does not seem to be the right thing to do in mvc.

It's difficult to say what's wrong, but basically it's true that, if you try to set up a new MVC 3 web app and make it work as a dashboard, you might have to tweak routing. In general I'd recommend you to start from the original dashboard source code, which is a plain simple web site with no controllers at all. You can do that directly from the source code or from downloading the sample zipped application. It's of course possible to make a dashboard from an MVC new web app, but as you said you would need some tweaking, and there's not much need to do that because ElmahR dashboard does not really need a controller (everything behind the scene happens through SignalR). Being an open source project you can hack it as you like, but if you don't want to go that way I'd recommend you to start with the sample dashboard from the zipped application, follow the instructions and simply configure and personalize that one.

I have just added Package from NuGet called "ASP.NET Web Helpers Library 2.0.20710.1"(Install-Package microsoft-web-helpers) in my Visual Studio 2010(MVC3, C#).I install this to use WebGrid in my application. When I run the project I got the error: The connection name 'ApplicationServices' was not found in the applications configuration or the connection string is empty.
Again I am getting blue wavy line in all aspx and ascx pages in declaration of <%# Control %> and <%# Page %>

Your problem is the membership section in web.config. The ASP.NET configuration tool uses "ApplicationServices" by default. If you change it to use "connect_str" connection string, it should work fine. Replace connectionStringName="ApplicationServices" with connectionStringName="connect_str" as shown below. The same goes for Profile and RoleManager.
<membership>
<providers>
<clear/>
<add name="AspNetSqlMembershipProvider" type="System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider" connectionStringName="connect_str"
enablePasswordRetrieval="false" enablePasswordReset="true" requiresQuestionAndAnswer="false" requiresUniqueEmail="false"
maxInvalidPasswordAttempts="5" minRequiredPasswordLength="6" minRequiredNonalphanumericCharacters="0" passwordAttemptWindow="10"
applicationName="/" />
</providers>
</membership>
As for the other issue, change the key under AppSettings:
<add key="webpages:Version" value="1.0.0.0"/>
to
<add key="webpages:Version" value="2.0.0.0"/>
I think you either forgot to write a connection string in "Application Configuration". Or your connection string has difference name.
Look, you have mentioned your Connection string name ="connect_str" change it to ApplicationServices or vice versa..

I installed latest miniprofiler from nuget. I am running my application in the integrated mode. What am I missing?
Also, while I am referring config file, I am not able to secure access to Elmah (a bonus question) to super admins only.
Is the application pool running in Classic or Integrated mode?
Mini Profiler works out of the box fine when running in Integrated mode. There's supposedly a way to get it to working Classic mode, but the last time I tried (version 1.9) I personally couldn't get it working.
EDIT
Well works fine on my dev machine if I'm using Visual Development Server.
However, if I set to Use Local IIS WebServer (project url set at http://localhost/myapp) it DOESN'T work I get a 401 error.
Deploys fine from visual studio 2010 using msdeploy to IIS 7.5 with a site named apps.mydomain.com/myapp. So essentially I want to browse to http://apps.mydomain.com/myapp but when I do I get 404 error.
I have Windows authentication enabled only on the site everything else is disabled.
I have installed hotfix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/980368.
App pool .NET 4 integrated pipeline. I have tried classic pipeline also but doesn't work.
executed %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\aspnet_regiis.exe -ir still doesn't work
What am I doing wrong or do I need to do anything else?

Looks like you have an issue with the bindings.
Also you can check apps.mydomain.com in the DNS.
P.S. If you're not sure with your routes, you can use this cool small library: http://haacked.com/archive/2008/03/13/url-routing-debugger.aspx
Trying to use security features and create Forms Authentication in my MVC3 application I Used Project-ASP.Net Configuration which opened ASP.Net Web Site Administration Tool.
I went to Security-Roles Management, added a role and tried to manage users attached to it. When try to check a box to attach user

Thanks!
Today I deployed my first asp.net mvc3 website. It seems like the connection to the database does not work. I need to say, that I am a total newbie with the configuration of the web.config file.
I deployed alle files from VS 2010 and can reach sites that are not using the database. I created the database with the Entities.edmx.sql file. All tables were created.
The Web.config in VS 2010:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

I know that i need to turn off the customErrors mode. My host gave me the following connection string to use. I tried to use it for the ApplicationServices and EntitiesContainer but it did not work.
workstation id=the_workstation_id;packet size=4096;user id=username;pwd=password;data source=data_source_name;persist security info=False;initial catalog=catalog_name
I get this exception:

I solved the problem by setting all my referenced assemblies to copy local = true.
