Bootstrap dropdown won't work - drop-down-menu

I've been messing around with my website for a while now and can't seem to get the dropdown on my navigation to actually drop down. I've read a few questions regarding this and couldn't find something that was this specific.
I have my .js file installed and everything is linked up (as far as I know)
<script src="/js/bootstrap.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="/js/bootstrap.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<body>
<div class="navbar navbar-inverse navbar-fixed-top">
<div class="navbar-inner">
<div class="container">
<a class="btn btn-navbar" data-toggle="collapse" data-target=".nav-collapse">
<span class="icon-bar"></span>
<span class="icon-bar"></span>
<span class="icon-bar"></span>
</a>
<a class="brand" href="bootstrapindex.html">Student Food</a>
<div class="nav-collapse collapse">
<ul class="nav">
<li class="active">Home</li>
**<li>About</li>
<li class="dropdown">
Recipes<b class="caret"></b>
<ul class="dropdown-menu">
<li>Featured</li>
<li>Latest</li>
<li>Something else here</li>**
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
Can't seem to see why this won't work. If anyone could help that would be amazing.

You're including the Bootstrap JavaScript twice.
Remove one of the following lines:
<script src="/js/bootstrap.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="/js/bootstrap.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
bootstrap.min.js is just a minified version of bootstrap.js; it's the same code.

Try to remove wrapping div <div class="nav-collapse collapse">. I think, dropdown could be hidden by overflow (it was hidden, when I copy-pasted your code snippet).

Problem with dropdown action on Bootstrap v4

I have this sample page that I can't get the down down to work.
I have loaded jQuery, then Bootstrap, then popper (put popper before breaks things)
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Bootstrap try out</title>
<script type='text/javascript' src='//code.jquery.com/jquery-3.3.1.js'></script>
<link href="//netdna.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.2.1/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet">
<script src="https://netdna.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.2.1/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/popper.js/1.12.5/umd/popper.min.js" />
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://use.fontawesome.com/releases/v5.7.1/css/all.css" integrity="sha384-fnmOCqbTlWIlj8LyTjo7mOUStjsKC4pOpQbqyi7RrhN7udi9RwhKkMHpvLbHG9Sr" crossorigin="anonymous">
</head>
<body>
<div class="container">
<div class="input-group text dropright " >
<input class="form-control" readonly type="text" placeholder="<category map>"> <!-- form-control links field with the span -->
<div class="input-group-append" dropdown>
<button class="btn btn-outline-secondary dropdown-toggle" type="button" data-toggle="dropdown" aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="false">dd
</button>
<div class="dropdown-menu">
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Action</a>
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Another action</a>
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Something else here</a>
<div role="separator" class="dropdown-divider"></div>
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Separated link</a>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</body>
</html>
This renders the button - but the drop down doesn't open.
What I have missed here ?
PS: corrected page - putting the dropdown inside class "" like this it still doesn't render the list - something else is not right.
<div class="container">
<div class="input-group text dropright " >
<input class="form-control" readonly type="text" placeholder="<category map>"> <!-- form-control links field with the span -->
<div class="input-group-append dropdown" >
<button class="btn btn-outline-secondary dropdown-toggle" type="button" data-toggle="dropdown" aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="false">dd
</button>
<div class="dropdown-menu">
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Action</a>
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Another action</a>
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Something else here</a>
<div role="separator" class="dropdown-divider"></div>
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Separated link</a>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
really weird - so went to a demo site w3 schools - and there demo worked
so I cust and paste the header from that to my page and commented out my 4 lines doing same stuff
see replacement here - when i commented out my original sources and replaced those with the the same as the w3c schools and reloaded the page - it works
<!-- these 4 lines do work -->
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.2.1/css/bootstrap.min.css">
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/popper.js/1.14.6/umd/popper.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.2.1/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
<%-- these 4 lines dont work
<link href="//netdna.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.2.1/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet">
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>

<script src="https://netdna.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.2.1/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
--%>
i'm not sure what nature of screwedness is going on and its too late to go figure. However with the new sources the pages start to work - very weird

Why my navbar has no background color and vertical list?

I'm currently making a website using bootstrap 4 and CodeIgniter as backend. But the navigation bar went weird for some reason.
enter image description here (I still don't have enough point to post picture)
There's no navbar color and not to mention, the list is vertical, not horizontal.
This is my code:
<html>
<head>
<title>Code Igniter Blog</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://bootswatch.com/4/flatly/bootstrap.min.css">
</head>
<body>
<nav class="navbar navbar-inverse">
<div class="container">
<div class="navbar-header">
<a class="navbar-brand" href="<?php echo base_url(); ?>">CI Blog</a>
</div>
<div id="navbar">
<ul class="nav navbar-nav">
<li>Home</li>
<li>About</li>
</ul>
</div>
</div>
</nav>
Edit:
I was following a CodeIgniter tutorial by Traversy Media on youtube. I have followed all the steps, except the navbar went weird.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I752ofYu7ag
just go to this link https://bootswatch.com/flatly/
copy source code from this link
Here Your Solution:-
<html>
<head>
<title>Code Igniter Blog</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://bootswatch.com/4/flatly/bootstrap.min.css">
<script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-3.2.1.slim.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.0.0/js/bootstrap.min.js" ></script>
</head>
<body>
<nav class="navbar navbar-expand-lg navbar-dark bg-dark">
<a class="navbar-brand" href="<?php echo base_url(); ?>">CI Blog</a>
<button class="navbar-toggler" type="button" data-toggle="collapse" data-target="#navbarColor02" aria-controls="navbarColor02" aria-expanded="false" aria-label="Toggle navigation">
<span class="navbar-toggler-icon"></span>
</button>
<div class="collapse navbar-collapse" id="navbarColor02">
<ul class="navbar-nav mr-auto">
<li class="nav-item active">
<a class="nav-link" href="<?php echo base_url(); ?>">Home <span class="sr-only">(current)</span></a>
</li>
<li class="nav-item">
<a class="nav-link" href="<?php echo base_url(); ?>/about">About</a>
</li>
</ul>
</div>
</nav>
</body>
</html>

Bootstrap carousel Not functional

I'm working in Laravel 5.5 which is bundled with Bootstrap and I have my main JS file running appropriately (i.e. laravel mix compiling with all the all the js files loaded with it appropriately). However, bootstrap 3.3.7's carousel is not working at all. The transitions (slide actions) don't work and the buttons dont work at all. here's my code below
/**
* First we will load all of this project's JavaScript dependencies which
* includes Vue and other libraries. It is a great starting point when
* building robust, powerful web applications using Vue and Laravel.
*/
require('./bootstrap');
require('./animations');
window.Vue = require('vue');
// *
// * Next, we will create a fresh Vue application instance and attach it to
// * the page. Then, you may begin adding components to this application
// * or customize the JavaScript scaffolding to fit your unique needs.
Vue.component('example-component', require('./components/ExampleComponent.vue'));
const app = new Vue({
el: '.content'
});
<script type="text/javascript" src="{{ asset('js/jquery-3.2.1.min.js') }}"></script>
<!-- Styles -->
<link href="{{ asset('css/main.css') }}" rel="stylesheet"> . .. ...
<div class="container-fluid content">
<div class="carousel slide" id="features">
<!-- Indicators -->
<ol class="carousel-indicators">
<li data-target="#features" data-slide-to="0" class="active"></li>
<li data-target="#features" data-slide-to="1"></li>
<li data-target="#features" data-slide-to="2"></li>
</ol>
<!-- Wrapper for slides -->
<div class="carousel-inner">
<div class="item active">
<img src="/images/niceview.jpg">
<div class="carousel-caption">
<h4 class="carousel-header">Lorem Ipsum</h4>
<p class="carousel-text">Some Lorem ipsum.</p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="carousel-inner">
<div class="item">
<img src="/images/rear.jpg">
<div class="carousel-caption">
<h4 class="carousel-header">Dreams</h4>
<p class="carousel-text">Lorem ipsum</p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="carousel-inner">
<div class="item">
<img src="/images/view.jpg">
<div class="carousel-caption">
<h4 class="carousel-header">Dreams</h4>
<p class="carousel-text">Lorem ipsum</p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<!-- Controls -->
<a class="left carousel-control" href="#features" data-slide="prev">
<span class="glyphicon glyphicon-chevron-left"></span>
</a>
<a class="right carousel-control" href="#features" data-slide="next">
<span class="glyphicon glyphicon-chevron-right"></span>
</a>
</div>
</div>
That's my js file which compiles successfully by mix and my html file. And right now I don't get any errors in the console so I have no clue as to what is wrong.
Please help :(
Bootstrap carousal in the blade file.
add this to your filename.blade.php
<div id="myCarousel" class="carousel slide" data-ride="carousel">
<!-- Indicators -->
<!-- Wrapper for slides -->
<div class="carousel-inner">
<div class="item active">
<img src="{{ asset('public/images/1.jpg')}}" alt="" style="width:100%;">
</div>
<div class="item">
<img src="{{ asset('public/images/2.jpg')}}" alt="" style="width:100%;">
</div>
<div class="item">
<img src="{{ asset('public/images/3.jpg')}}" alt="" style="width:100%;">
</div>
</div>
<!-- Left and right controls -->

<a class="right carousel-control" href="#myCarousel" data-slide="next">
<span class="glyphicon glyphicon-chevron-right"></span>

<script type="text/javascript" src="{{ asset('public/js/jQuery-2.1.4.min.js') }}"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="{{ asset('public/js/bootstrap.min.js') }}"></script>

Element div not allowed as child of element ul in this context

this is my first post
just the site i needed cause im kinda new to all this
im trying to validate my page and there is 1 error that i dont know what to do with
Element div not allowed as child of element ul in this context. (Suppressing further errors from this subtree.)
if i remove the div part
my page is not looking the same as it does with it and it works on all browsers right now with the errors
this is the piece of code that is making the error
<div class="picture_content margin-left">
<ul class="image_box_story2">
<div id="carousel-example-generic" class="carousel slide" data-ride="carousel">
<!-- Indicators -->
<ol class="carousel-indicators">
<li data-target="#carousel-example-generic" data-slide-to="0" class="active"></li>
<li data-target="#carousel-example-generic" data-slide-to="1"></li>
<li data-target="#carousel-example-generic" data-slide-to="2"></li>
</ol>
<!-- Wrapper for slides -->
<div class="carousel-inner">
<div class="item active">
<img src="images/slider1.jpg" alt="...">
<div class="carousel-caption">
...
</div>
</div>
<div class="item">
<img src="images/slider2.jpg" alt="...">
<div class="carousel-caption">
...
</div>
</div>
<div class="item">
<img src="images/slider3.jpg" alt="...">
<div class="carousel-caption">
...
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</ul>
</div>
</div>
</section>
any help on how to fix this would be apreciated alot
thanks for taking the time
btw i downloaded a bootstrap temp and the Original file has the same errors
The error is
<ul class="image_box_story2">
a ul is a list and can only have li children, not div, that list doesn't have any li children at all.
Perhaps you can change it to <div class="image_box_story2"> (and change (</ul> to </div>) that would make it valid, but whether it displays Ok depends on the css you have not shown.

Login menu not appearing when created using meteor

I am new to Meteor of course for developing filed as well. I have created a login UI using meteor, but it is not visible. I am able to see through inspect element using console. Can some one tell me what went wrong.
<body>
<div class="container">
{{> header}}
<div id="main" class="row-fluid">
{{renderPage}}
</div>
</div>
</body>
<template name="header">
<header class="navbar">
<div class="navbar-inner">
<a class="brand" href="/">Jobboard</a>
<ul class="nav">
</ul>
<ul class="nav pull-right">
<li>{{loginButtons}}</li>
</ul>
</div>
</template>
You need to close your <header> tag. Use consistent indentation to make these issues more obvious:
<body>
<div class="container">
{{> header}}
<div id="main" class="row-fluid">
{{renderPage}}
</div>
</div>
</body>
<template name="header">
<header class="navbar">
<div class="navbar-inner">
<a class="brand" href="/">Jobboard</a>
<ul class="nav">
</ul>
<ul class="nav pull-right">
<li>{{loginButtons}}</li>
</ul>
</div>
</header>
</template>
